Personal safety
Stay alert. Watch what you are do-a. ing and use common sense when operating the tool. Do not use the tool while tired or under the inu­ence of drugs, alcohol, or medica­tion. A moment of inattention while
operating the tool increases the risk of injury to persons.
Avoid unintentional starting. Be b. sure the switch is off before con­necting to the air supply. Do not
carry the tool with your nger on the
switch or connect the tool to the air supply with the switch on.
Do not overreach. Keep proper c. footing and balance at all times.
Proper footing and balance enables better control of the tool in unexpect­ed situations.
Do not use the tool if the switch b. does not turn the tool on or off.
Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the tool from the air c. source before making any adjust­ments, changing accessories, or storing the tool. Turn the switch to
its off position and disconnect from the battery.
Store the tool when it is idle out of d. reach of children and other un­trained persons. A tool is dangerous
in the hands of untrained users.
Maintain the tool with care. e.

Unpacking
When unpacking, make sure that the item is intact and undamaged. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number shown throughout the manual as soon as pos­sible.
This air tool may be shipped with a protective plug covering the air inlet. Remove this plug before set up.

1. The air hose must be long enough to reach the work area with enough extra length to allow free movement while working.
2. Turn the tool’s On/Off switch to the “OFF” position; refer to Operation section for description of controls.
3. Inspect the air connections for leaks. Repair any leaks found.
Route the air hose along a safe route 2. to reach the work area without creat­ing a tripping hazard or exposing the air hose to possible damage. The air hose must be long enough to reach the work area with enough extra length to allow free movement while working.

Inspect tool before use, looking for damaged, loose, and missing parts. If any problems are found, do not use tool until repaired.
Tool Set Up
TO PREVENT
SERIOUS INJURY: Do not adjust or tamper with any control or component in a
way not specically explained
within this manual. Improper adjustment can result in tool failure or other serious hazards.
Work Piece and Work Area Set Up
Designate a work area that is clean 1. and well-lit. The work area must not allow access by children or pets to prevent distraction and injury.

Set tool on a dry, at, level surface. 1.
To prevent accidents, turn the On/Off 2. Switch (25) to the “OFF” position.
Attach the quick coupler of coiled Air 3. Hose (59) to male connector at the end of Rubber Hose (53).
NOTE: 4. Be sure to pull back on collar
of Air Hose’s coupler. Then rmly
insert connector into coupler. (See Figure 1.) Release collar, which will snap connector in place. Pull lightly on both hoses to ensure proper locking in the coupler.
Attach the clamps on the Power Cord 5. (27) onto the 12V automotive battery (not included) power source.
Connect RED clamp of the Com-a. pressor to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.

NOTE: In the case of a football or soccer ball, pull the Needle Nozzle (63), out of the ball valve orice.
NOTE: After disconnecting the Com­pressor, it is advisable to verify tire pressure with a tire pressure gauge
(not included). Holding the Air Nozzle Grip (56), 9. thread the Air Nozzle (55) onto the
valve stem of the item to be inated,

TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM TOOL FAILURE: Do not use damaged equipment. If abnormal noise, vibration, or leaking air occurs, have the problem corrected before further use.

17. Allow this compressor to cool, then wipe down and replace into the stor­age bag supplied with this unit. (See Fig. 3.) Note: There is also a small
storage bag for inator nozzles that is
attached to the Rubber Hose.

USER-MAINTENANCE
INSTRUCTIONS
Procedures not specically
explained in this manual must be performed only by a
qualied technician.
TO PREVENT
SERIOUS INJURY FROM ACCIDENTAL OPERATION: Turn off the tool, detach the Power supply clamps, safely discharge any residual air pressure in the tool, and release the throttle and/or turn the switch to its off position before performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning procedures.
Note: These procedures are in addition to
the regular checks and maintenance explained as part of the regular op­eration of the Air Compressor.
Wipe down the compressor with a 1. clean dry cloth.
Check the hoses to be sure there are 2. no cracks or worn areas.
Rotate Filter counterclockwise and 3. remove from the compressor. Gently pry the cover from the threaded end. Remove the lter, wash in warm wa­ter and liquid soap (no harsh powder soap), rinse thoroughly, and let dry
Insert back into the lter holder. Align 4. the three indexing ribs on lter hous-
ing with the three recessed grooves
in the lter cover and push the cover,
snapping it onto the housing. Thread the assembly back into the front cov­er, being careful not to cross thread it.
Lubricate the Shaft (30) and Piston 5. Ring (31) after using 20 times.
Remove four Screws (4) holding the a. Front Cover (5) in place and slide the Front Cover off. (See Assembly Diagram.)
Put a drop or two of machine oil on b. the Shaft (30) and Piston Ring (31).

Note: Turn the Compressor upside down to allow the oil to penetrate onto the piston rings.
