Glass and other surfaces are hot during operation and cool down.
• Keep children away.
• CAREFULLY SUPERVISE children in same room as appliance.
• Alert children and adults to hazards of high temperatures.
• Do NOT operate with protective barriers open or removed.
• Keep clothing, furniture, draperies and other combustibles away.
NOTICE
If the Escape-36DV has the stand-offs noted in Figure 1, follow installation Steps 1 through 9. If the stand-offs are not present and hearth tabs are visible (see Figure 2) follow installation Steps 10 through 18.

ash lip must be installed properly before placing the fi rescreen on.

FRONT PANEL
1. Remove the front panels and ash lip from the fi replace.
2. Remove the pull-type mesh by unhooking from the back side of the opening. This mesh is not to be used with the fi rescreen front.
3. Locate the two fi rescreen support assemblies that are shown in Figure 1.
4. Remove the nuts from the fi rescreen sup­ports.
5. Locate the two holes on the left and right side of the glass frame’s base. Place the two threaded studs on the fi rescreen support through the two holes from underneath the glass frame. Tighten the two nuts down on top of the glass frame. The supports will be angled slightly uphill.

6. Repeat for other side.
7. Attach the hood to the glass assembly as
shown in Figure 3.
8. Replace the ash lip and front panels. It is
easiest to put the left and right panels in fi rst. Bring the bottoms in toward the center and guide the tops into place while sliding the bottom outward. Place the ash lip in place last.
9. Slide the top tabs on the fi rescreen front
behind the top of the viewing opening. Bring the bottom towards the glass. Lift slightly. The two small tabs will rest into the slots on the fi rescreen supports.
10. Remove the front panels and ash lip from
the fi replace.
11. Remove the pull-type mesh by unhooking
from the back side of the opening. This mesh does not get used with the fi rescreen front.
12. Remove the glass assembly from the
unit.
13. Place the fi rescreen support on top of the
metal fl oor in front of where the glass was sitting. You may have to fl ex it into place slightly.

Note: The hood should be positioned
below the return bend on the glass frame.

14. Attach the fi rescreen support to the metal
fl oor with the two screws included in the kit.
15. Replace the glass assembly onto the front
of the fi replace and latch all four latches.
16. Attach the hood to the glass assembly as
shown in Figure 3.
17. Replace the ash lip and front panels. It is
easiest to put the left and right panels in fi rst. Bring the bottoms in toward the center and guide the tops into place while sliding the bottom outward. Place the ash lip in place last.
18. Slide the top tabs on the fi rescreen front
behind the top of the viewing opening. Lift the bottom into place so it sits on top of the support piece and bottoms out against the tabs on each side of the support piece.
