· Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been
dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to the manufacturer.
· Do not abuse the cord. Never carry the charger by the cord or yank to disconnect from an outlet; instead grasp the charger and pull to disconnect. Keep cord away from heated surfaces. Do not pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not close door on the charger cord. If cord or product is damaged do not use.
· Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
· Unplug the power supply from the outlet before any routine cleaning or maintenance.
· Turn off all controls before unplugging.
· Leaks from battery cells can occur under extreme conditions. If the liquid gets on the skin
(1) wash quickly with soap and water or (2) neutralize with a mild acid such as lemon juice or vinegar. If the liquid gets into the eyes, flush them immediately with clean water for a minimum of 10 minutes. Seek medical attention.
· Use only the power supply supplied by the manufacturer.
What is UV-C and why is it so effective at destroying germs like bacteria, viruses, and mold?
UV-C is part of the ultraviolet light spectrum that is filtered out by the earth’s atmosphere. The “C” stands for the particular frequency of UV light that kills germs, (200nm to 280nm). UV-C light is highly effective at killing microorganisms. Hospitals use UV-C light to sanitize surfaces and to eliminate germs.

FEATURES GUIDELINES FOR HOUSEHOLD APPLICATIONS

Ergonomic Non-Slip Handle
1. Bed mattresses, quilts, pillows: Vacuum the mattress first. Hold UV-C Sanitizer Wand approximately 1 inch above the surface and move the UV-C Sanitizer Wand over a 12 inch area for 20 seconds. Continue until the entire desired surface is covered.
2. Animal mattresses and enclosures. Refer to Number 1 for directions.
3. Personal hygiene items: Expose items such as personal razors, brushes combs and other personal hygiene implements at close range for a minimum of 10 seconds.
4. Kitchen utensils: Hold the wand at close range, exposing knives, utensils, chopping boards for a minimum of 10 seconds. Use away from water sources.
5. Bathroom Germs and Odors: Hold the wand approximately 2 inches above the surface of the toilet seat or sink and slowly move the wand sideways over the entire surface for a total of 20 seconds. Be careful not to immerse the wand in water.
6. Shoes: Expose once a week at close range for five minutes to help kill germs that cause odors. Expose the soles of your shoes more frequently - the soles are the major source of bringing bacteria into the home!
7. Computers, Doorknobs, Telephones, etc.: Expose at a distance of 1 inch for approximately 10 seconds.
8. Sanitizing Tip: Effective sanitizing can generally be achieved in 20 seconds at a distance of approximately 1 inch.

5. 3 Operating modes: 5 Minute Operating Mode, 60 Minute Operating Mode, Continuous Operating Mode.
SAFETY FEATURES
1. Special glass filter which shields and protects users from direct contact with UV-C light.
2. The UV light automatically turns off after the prescribed time period has passed.
3. The UV light automatically shuts off when the wand has been turned over (bulb facing up). The wand will resume working when turned back in the working position (bulb facing down).
Attention: Do not unplug the product during the sanitizing cycle

AC POWER CORD OPERATION
1. Set up for UV-C Sanitizer Wand: Insert power cord connector into the handle of the UV-C Sanitizer Wand. (Fig. 1) Plug AC cord into electrical outlet.
2. To Turn On: Simply press and hold the switch for 3 seconds. LED screen will display “00” and beep to indicate the activation. (Fig. 2) Press the switch again to select the operating mode. UV-C Sanitizer Wand will not light up until the operating mode is selected. If no operating mode is selected within one minute, unit will automatically turn off.
3. To Turn Off: No matter which operating mode is in use, press and hold the switch for 3 seconds, and the unit will turn off. (Fig. 3)
BATTERY OPERATION
1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to open the battery cover. Insert 4 AA Alkaline batteries and close the cover. (Fig. 4)
2. To Turn On: Simply press and hold the switch for 3 seconds. LED screen will display “00” and beep to indicate that the UV-C Sanitizer Wand is on. (Fig. 2) Press the switch again to select the operating mode. UV-C Sanitizer Wand will not light up until the operating mode is selected. If no operating mode is selected within one minute, unit will automatically turn off.
3. To Turn Off: No matter which operating mode is in use, press and hold the switch for 3 seconds, and the unit will turn off. (Fig. 3)
4. Power Shortage: LED light will start to flash and start beeping when the batteries are running low on power. (Fig. 5)
OPERATING MODES
UV-C Sanitizer Wand has three different operating modes:
5 Minute Operating Mode, 60 Minute Operating Mode, (This is the recommended mode of operation) Continuous Operating Mode.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
1. 5 Minute Operating Mode (05) (Fig. 6):
A. Note that when the unit is on or in Continuous Operating
Mode, push once to enter 5 Minute Operating Mode. UV-C bulb will light up, LED screen will display 5 minutes. It will start counting down in 3 seconds.
B. When selecting 5 Minute Operating Mode, all product
systems will automatically shut off after 5 minutes.
C. To turn off the UV-C bulb before 5 minutes, simply press
and hold the switch for 3 seconds.
2. 60 Minute Operating Mode (60) (Fig. 7):
A. When LED screen display is in 5 Minute Operating Mode,
press the switch one time to enter to Basic Mode (60 minutes). LED screen will display 60 minutes. It will start counting down in 3 seconds.
B. When operating 60 Minute Operating Mode, all product
systems will automatically shut off after 60 minutes.
C. To turn off the UV-C bulb before 60 minutes, simply press
and hold the switch for 3 seconds.
3. Continuous Operating Mode (
CC) (Fig. 8):
A. When LED screen display is in 60 Minute Operating Mode,
press the switch one time to enter Continuous Operating Mode. LED screen will display CC and remain still.
B. In Continuous Operating Mode (
CC) the UV-C bulb will
remain lit. All product systems will not shut off until the power is turned off or running out of battery power.
C. To turn off the unit, simply press and hold the switch
for 3 seconds.

To the consumer, Guardian Technologies LLC warrants this product to be free of defects in materials or workmanship commencing upon the date of the original purchase. Save your original sales receipt to validate start of warranty period.

The warranty does not include unusual wear, damage resulting from accident, or unreasonable use of the product. This warranty does not cover unauthorized repairs. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights (other rights may vary from state to state in the U.S.A). Use only Germ Guardian replacement parts.

BATTERY DISPOSAL
To preserve natural resources, please recycle or dispose of expired batteries properly. This product MUST BE disposed of properly. Local, state or federal laws may prohibit disposal of batteries in ordinary trash. Consult your local waste authority for information regarding available recycling and/or disposal options.
LIGHT BULB DISPOSAL
MERCURY NOTICE
This device contains mercury in the sealed ultraviolet bulbs. Do not place your used bulb(s) in the trash. Dispose of properly.
BROKEN BULB CLEAN UP
Do not use a household vacuum. Sweep debris (phosphor/glass) into a plastic bag and dispose of properly. It is recommended that the UV-C bulbs are recycled or taken to a household-hazardous­waste collection center. Call your county recycling coordinator to find the recycling center nearest you.
