IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
WARNINGS
To avoid any injury, turn the power switch OFF, unplug the unit from the power source and allow to cool before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
The Glo-Ray Heated Shelf is not waterproof. To avoid any injury or damage to the unit DO NOT submerge or saturate with water. Do not operate if it has been submerged or saturated with water.
Plug unit into a properly grounded electrical outlet of the correct voltage, size and plug configuration. If the plug and receptacle do not match, contact a qualified electrician to determine the proper voltage and size and install the proper electrical outlet.
To avoid any injury or damage to the unit do not pull unit by power cord.
To prevent any injury, discontinue use if power cord is frayed or worn.
Do not lay unit on the side with the control panel or damage to the unit could occur.
For safe and proper operation, the unit must be located a reasonable distance from combustible walls and materials. If safe distances are not maintained, discoloration or combustion could occur.
If service is required on this unit, contact your Authorized Hatco Service Agent, or contact the Hatco Service Department at 800-558-0607 or 414-671-6350; fax 800-6902966 or International fax 414-671-3976.
This product has no “user” serviceable parts. To avoid damage to the unit or injury to personnel, use only Authorized Hatco Service Agents and Genuine Hatco Replacement Parts when service is required.
Genuine Hatco Replacement Parts are specified to operate safely in the environments in which they are used. Some aftermarket or generic replacement parts do not have the characteristics that will allow them to operate safely in Hatco equipment. It is essential to use Hatco Replacement Parts when repairing Hatco equipment. Failure to use Hatco Replacement Parts may subject operators of the equipment to hazardous electrical voltage, resulting in electrical shock or burn.
CAUTIONS
Unit is not weatherproof. For safe and proper operation locate the unit indoors
where the ambient air temperature is a minimum of 70°F (21°C).
To avoid any injury or damage locate the unit at the proper counter height, in an area that is convenient for use. The location should be level to prevent the shelf or its contents from accidentally falling, and strong enough to support the weight of the unit and food.
Some exterior surfaces on the unit will get hot. Use caution when touching these areas to avoid injury.
The National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) requires that GRS Series units over 36" (914 mm) in length or weighing more than 80 lbs. (36 kg) to be either sealed or raised on the installation surface. If this unit cannot be sealed at the point of use, 4" (102 mm) legs are included to allow for proper cleaning access below unit. See ACCESSORIES for installation instructions.
CAUTIONS
Damage to non-metallic countertop material caused by heat generated from Hatco equipment is not covered under the Hatco warranty. Recommended for use in metallic counters. For other surfaces, verify that the material is suitable for temperature up to 180°F (82°C).
Use of excessive force when tightening mounting screws may damage unit or countertop (GRSB & GRSBF units).
Use only non-abrasive cleaners. Abrasive cleaners could scratch the finish of your GloRay Heated Shelf marring its appearance and making it susceptible to soil accumulation.
IMPORTANT! Read the following important safety instructions to avoid personal injury or death, and to avoid damage to the equipment or property.

MODEL DESCRIPTIONS
GRS MODEL
The GRS Heated Shelf is ideal for pass-through areas, buffet lines or as a heated work shelf. It features an on/off rocker switch with indicator light, 140° to 180°F (60° to 82°C) adjustable thermostat and 6' (1829 mm) cord with plug. Surface mounted foil elements distribute heat under the entire stainless steel surface.
All GRS models are shipped from the factory completely assembled and ready for use.
GRSB & GRSBF MODELS
The GRSB and GRSBF Drop-In Heated Shelves have a hardcoat aluminum top and a blanket-type foil element for uniform heat distribution. Ideal for server-to-customer pass through areas, buffet and cafeteria lines and other self-service areas. The GRSB model features a recessed top. The GRSBF model incorporates a flat top.
A 3' (914 mm) flexible conduit channels the power lines from the shelf to a remote control box. The control box comes with a control thermostat with a range of 80° to 200°F (27° to 93°C), an illuminated on/off switch and mounting brackets. The attached control box can be located up to 3' (914 mm) from the unit. A6' (1829 mm) cord and plug is attached to the control box.
The Drop-In Heated Shelf has a 3/4" (19 mm) flanged edge that allows the unit to drop into a countertop opening. The shelf is easy to clean with a soft damp cloth or non-abrasive cleaner . All GRSB and GRSBF models are shipped from the factory completely assembled and ready for use.
CAUTION Use only non-abrasive cleaners. Abrasive cleaners could scratch the finish of your GloRay Heated Shelf marring its appearance and making it susceptible to soil accumulation.

INSTALLATION
6. Assemble the Z-brackets to the underside of the unit using the four screws removed in step 2.
NOTE: Units 48" (1219 mm) or longer require two additional Z-brackets installed midway along the front and rear of the unit.
7. Adjust the 1/4-20 screws on the Z-brackets until the top flange lies flat on the countertop.
8. Remove any excess sealant.
CAUTION Use of excessive force when tightening mounting screws may damage unit or countertop (GRSB and GRSBF units).
9. If you wish to move the control box to a semiremote location, remove it from the bottom of the unit. If necessary, remove the end brackets from the control box, rotate and reposition them. The control box will require a hole mounting pattern of 7-5/8" x 1-1/4" (194 mm x 32 mm) for #8 screws. See Figure 7 for mounting distances.
10.Once all components are secured, the unit may be plugged in and turned on.
NOTE: A 6' (1829 mm) cord is supplied with this appliance; any excess cord should be neatly routed so it does not hang down.
