GENERAL SAFETY RULES
WARNING!
READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS
Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in
electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas invite injuries.
2. Observe work area conditions. Keep work area well lighted. Do not use electrically powered pumps in the presence of flammable gases or liquids.
3. Keep children away. Children must never be allowed in the pond. Do not let them handle the Pump, tools, or extension cords. The pond should be surrounded by adequate fencing with locked gate to assure that children do not have access to the pond.

5. Use the right tool for the job. Do not attempt to force a small Pump to do the work of a larger industrial Pump. There are certain applications for which this Pump was designed. It will do the job better and more safely at the rate for which it was intended. Do not modify this Pump and do not use this Pump for a purpose for which it was not intended.
6. Maintain Pump with care. Keep Pump and filter clean for better and safer performance. Follow instructions for changing accessories. Inspect tool cord periodically, and if damaged, have it repaired by an authorized technician.
7. Disconnect power. Unplug Pump when not in use.
8. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, use common sense. Do not operate any Pump when you are tired.
9. Check for damaged parts. Before using any Pond Kit, any part that appears damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment and binding of moving parts; any broken parts or mounting fixtures; and any other condition that may affect proper operation. Any part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by a qualified technician.
10. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use accessories intended for use with this kit. Approved accessories are available from Harbor Freight Tools.
11. Do not operate Pump if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning labels on prescriptions to determine if your judgment or reflexes are impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the Pump.
12. Use proper size and type extension cord. If an extension cord is required, it must be of the proper size and type to supply the correct current to the tool without heating up. Otherwise, the extension cord could melt and catch fire, or cause electrical damage to the tool. This product requires use of an extension cord of 0 to 10 amps capability (up to 50 feet), with wire size rated at 18 AWG. Longer extension cords require larger size wire. If you are using the product outdoors, use an extension cord rated for outdoor use (signified by “WA” on the jacket).
13. Maintenance. For your safety, maintenance should be performed regularly by a qualified technician.
Recommendation: For your safety, it is recommended you do some research on your
own on pertaining to assembling a pond. See State and Federal requirements for ponds and standing water.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY
1. Grounded plugs must be plugged into an outlet properly installed and
grounded in accordance with all codes and ordinances. Never remove the grounding prong or modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. If the pump for the Pool should electrically mal-
function or break down, grounding provides a low resistance path to carry electricity away from the user.
2. The Pool Pump cord is equipped with a 3 prong plug. If the plug does not
fit properly into the outlet, contact a qualified electrician. Do not change the plug in any way.
3. Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators,
ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your
body is grounded.
4. Do not expose the electric plugs to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a
power source will increase the risk of electric shock.
5. Do not abuse the Power Cord. Never use the Power Cord to carry the tools
or pull the Plug from an outlet. Keep the Power Cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Replace damaged Power Cords immediately.
Damaged Power Cords increase the risk of electric shock.
6. When operating a power source outside, use an outdoor extension cord
marked “W-A” or “W”. These extension cords are rated for outdoor use, and reduce the risk of electric shock.
PERSONAL SAFETY
7. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operat-
ing a power source. Do not use a power source while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention while operating
power source may result in serious personal injury.
8. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long
hair. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
9. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper
footing and balance enables better control in unexpected situations.

Page 5
10. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask, non-skid
safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection must be used for appropriate conditions. All of these are available at Harbor Freight Tools.
USE AND CARE
11. Use clamps (not included) or other practical ways to secure and support the
work piece. Holding the work by hand or against your body is unstable and may
lead to loss of control.
12. Disconnect the Power Cord Plug from the power source before making
any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing.
13. Maintain Pool with care. Keep Pool basins and filter clean. Standing water
draws misquotes, algae, and bacteria. This manual will not cover all aspects of maintaining clean water. Locate your local Garden Shop or garden supply store for details.
14. Check for misalignment. Accidents could be caused by poor maintenance and
construction of the Pool.
15. Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your model. Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may become hazardous when used on another tool.
SERVICE
16. Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.
17. When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow
instructions in the “Inspection, Maintenance, And Cleaning” section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow maintenance instructions
may create a risk of electric shock or injury.

GROUNDING
WARNING!
Improperly connecting the grounding wire can result in the risk of electric
shock. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the
outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the power cord plug provided with
the tool. Never remove the grounding prong from the plug. Do not use the
tool if the power cord or plug is damaged. If damaged, have it repaired by
a service facility before use. If the plug will not fit the outlet, have a proper
outlet installed by a qualified electrician.
GROUNDED TOOLS: TOOLS WITH THREE PRONG PLUGS
1. Tools marked with “Grounding Required” have a three wire cord and three prong
grounding plug. The plug must be connected to a properly grounded outlet. If the tool should electrically malfunction or break down, grounding provides a low resistance path to carry electricity away from the user, reducing the risk of elec- tric shock. (See Figure A.)
2. The grounding prong in the plug is connected through the green wire inside the
cord to the grounding system in the tool. The green wire in the cord must be the only wire connected to the tool’s grounding system and must never be attached to an electrically “live” terminal. (See Figure A.)
3. Your tool must be plugged into an appropriate outlet, properly installed and
grounded in accordance with all codes and ordinances. The plug and outlet should look like those in the following illustration. (See Figure A.)

Page 7
DOUBLE INSULATED TOOLS: TOOLS WITH TWO PRONG PLUGS
4. Tools marked “Double Insulated” do not require grounding. They have a special double insulation system which satisfies OSHA requirements and complies with the applicable standards of Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., the Canadian
Standard Association, and the National Electrical Code. (See Figure B.)
5. Double insulated tools may be used in either of the 120 volt outlets shown in the following illustration. (See Figure B.)
FIGURE B
EXTENSION CORDS
1. Grounded tools require a three wire extension cord. Double Insulated tools can use either a two or three wire extension cord.
2. As the distance from the supply outlet increases, you must use a heavier gauge extension cord. Using extension cords with inadequately sized wire causes a serious drop in voltage, resulting in loss of power and possible tool damage.
(See Figure C, next page.)
3. The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cord. For example, a 14 gauge cord can carry a higher current than a 16 gauge cord.
(See Figure C.)
4. When using more than one extension cord to make up the total length, make sure each cord contains at least the minimum wire size required.
(See Figure C.)
5. If you are using one extension cord for more than one tool, add the nameplate
amperes and use the sum to determine the required minimum cord size. (See Figure C.)

Operation
General Pond Construction NOTE: For a pond 7-1/2” deep, the maximum hole size is about 50”L x 35”W x 10”D. This
allows the Large Pond (3) to sit in the hole. Adjust your digging if the Large Pond does not sit properly in the hole. See suggestions below. It has been suggested to use spray paint (not included) to mark the ground where you want to dig your hole. This will help you plan your design.
1. Remove the layer of sod if necessary.
2. Dig the hole for the pond. Remember that the pump must be elevated on bricks or a platform so that the pump is completely submerged, but the fountain or bell head is above the surface. You must plan the hole so that the Large Pool (3) will reach to just above the edge of the lawn so it can be decorated with rocks.
3. Usually, a layer of sand (not included) 2” deep should be placed at the bottom of
the hole. The Large Pond (3) goes down next (on top of the sand). It is important to have the sides of the pond above the ground level. This will prevent soil from washing into the pond. Sink the Large Pool (3) in the hole so it is level and fill any remaining hole space with soil. Pack soil firmly around pond edges. Seat the Pond firmly. Some settling will occur.
4. Build a solid, flat, and level platform, or stack bricks, large enough for the pump to
sit on in the center portion of the pond. Remember that the pump must be completely submerged, but the fountain or bell head must be above the surface. Place the Fountain Pump (2) on the brick at the base of the Large Pool (3).
Note: Once you have filled the pond with water, if the pump tries to float, weigh it down
with a brick or rock.
5. Connect the outlet of the Fountain Pump (2) to the Flow Regulator (6).
6. Connect the Flow Regulator (6) to the Riser Tube (7). The Diverter (8) clamps around
the Riser Tube (7).

7. Once the hole is dug and the Large Pool (3) is in place, stack rocks toward the back
of the pond and place the smaller Decorative Tray (10). Be sure it is level. Stagger the second Decorative Tray with Hole (11) above the first Decorative Tray (10) so that the water will flow from one Tray to another and then into the pool. (about 5 inches
between). See Figure 4 on page 12. If the Trays are not level the water will not flow evenly. You want the water to cascade down and NOT sit stagnant in the Trays.
8. Put the Hose (9) into the hole in the upper Tray with Hole (11). Use a sealant com-
pound (not provided) around the hole in the Tray (11) to prevent leakage. Allow the compound to dry before filling with water. The other end of the hose will be connected to the Pump (2). Conceal the Hose as best you can with foliage and rocks but do not crimp. See Figure 2.

9. Connect either the Two Tier Fountain Head (4) or the Water Bell Fountain Head (5) to the telescopic end of the Riser Tube (7).
10. The Riser Tube (7) comes with a Diverter Connector (8) to shut off the flow of water on the side of the outlet. To activate the Diverter (8), turn the Diverter counterclockwise until it clicks. See Figure 3.
11. Connect the Hose (9) to the Fountain Pump (2).
12. Connect the other end of the Hose (9) to the Flow Regulator (6) with a Hose Clamp (not provided). Use a caulking compound (caulk not provided) around the con-
nection of the Hose to prevent the from Hose disconnecting.

13. Run the power or extension cord to the power outlet, but do not plug it in until you fill the pond and the Fountain Pump with Filter (2) are submersed in water. Note: Make sure there is no air in the connection hose between the filter and the pump.
14. Fill the pond until the pump assembly is submersed while the Fountain Head (5) remains above the surface.
15. Check that the pond water remains self-contained and that the overall appearance of the pond looks stable. With a few adjustments, the fountain in the Pool is ready for use. Decorate the edges of the pool with Flag Stones and foliage to create a lovely pool setting. (Not provided). See Figure 2.
16. Add a little anti-algae conditioner (not provided) to the water, following the directions on the bottle. This can be purchased at a Swimming Pool equipment supplier or Pet Store. Make certain the anti-algae is not toxic to any fish you may add to the pond.
17. Plug in the Transformer (1) to an electrical outlet and enjoy your pond.
Remember: If you wish to change the spray pattern, first unplug the pump at the outlet and then adjust the spray.

CLEANING THE FILTER IN THE PUMP
1. To clean the Pump Filter, remove the front cover and impeller. See Figure 5.
2. Use a small brush or stream of water to remove any debris. IF THE PUMP FAILS
TO OPERATE. CHECK THE CIRCUIT BREAKER OR TRY ANOTHER OUTLET. CHECK THAT THE PUMP IS GETTING ELECTRICAL POWER.
3. A clogged or dirty intake screen will reduce the performance. If the Pump is used
on a dirty surface, raise it slightly to reduce the amount of debris contacting the intake.
4. Adjust the Flow Control on the end of the Pump (2) for less flow or to restrict the
flow. See Figure 5.
5. Do not let the Pump run when it is NOT submerged in water. Running the pump
