WORK AREA
1. Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered benches and dark areas invite accidents.
2. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite flammables.
3. Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. Protect others in the work area from debris such as chips and sparks. Provide barriers or shields as needed.
PERSONAL SAFETY
1. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention while operat-
ing power tools may result in serious personal injury.
2. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
3. Avoid accidental starting. Be sure the Engine’s Throttle Control (71) is
off before transporting the Cultivator or performing any maintenance or service on the unit. Transporting or performing maintenance or service on a
power tool with its Throttle Control ON invites accidents.
4. Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning on the tool. A wrench or a key that is left attached to a rotating part of the tool may result in personal injury.
5. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations.
6. Use safety equipment. Always wear ANSI approved safety glasses under-
neath a full face shield, a dust mask or respirator, and hearing protection.
TOOL USE AND CARE
1. Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed.
SKU 91959 For technical questions please call 1-800-444-3353 PAGE 3
Page 4
2. Do not use the power tool if the Engine’s Throttle Control (71) does not turn it on or off. Any gasoline powered tool that cannot be controlled with the Engine’s Throttle Control is dangerous and must be replaced.
3. Disconnect the Engine Spark Plug Wire from the Spark Plug before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing the tool. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.
4. Store idle tools out of reach of children and other untrained persons. Tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
5. Maintain tools with care. Do not use a damaged tool. Tag damaged tools “Do not use” until repaired.
6. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts,
cracking or breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the tool’s operation. If damaged, have the tool serviced before using. Many
accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
7. Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for your model. Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may become hazardous when used on another tool.
SERVICE
1. Tool service must be performed only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.
2. When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow
instructions in the manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow maintenance instructions
may create a risk of injury.

7. Use the Cultivator only in well ventilated outdoor areas. Carbon monoxide
fumes exhausted from the Engine (1) are a colorless, odorless gas that, if inhaled, can cause serious injury or death.
8. Only use a suitable means of transport and lifting devices with sufficient weight bearing capacity when transporting the Cultivator. Only use sturdy
loading ramps with sufficient weight bearing capacity. Secure the Cultivator on transport vehicles to prevent the tool from rolling, slipping, and tilting.
9. Never leave the Cultivator unattended while it is running.
10. Always keep a safe distance away from the edges and banks of ditches and
avoid any actions that may cause the Cultivator from toppling over.
11. Do not use the Cultivator on steep inclines. Use the Cultivator only on level ground surfaces.
12. Always park the Cultivator on a firm and level surface.
at least six feet from the Cultivator during operation.
13. Thoroughly inspect the area where the Cultivator is to be used and remove all large sticks, stones, wires, or other foreign objects.
14. Always turn off the Engine and disconnect the Spark Plug (1) before unclogging the Tines (37, 50, 40). Always protect your hands by wearing heavy duty work gloves.
15. Before operating the Cultivator, make sure its Guards are attached and in proper working condition.

4. Never store fuel or other flammable materials near the Cultivator.
5. Do not smoke, or allow sparks, flames or other sources of ignition around
the Engine and Fuel Tank. Fuel vapors are explosive.
6. Keep grounded conductive objects, such as tools, away from exposed, live electrical parts and connections to avoid sparking or arcing. These events
could ignite fumes or vapors.
7. Always fill the Engine’s Gas Tank to approximately 1-1/2” below the top of
the neck of the Tank to allow for fuel expansion. Do not overfill.
8. Do not refill the Fuel Tank while the Engine is running or while the Engine is still hot. Do not operate the Cultivator with known leaks in the fuel system.
9. Excessive buildup of unburned fuel gases in the exhaust system can create a potentially explosive condition. This buildup can occur after repeated failed start attempts, valve testing, or hot engine shutdown. If this occurs,
open exhaust system drain plugs, if equipped, and allow the gases to dissipate before attempting to restart the Engine.
10. Always check the Engine oil level prior to starting the Engine. Make sure to read and understand the change schedules.
