Warmer. We recommend all installation, operating and safety information appearing in this manual be read prior to installation or operation of your Merchandising Warmer. Safety information that appear in this manual after a warning symbol and the words WARNING or CAUTION printed in bold face are very important. WARNING means there is the possibility of serious injury or death to yourself or others. CAUTION means there is the possibility of minor or moderate injury. NOTICE without the symbol signifies the possibility of equipment or property damage only.
Hatco Merchandising Warmers are a product of extensive research and field testing. The materials used were selected for maximum durability, attractive appearance and optimum performance. Every unit is thoroughly inspected and tested prior to shipment.
INTRODUCTION
The Hatco Ultra-Glo™Merchandising Warmer is designed to provide ideal heat patterns with precise temperature control to ensure food quality and safety. This countertop hot food warmer is ideal for wrapped product at any time of the day. The Merchandising Warmer safely maintains peak serving temperatures longer without continuing to cook the food.
The Ultra-Glo Warmer is equipped with two ceramic infrared upper heating elements controlled with an infinite switch. The hardcoated heated base is thermostatically-controlled and the temperature is digitally displayed on the side of the unit. Incandescent display lights illuminate the warming area and the food zone is protected with easy to install front and side breath protectors.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Genuine Hatco Replacement Parts are specified to operate safely in the environments in which they are used. Some aftermarket or generic replacement parts do not have the characteristics that will allow them to operate safely in Hatco equipment. It is essential to use Hatco Replacement Parts when repairing Hatco equipment. Failure to use Hatco Replacement Parts may subject operators of the equipment to hazardous electrical voltage, resulting in electrical shock or burn.
CAUTIONS
Some exterior surfaces on the unit will get hot. Use caution when touching these areas to avoid injury.
To avoid any injury or damage locate the unit at the proper counter height, in an area that is convenient for use. The location should be level to prevent the unit or its contents from accidentally falling, and strong enough to support the weight of the unit and food.
Unit is not weatherproof. For safe and proper operation locate the unit indoors
where the ambient air temperature is constant and is a minimum of 70°F (21°C).
Unit is equipped with a factory-set base thermostat control. Adjustments must only be performed by authorized personnel.
Standard and approved manufacturing oils will smoke up to 30 minutes during initial start-up. This is a temporary condition. To assure safe operation, operate unit without food product until smoke dissipates.
WARNINGS
Plug unit into a properly grounded electrical outlet of the correct voltage, size and plug configuration. If the plug and receptacle do not match, contact a qualified electrician to determine the proper voltage and size and install the proper electrical outlet.
To avoid any injury turn the power OFF to the unit and allow to cool before performing any maintenance.
Only light bulbs which meet or exceed NSF standards, specifically designed for food holding areas may be used. Breakage of light bulbs not specially coated could result in personal injury and/or food contamination.
For safe and proper operation, the unit must be located a minimum of 2" (51 mm) from combustible walls and materials. If safe distances are not maintained, discoloration or combustion could occur.
To avoid electrical shock or personal injury, do not steam clean or use excessive water on the unit.
The unit is not waterproof. DO NOT submerge in water. Do not operate if it has been submerged in water.
To prevent any injury or damage to the unit do not pull unit by power cord.
To prevent any injury, discontinue use if power cord is frayed or worn and contact Authorized Service Agent to replace it.

This product has no “user” serviceable parts. To avoid damage to the unit or injury to personnel, use only Authorized Hatco Service Agents and Genuine Hatco Parts when service is required.

MODEL DESCRIPTION
ULTRA-GLO™ MODELS
Hatco Ultra-Glo Merchandising Warmer is constructed of an aluminum powder-coated exterior. The unit features a main On/Off lighted rocker switch and comes equipped with a 6' (1829 mm) cord and plug set. The thermostatically- controlled heated base is factory set and the temperature is digitally displayed on the temperature indicator. The upper ceramic heating elements are controlled by a separate infinite switch creating ideal heat patterns. Easy to install breath protectors and incandescent display lights enhance and protect the warming area. All the features of the Merchandising Warmer contribute to an ideal food holding area.

NOTICE

Damage to countertop material such as Corian

and similar products caused by heat generated from Hatco equipment is not covered under the Hatco warranty. Contact the manufacturer of the base material for application information.
Do not lay unit on the side with the control panel or damage to unit could occur.

Units are supplied from the factory with an electrical cord and plug installed. Plugs are supplied according to the applications. (See Figure 2.)

INSTALLATION
UNPACKING
1. Remove the unit from the carton and remove all packing materials.
2. Remove information packet. To prevent delay
in obtaining warranty coverage, fill out and mail in the warranty card.
3. Remove tape and protective packaging from all surfaces of unit.
NOTICE Do not lay unit on the side with the control panel or damage to the unit could occur.
NOTICE Do not drag or slide the unit when moving or installing. Carefully lift the unit to prevent the legs from being damaged.
4. Carefully lay unit on its side and install the four legs as shown in Figure 4.
LOCATION
For proper operation and maximum performance, locate the Merchandising Warmer in an area where the ambient air temperature is constant and is a minimum of 70°F (21°C). Areas which are susceptible to active air movements or currents should be avoided, i.e., near exhaust fans or hoods and air conditioning ducts.

ASSEMBLY OF BREATH PROTECTORS
Breath protectors are standard equipment on the UGMW-1. Refer to Figure 5 and follow these steps for installation.
1. Remove protective paper from the three breath protectors.
2. To install a side, loosen and remove the four screws from underside of the top housing. Slide mounting bracket into position with studs facing downward. Re-install and tighten the four screws to secure the mounting bracket to the top housing.
3. Align breath protector mounting holes with studs and secure using acorn nuts provided. Do not over-tighten.
4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to complete installation on the remaining breath protectors.
5. Insert a corner trim bracket through the holes from the top side of each breath protector corner. Secure using washers and acorn nuts provided. Do not over-tighten.
Note: Cleanability codes require a gap of 1/16" to 1/8" between the breath protectors at the corners. Clean gaps using a soft, clean and damp cloth. Do not use glass cleaner and/or paper towel. Glass cleaner may scratch the surfaces.

OPERATION

GENERAL
The main power of the Merchandising Warmer is controlled by the ON/OFF rocker switch. The switch must be in the ON position for the unit to function.
Allow 20-30 minutes to reach operating temperature.
NOTE: Upper heating elements are controlled by an infinite switch located at the rear base. Adjust the upper element heat by rotating the control knob to the desired setting.
CAUTION Standard and approved manufacturing oils will smoke up to 30 minutes during initial start-up. This is a temporary condition. To assure safe operation, operate unit without food product until smoke dissipates.

MAINTENANCE
CLEANING
Hatco Merchandising Warmer units are designed for maximum durability and performance, with minimum maintenance.

To preserve the finish of the Ultra-Glo™ Merchandising Warmer, it is recommended that the metal surfaces be wiped daily with a clean, soft, damp cloth. Stubborn stains maybe removed with a good stainless steel cleaner or a non-abrasive cleaner. Hard to reach areas should be cleaned with a small brush and mild soap.

DISPLAY LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT
The display light is an incandescent bulb which illuminates the warming area. This bulb has a special coating to guard against injury and food contamination in the event of breakage.
To replace a bulb, disconnect the power supply and wait until the unit has cooled. Display lamps have a threaded base. Unscrew the bulb from the unit and replace it with a new specially coated incandescent bulb. Hatco shatter-resistant bulbs meet NSF standards for food holding and display areas.

HATCO LIMITED WARRANTY
1. PRODUCT WARRANTY
Hatco warrants the products that it manufactures (the “Products”) to be free from defects in materials and workmanship, under normal use and service, for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase when installed and maintained in accordance with Hatco’s written instructions or 18 months from the date of shipment from Hatco. Buyer must establish the product’s purchase date by returning Hatco’s Warranty Registration Card or by other means satisfactory to Hatco in its sole discretion.
Hatco warrants the following Product components to be free from defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase (subject to the foregoing conditions) for the period(s) of time and on the conditions listed below:

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, SUCH WARRANTIES DO NOT COVER: Coated incandescent light bulbs, fluorescent lights, lamp warmer heat bulbs, glass components, Product failure in booster tank, fin tube heat exchanger, or other water heating equipment, caused by liming, sediment buildup, chemical attack or freezing, Product misuse, tampering or misapplication, improper installation or application of improper voltage.
2. LIMITATION OF REMEDIES AND
DAMAGES
Hatco’s liability and Buyer’s exclusive remedy hereunder will be limited solely, at Hatco’s option, to repair or replacement by a Hatco-authorized service agency (other than where Buyer is located outside of the United States, Canada, United Kingdom or Australia in which case Hatco’s liability and Buyer’s exclusive remedy hereunder will be limited solely to replacement of part under warranty) with respect to any claim made within the applicable warranty period referred to above. Hatco reserves the right to accept or reject any such claim in whole or in part. Hatco will not accept the return of any Product without prior written approval from Hatco, and all such approved returns shall be made at Buyer’s sole expense. HATCO WILL NOT BE LIABLE, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LABOR COSTS OR LOST PROFITS RESUL TING FROM THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PRODUCTS OR FROM THE PRODUCTS BEING INCORPORATED IN OR BECOMING A COMPONENT OF ANY OTHER PRODUCT OR GOODS.
