2. Installation and use
Connecting a storage device
1. Connect a SATA device (hard disk, SSD, optical drive) to the
SATA connector (2) of the XU3SATA adapter.
2. Connect the external power supply to the DC power input (3) of
the XU3SATA with the included power cable adapter.
3. Connect the power adapter to a power outlet.
4. Connect the mini USB plug of the included USB 3.0 cable to the
mini USB port (1) of the XU3SATA.
5. Connect the USB cable to a free USB 3.0 port of your computer.
6. The XU3SATA adapter and the connected SATA device will be
recognized and installed automatically. No driver installation is
required.
Important Notes
• The XU3SATA adapter can also be used on a computer with
USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 ports, but the data transfer speed will be
lower.
• If you connect a new and unused hard disk, it will not appear as
a new drive on your computer. You need to partition and format
a new and unused hard disk before you can use it.
OTB (One Touch Backup) function
The One Touch Backup (OTB) function allows you to back up data
on external hard drive by pressing a single button on the device.
OTB button must be configured with the software supplied with the
product (Windows only).
