External convenience functions
The convenience functions Call waiting, Transfer, Return, Accept other call and Three-party conference must be applied for from your service
provider. In the case of Deutsche Telekom AG, these services are provided under the designation of T-Net functions, and can only be used at a main connection, if you have set the Flash time to 300 ms. You can also use these functions if you are operating your telephone on a modern PABX system. Set the Flash time as specified in the operating instructions of the PABX system – usually 100 (90) ms. Further details can also be taken from the operating instructions of your PABX system. The following description of the convenience functions does not therefore have to match the specifications of your PABX system.
Call waiting and transfer
You have your telephone connected to a main connection provided by Deutsche Telekom, and during a call, you hear the ‘Call waiting’ tone. Press the R-button in order to put the current call on hold. You now hear the special dial tone. You can now answer the second call by pressing button 2. To return to the first call, simply press the R-button again and then press button 2 again. You will now be reconnected to the first caller, and the second call will be on hold. You can repeat this procedure as often as required to switch between the two calls.
If you are operating your telephone on a PABX system, then proceed in the same way, although press the R-button again instead of pressing button 2.
19
Page 20
Call back and transfer
With the function Call back/Transfer, you can carry out two calls alternately, without either caller being able to hear what you are saying to the other. You can accept a “waiting” call, or call a second number yourself. This function also forms the basis for a three-party conference call.
You are making one call, and need to obtain information from a second subscriber (internal or external). Press the R-button in order to put the first call on hold. You now hear the special dial tone. Dial the call number of the second subscriber, and carry out this call.
You can out the second call on hold by pressing the R-button. Now press button 2 to return to the first call. You can now switch as required between the two calls.
If you now want to end the call after your enquiry to the second subscriber, press the R-button and then button 1. The connection to the second subscriber will now be broken.
Three-party conference call
With this function, you can call two people at the same time,
with everyone being able to take part in the conversation. The connection is made as described under Call waiting/Call back/Transfer.
20
When being used on a PABX system, you can always switch between the two calls by pressing the R-button twice. Both connections will be broken by pressing the “on-hook” button on the handset.
Page 21
If you have already made two connections, e.g. via Transfer or Call back, and you now want to set up a three-party conference call, simply press the R-button. The currently active call will be put on holds, and you will hear the special dial tone.
Now press button 3. The three-party conference will now be set up.
If one of the three speakers hangs up his handset, the call with the second subscriber can be continued.
The three-party conference can be discontinued either by replacing the telephone in the base unit or pressing the Stop button.
If the telephone is connected to a PABX system, please follow the instructions given in the operating instructions of the PABX system.

Setting the Flash time
The Flash time can be set to either 100 ms (short) or 300 ms (long). Which Flash time you set depends on from which type of connection you want to operate the telephone:
· on a main connection with use of the convenience functions or
· on a PABX system that provides similar functions.
The convenience functions Call waiting, Transfer, Call back, Accept other call and Three-party conference must be applied for from your service provider. In the case of Deutsche Telekom AG, these services are provided under the designation of T-Net functions, and can only be used at a main connection, if you have set the Flash time to 300 ms. You can also use these functions if you are operating your telephone on a modern telecommunications system. Set the Flash time as specified in the operating instructions of the PABX system – usually 100 (90) ms. Further details can also be taken from the operating instructions of your PABX system.

Text messages (SMS)
General
You can also write, send and receive text messages (SMS) with your handset. These messages can only be received by SMScapable devices such as PCs, mobile telephones, other telephones and fax machines. If the recipient has no SMS-capable telephone, he will receive the SMS as a speech message.
Requirements:
The Caller-ID (CLIP) and the call number transmission on your landline telephone connection must be activated! Note also the Chapter “Configuring the SMS menu”.
Contact your service provider and ensure that these performance features are activated for your telephone connection. You may have to apply for these performance features from your service provider. The performance feature “Caller-ID” is a chargeable service. Remember also that not
every provider, even in the GMS range, supports the transmission of SMS messages to the landline network, and may only transmit the SMS message acoustically.
Your telephone is preset to the SMS Centre of Deutsche Telekom. You can of course change these entries.
Note:
You can obtain up-to-date information from the telephone information service or by calling off a fax from:

Deutsche Telekom AG
Here you will be registered once only and free of charge by sending an SMS with the text ANMELD (REGISTER) to the call number 8 8 8 8. You will then receive from the SMS centre confirmation of your registration. If you do not receive confirmation, please check whether your system meets the necessary requirements!
63

You can also de-register yourself by sending an SMS with the text ABMELD (DE-REGISTER) to the call number 8 8 8 8. Incoming SMS messages will then be read out.
As soon as you have sent your first SMS by landline, your connection will automatically be activated for the receipt of SMS messages. If no text messages can be received, please check whether your system meets the necessary requirements. If this is the case, send an SMS to the service number 2547. You will then be re-registered, and will receive an SMS as confirmation.
SMS redirection
If you are using the SMS centre of Deutsche Telekom AG, you can have your SMS messages redirected in the event of absence to another call number. If you set this feature, all SMS messages will immediately be redirected to the specified call number.

Note: If you are operating your SMS-telephone on a PAX system
(telephone extension system), please find out from the manufacturer whether the system is SMS-capable. The Clip switching to the telecommunications system is not sufficient to be able to receive an SMS as a text message. SMS messages will in this case be read out only. You can however send an SMS.
