The HAFCO Digital readout and scale can be easily adapted to any machine or process. The scale is manufactured from aluminimim and can be cut to length to suit the size required.
Mounting The Scale
1. Measure the length of the scale required., Place some masking tape over the black magnetic strip where the cut is required to protect the magnetic strip and cut to the size.
2. Fit the reader head mounting bracket supplied to the back of the reader head with the two screws.
3. Mount the scale to the machine using the two mounting brackets suppled.
4. Check the setup with a dial indicator to insure that the scale is parallel and in line with the axis.
5. Mark out the holes for the reader head bracket making sure that the full travel of the slide can be made, then drill and tap the two holes to take the reader head bent bracket and attach so that the reader head is secured. (packing may be required to insure that the scale travels freely in the reader head)
Operation
1. ON/OFF To operate the read out press the ON/OFF button. Each time you switch on the display the display will remember the position that the scale was at when the display was switched off
2. Zero. Move the table or lathe carriage to the datum point and press the ZERO button. The display can be set to zero at any point along the scale. (The datum point is where all the measurements are to be taken from.)
3. ABS. (absolute measurement) The ABS button when pressed will add INC to the screen. (Incremental measurement) Example:- If the readout is 0.00 and does not display INC then move the scale so that is reads 90mm. If you press ABS button now, INC will appear in the display and the readout changes to 0.00. Move the scale so that it reads 3.19 and press the ABS button again so that INC is removed from the display, and the readout will add the 3.19 to the 90.00 and read 93.19. You can change from ABS to INC as many times as you want to.
4. IN/MM Press this button and the readout changes from metric to imperial display.
5. SET The set button is not used for these models
Replacing the Battery
To replace the battery turn the display unit over and slide the battery cover in the direction of the arrow. 2 x CR2032 batteries are housed in the display. If after you have replaced the batteries the screen is frozen then remove the batteries for 5 minutes and then replace them again Note! Remove the batteries if the unit is not to be used for a long period as the batteries are still being used when switched OFF to hold the memory
