Hi-GainTM Dual-Band Wireless-N Range Extender HD45X

1 A. Hardware Setup
A. Attach the Antennas to the
Extender.
Locate the antennas provided with the
HD45X and attach them to the antenna
jacks on the HD45X.
B. Plug in the Power Adapter.
When you have completed the antenna
setup, plug the included power adapter
into the nearest power outlet.
C. (Optional): Only do this step if you
are intending to configure the HD45X
using a wired connection. Otherwise,
proceed to step 2.)
Using an ethernet cable, connect your
computer to any one of the 5 Wired LAN
Ports located on the back of the router.
Proceed to step 3.
B. Find an Optimal Location
Your Hi-GainTM Dual Band Wireless N Range Extender should be placed in
optimal location within the range of your wireless network.
Internet
Make sure the Extender is placed in a location where it can receive a strong
signal from your desired wireless Internet connection. The Extender will not
work without a signal it can repeat.

2 Configuring your Extender using a WiFi enabled device.
(For a wired connection, do Step 1c, then proceed to Step 3.)
Using a Mac Computer
Click the wireless network icon in the
upper right corner of the Finder tool
bar. Select the
“Hawking_HD45X_Extender” network
from the drop-down menu. Then
Continue to Step 3A.
Using an iPad® or an iPhone®
Make sure JavaScript is On: Go to Settings >
Select Safari (a) >
make sure JavaScript is ON (b) .
Go back to Home Screen > Select Settings > In Wi-Fi
Networks, Select “Hawking_HD45X_Extender” (c). Make
sure your Wi-Fi is connected to the range extender (d).
Using a Windows Computer
Look for the “Wireless Network” Icon on the lower
right of the Windows taskbar, Click on the Icon
and Select “Hawking_HD45X_Extender”
Network. Then Continue on to Step 3A.
Go back to Home Screen(e) > open your
Safari Browser

Using an Android mobile device
On your mobile device, locate the “settings” menu
and select “Wireless & Networks”.

Click “Turn on Wi-Fi” and then click on the “Wi-Fi
Settings” option
Hawking_HD45X_...
Then, type in http://192.168.1.240 (f).
Continue on to Step 3B.

Look for “Hawking_HD45X_Extender”.
Select it to connect.

3 Connecting to your Dual-Band Range Extender
A. Using the same computer, open a web browser and
type in the following web address in the web
address bar: http://192.168.1.240
Once the page loads, enter the following login
information:
Login: admin Password: 1234
Click Login to continue.
If this page does not load or you need to get back
into the unit, you can reset the device by holding
the reset button for 15 seconds, power off/on. If
running Windows, you may also run the setup
software to find the device.
B. Click ‘Scan’ to find your wireless Internet
connection. Select a network you would like to
extend, 2.4GHz or 5GHz , and click ‘Connect’.

The 2.4GHz networks will appear in blue and 5GHz
networks will appear in orange. While you can select a
2.4GHz network, if available we recommend connecting to a
5GHz network to optimize your speed and throughput.
If the signal strength is low or your network does
not appear, you may need to adjust the location of
your HD45X. Click ‘Scan’ to try again.
C. The Quick Setup will now prompt you to enter a
security key only if the network you are
connecting to is encrypted. Enter the key and
click ‘Continue’.
Note: If there is no security on the original
network, this step will automatically be skipped.
If you do not know the security key of the
network you are connecting to, please consult
your network administrator.
4 Finishing Up
The setup of your HD45X is now complete. A
summary page will appear with all your settings. If
anything is incorrect, click back to re-enter your
settings. Click Finish to complete your setup. The
HD45X will automatically reboot and start repeating
and extending your wireless network.
Placing your Dual Band Range Extender in an Optimal Location
Place the HD45X within the range of your wireless source.

After the reboot, the HD45X will join the original network
and will no longer be listed as “Hawking_HD45X_Extender”. It
will automatically be renamed to your original network, unless it
was specified during the set up process. If you wish to modify
this name, please refer to the user’s manual.
