The batteries
Charging the batteries
Before you can use your telephone, the batteries must
be charged.
Put the mobile unit, with the buttons facing forward, into
the base station or the charging station (accessory). The
LED on the mobile unit flashes green.
If the batteries are flat (the LED »™« flashes), a
charging cycle can take up to 10 hours.
Battery charge level
The display shows the charge level of the batteries.
The number of lines indicates the charge level of the
batteries (»™« flat, flashing, »∫« charged, no
longer flashing). If the batteries are almost flat, the
»™ « symbol flashes, the background lighting of the
display does not light up and a warning signal sounds
(provided you have not deactivated it, see the ”Settings”
chapter on page 46). This also happens if the charged
batteries are briefly taken out and then put back in.
New batteries normally only reach their full capacity
after they have been charged and discharged several
times. Although the battery indicator signals that the
batteries in the mobile unit are charged, you must
expect the call and stand-by time to be shorter while the
batteries are new.
Battery operating time
In stand-by mode, the operating time of the batteries is
up to 4 days (NiMH batteries), or 8 hours during
continuous calling.
Battery lifetime
Note the following, in order to prolong the lifetime of
the batteries:
– Do not let the contacts touch greasy parts or short
circuit.
– Use the mobile unit as a mobile telephone, and do
not replace it on the base station or charging unit
after every telephone call.
