IMPORTANT:
FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AND BYSTANDERS READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE OPERATING THE MACHINE. PLEASE KEEP THE INSTRUCTIONS SAFE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
WARNING: When using the machine the safety instructions must be followed.
WARNING: THIS PRODUCT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES.
Read all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in
electric shock, re and/or serious injury.
The term “power tool” in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
WARNING:
When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be observed, including the following, to reduce
the risk of re, electrical shock, or injury.
Work area:
•Keep work area clean and well lit.
Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
•Do not operate power tools in explosive
atmospheres, such as in the presence of
ammable liquids, gases or dust. Power
tools create sparks which may ignite the dust and fumes.
•Keep children and bystanders away while
operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
•Not to be used as a toy. Not to be used
near children. Never allow children to use the power tool. When not in use store the power tool out of the reach of children.
•Always be sure of your footing on ladders
or slopes, do not over-reach or use on
excessively steep slopes.
Electrical safety:
•Power tool plugs must match the outlet.
Never modify the plug in any way.
•Do not use any adaptor plugs with
earthed (grounded) power tools.
Unmodied plugs and matching outlets
will reduce the risk of electric shock.
•Avoid body contact with earthed or
grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
•Do not expose power tools to rain or wet
conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
•Do not abuse the cord. Never use the
cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
•When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor
use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
•If the cord becomes damaged during use
disconnect the cord from the power supply immediately- DO NOT touch the cable before disconnecting.
•Before use check the power supply and
charger cables for signs of damage or ageing.
•When charging or operating the power
tool it is recommended that the appliance should be supplied via a residual current device (RCD) with a tripping current of not more than 30mA.
•Do not handle the charger or the power
tool with wet hands.
Personal Safety:
•Stay alert, watch what you are doing
and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use any power tool
while you are tired or under the inuence
of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment

of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
•Always be aware of your surroundings
and stay alert for possible hazards that you may not be aware of due to concentration on the power tool.
•Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as non

•Do not operate when barefoot or wearing
open sandals.

long trousers.
•Dress appropriately. Do not wear loose
clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
•Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the
switch is in the off position before plugging
in. Carrying power tools with your ngers
on the switches or plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
•Remove any adjusting key or wrench
before starting the power tool. A key or wrench left in a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
•Do not overreach. Keep proper footing
and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in
unexpected situations.
•Take care in slippery conditions, and on
slopes and uneven ground.
•Do not run with the power tool.
•When operating the power tool ensure
that both hands are correctly positioned on both handles. Do not operate this product if incomplete or with unauthorized
modications.
•Keep hands and feet away from the
cutting element at all times, and especially when switching on.
•Warning, the cutting element will continue
to move after the motor is switched off.
•Ensure that the motor has fully stopped
before cleaning, clearing a blockage,
checking, or carrying out maintenance on the power tool.
•Never operate the power tool with
damaged guards or without the guards in place.
•The operator or user is responsible for
accidents or hazards occuring to other people at their property.
•Never t metal cutting elements.
•This appliance is not intended for use by
persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities,
or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
•Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with the appliance.
•Take care against any device tted for trimming the lament line length. After extending a new cutter line always return
the machine to its normal operating position before switching on.
Power tool use and care:
•Do not force the power tool. Use the
correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
•Do not use the power tool if the switch
does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
•Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from
the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measure reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally,

•Check that the cutting blades are
cleanand without damage. If the blade becomes worn a replacement should be
tted before use.

Care and maintenance
To ensure long and reliable service, carry out the following maintenance regularly:
Check for obvious defects such as loose, dislodged, worn or damaged parts.
Check that covers and guards are correctly tted and undamaged.
Before use, visually check the condition of the cutting blade. If worn replace with a fresh blade.
Clean inside the guard after use. Remove any dirt or debris using a suitable wooden or plastic tool. Do not use water, solvents, or polishes to clean the
trimmer. Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Store in a dry place. Do not expose to
moisture.
Cutting and edging
Caution: before use remove any stones, loose debris and other objects from the cutting area.
Always take care when other people are around you. The trimmer may throw out stones and debris at high speed.
WARNING : always wear eye protection when using the trimmer.
Hold the trimmer away from the body using both hands. Stand in a secure and stable position. When cutting move slowly and steadily along the line of cut, moving the trimmer from side to side.
Take care not to overload the trimmer. Attempting to force the trimmer to cut may
damage the motor. To prevent overloading cut long or difcult foliage in stages
with several light cuts.
NOTE: the trimmer is tted with a self-resetting protective cut-out. This will
stop the trimmer if the motor becomes overloaded. If this occurs, wait a few
seconds for the cut-out to reset and then use lighter cuts.
Take care not to grind the rotating parts against the ground as this will wear parts and cause damage to the trimmer.
Take care when trimming around objects such as stone or concrete as these can damage the trimmer blade and parts that attach the blade.
