1. Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas invite injuries.
2. Keep children away. Children must never be allowed in the w ork area. Do
not let them handle machines, tools, or extension cords .
3. Use the right product for the job. There are certain applications for which
this product was designed. Do not use this accent light f or lighting a w alkwa y.
It does not have enough illumination pow er. Do not modify this product and
do not use it for a purpose for which it was not intended.
4. Check for damaged parts. Bef ore using any product, any part that appears
damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate
properly and perform its intended function. A ny part that is damaged should
be properly repaired or replaced by a qualified technician.
5. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical
replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use
accessories intended for use with this product. Approved accessories are
available from Harbor Freight Tools.
6. Maintenance. F or your saf ety , service and maintenance should be performed
regularly by a qualified technician.

Unpacking
When unpacking, check to make sure that all the parts are included. If an y parts
are missing or broken, please call Harbor F reight Tools at the number on the cov er
of this manual.

Operation
1. To enable operation, carefully slide the Switch to the On position.
2. Test the Light by first setting it in the sun for one hour to (minimally) charge
the Batteries, then place in a darkened room. If light is generated, it is
working. If it does not light, ref er to the Oper ating Tips, below.
3. To assemble, carefully screw in the Stak e Tube (3) into the bottom of the Light
Housing (1). Then screw in the Stake (2) into the bottom of the Stake Tube (3)
4. Pick the location for the Solar Garden Light where the sun will hit it f or at least
eight hours during the day. Verify On/Off Switch is in the On position.
If placed in the yard, carefully insert the assembled unit into the grass or soft
ground. First chec k, and a v oid, underg round wires; Do not hammer into the
ground.
5. The light will automatically turn on after the sun sets. Mak e sure no other light
source hits it at night (i.e., porch light).
Operating Tips
1. If the light does not turn on, the Switch may be in the Off position.
2. Initially, it may take three sunny days to fully charge the Batteries.
3. Normally , eight hours of daily, direct sunlight on the top solar cells is required
to operate.
4. A dim light may be due to a weak or dead battery, or lack of sunlight. Replace
batteries when this happens. Normally, the batteries should last one year.

5. A dirty surface on the solar panel will not let in enough sunlight to allow the
batteries to charge. This will shorten battery life, and cause the light to
malfunction. Periodically clean the solar panel with a clean cloth and water.
6. Before storing the unit, slide the On/Off Switch to the Off position.
Replacing the Batteries
1. Push the On/Off Switch to the Off position.
2. Remove the two Cap Nuts on top of the Light Housing (1) and carefully pull
off the Top. See photo below and on the previous page.
3. Unscrew the two Phillip Head Screws holding the Battery Cover in place .
4. Remove the Battery Cover and the e xisting Batteries. Replace with new
batteries of the same type (see Specification Table), being careful of the
polarity (+ and –).
5. Replace the Battery Cover and Screws.
6. Carefully insert the LED Light into the hole of the Light Housing (1) and align
the Mounting Screws into the holes in the Top .
7. Screw in the Cap Nuts.
Caution: Moisture entering the housing could damage parts. Be sure the Cap
Nuts are tight.
