SIGNIFICANCE AND USESIGNIFICANCE AND USE
The disinfectant properties of iodine have led to its use as an alternative to chlorine and bromine.
However, its toxic and corrosive properties and the difficulties of dissolving it in water has limited a more wide-spread application. One of its most common application is in poultry industry process water.
Note: mg/L is equivalent to ppm (parts per million).
CHEMICAL REACTIONCHEMICAL REACTION

CHEMICAL REACTIONCHEMICAL REACTION
The reaction between iodine and the reagent causes a reddish tint in the sample. The amount of color developed is proportional to the concentration of iodine present in the aqueous sample.
