Problem . . . Solution . . . Toast/bagel/bun too
light or too dark
• Turn the shade selector dial to adjust the setting. See the “Toasting Guide” for recommended settings.
• If only preparing two slices, be sure the controls for that side of the toaster are set to the desired settings.
• On Model HTS455, the position of the voltage switch will affect toasting results. If toast too light, change to 208V setting. If toast too dark, change to 240V setting.
Toast only done on one side, or bagels/buns toasted on both sides
• Bread/Bagel (Bun) selector switch in wrong position. Change setting for the correct food type. See graphic on top of toaster for proper bagel orientation.
Troubleshooting Guide
Bread lifter will not latch in the down position.
• A power outage may have occurred.
• Check that the toaster is plugged in.
• Make sure 3 seconds have elapsed since the last toasting cycle.
Thick food item is wedged in the toaster slot.
• If a food item becomes jammed, the toaster will shut off automatically. Unplug the toaster and allow it to cool. Then, carefully remove the jammed food item with a wooden utensil.
