Models: RCE-HTL-B RCE-HNG-B RCE-QUAD-B Remote Control for SILH50E Series, SILH60E Series, CF550E Series, CF750E Series, QV32E Series

Check with your local building code agency before you begin installation to ensure compliance with local codes, including the need for permits and follow-up inspections. A. Install Remote Control

• Turn off circuit breaker and/or unplug heater from wall outlet.

• Remove lower grille and/or door front on heater.

• Remove the four outer screws located around the control panel.

• Slide light tray assembly partially out of heater.

• Remove the four screws around the controls on the control panel. See Figure 1.

• Carefully rotate control panel forward. Locate the remote plug. See Figure 2.

• Unplug remote connector by squeezing the tabs to disengage the connectors. See Figure 3. (If wall switch is hooked into plug, the wall switch will become inoperable.)

• Take connector from the remote receiver and plug into connector on circuit board. Makes sure connecter locks into position. See Figure 4.

• Position remote receiver bracket between light tray and control panel front. Reinstall the four screws (only right side screws secure remote bracket). Make sure that the remote bracket and wires are not pinched. See Figures 5 and 6.

• Slide light tray back into heater. Making sure no wires are pinched.

• Reinstall the outer four screws on the control panel

• Turn on circuit breaker and/or plug heater in.

B. Learning the Remote

• Turn main power switch to ON position.

• The transmitter operates on a 12V battery (included) made speciﬁ cally for remote controls and electronic lighters. Install the 12V battery supplied with the heater into the battery compartment of the hand held remote transmitter. It is recommended that alkaline batteries always be used for longer battery life and maximum operational performance. If the signal light does not illuminate (when it normally would), check the position of the transmitter’s battery.

• The transmitter is a radio frequency remote control. The frequency can be found on the back side of the transmitter. The range of the transmitter is approximately 20 ft from heater.

• Locate the learn button hole on front of control panel. See Figure 7.

• Insert a blunt object such as a pencil into the hole. You will hear a beep when learn button is depressed.

• Press either the ON or OFF button on transmitter.

• When transmitter and receiver are synchronized you will hear ﬁ ve beeps.

• Your remote system is now active

D. FCC Requirements

If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

• Increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver.

• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio or TV technician for help.

Canadian Equipment Requirements

This digital apparatus does not exceed the Class A/Class B limits for radio noise emissions from digital apparatus set out in the Radio Interference Regulations of the Canadian Department of Communications.

This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy, and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation.

C. Remote Transmitter Function

• The hand held remote transmitter is only an ON/OFF control. When the transmitter is active, the remote LED light will be RED. Upon initial use, there may be a delay of three seconds before the remote receiver will respond to the transmitter. This is part of the system’s design.

• With the main power switch (located on the heater system) in the “ON” position, press the ON button on the hand held remote transmitter to turn on the heater. The transmitter does not control/change the other switches or controls located on the heater. Features of the heater (ﬂ ame motion and heater system) will remain in their last set position. If you would like to change the setting you will have to access the manual controls (located on the heater) to set the desired position.

• To turn off the heater, press the OFF button on the hand held remote transmitter.

Limited Warranty

This REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEM is warranted for 12 months from the date of purchase or installation to the original purchaser to be free from defects in materials and wo rkmans hip. Damag e to t he SYSTEM c aused by accident , misuse, abuse or installation error whether performed by a contractor, service company, or owner, is not covered by this warranty. Seller will not be responsible for labor charges and/or damage incurred in installation, repair, replacement or for incidental or consequential damages. Batteries and any damage caused by them are not covered by this warranty.

Some states, provinces, and nations do not allow exclusion or limitations of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply. This warranty gives you speciﬁ c legal rights. You may have other rights that vary by state, province or nation.


