To Use

iPod Dock Connector

To play your iPod through
Journi's speakers, slide your
iPod onto the raised dock connector.

On/Off Switch

Press once to activate. Journi will
wake up at the last volume setting.

Volume Controls

Press once to raise or lower
volume in steps. Press and hold
to adjust the volume faster.

Special Features

Depth Adjustment Wheel

Moves the Adjustment
Pad to the ideal position
for your iPod. Turn the
wheel to the left or right
to move the pad forward
or back. Set it once, then
forget it.

Port Cover
Remove to access
Journi's Power Port
and Auxiliary
Audio Input.

Battery Charge Meter

Press once; the green
LEDs will illuminate
to show battery charge.

Auxiliary Audio Input
Use a 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo
audio cable to connect
MP3, CD and other audio
players. This port is
disabled when an
iPod is seated on the
dock connector.

Reinforced Wrapstand
Protects Journi when you're not using it.
To set up, fold the wrapstand behind the unit
and slide the tab into its corresponding slot.

To Charge or Power Journi

Connect the Male Dock Connector
cable (included) to recharge. The
USB plug connects to the included
Griffin PowerBlock
operation, or to to any powered
USB port on your computer.

Seating & Removing your iPod

Your iPod should sit securely on the
dockconnector with its face even with
the front of Journi’s speaker grilles.

Journi’s cradle is designed to support
your iPod as it plays. However, it does
not lock your iPod in place or prevent
it from falling if Journi is turned upside
down or sideways when the wrapstand
is open. To protect your iPod and Journi,
you should always close the wrapstand
before moving the unit.

To set the Adjustment Pad, slowly turn
the Depth Adjustment Wheel on Journi’s
back. Once you’ve set the depth for your
iPod, you shouldn’t have to adjust it again
until you use a different iPod model.

Tighten

Loosen

IMPORTANT: To remove your full-size
iPod from the cradle, do NOT pull the
iPod away from the cradle area. Doing
so places excess strain on the dock
connector and can damage Journi’s
connector and your iPod.

Instead, press your fingers or two thumbs
lightly on the face of the iPod and slide
gently upward. It will disengage from the
dock connector and slide out.

For the iPod nano, simply grasp the iPod
on both sides and gently push straight up
untill the iPod slides free.

Battery

Journi is equipped with a built-in,
high-output Lithium-Ion battery
designed to play up to ten hours on
a full charge. In-battery circuitry
prevents over-charging.

Griffin's Dual Fuel technology gives
you two ways to recharge:

USB Charging

First, remove your iPod from the dock.
Then, plug the USB-to-dock-connector
cable into Journi’s Power Port and a
powered USB port on your computer.
Once Journi’s fully recharged, return
your iPod to the dock, and your iPod
can sync with your computer. The
USB-to-dock-connector cable can
also be used to connect Journi to
Griffin’s PowerJolt or PowerDuo
auto power adapters, to charge
Journi on the go.

AC Charging

Use the included Griffin PowerBlock
AC adapter and USB-to-dock-connector
cable to charge Journi by plugging into
any 100V - 240V wall outlet.

Journi can be used during either
charging method.

WOW® Sound

Remote

Journi has been designed to provide
massive sound in a compact, easy-to­carry package. Two high-performance
drivers and two passive radiators use
SRS Labs’ SRS WOW
shaping technology to produce the
experience of an expanded sound
stage and deep, rich bass. Used with
your iPod, SRS WOW programming
maximizes the sound.

When you connect a non-iPod digital
music player through Journi’s Auxiliary
Audio Input, adjust your player to
approximately 75% of top volume
for best sound quality.

Slip the multi-function remote
from its recess to control
Journi from a distance.

Journi’s remote snaps into the recess
on the back of the unit for storage.

Press once to skip to the next track.
Press and hold to scan forward quickly
through a track.

Press to adjust the system Volume up.
Press once to return to the beginning

of the current track, or twice to skip to
the beginning of the previous track.
Press and hold to scan backward
quickly through a track.

Press once to pause; again, to resume.

Press to adjust the system Volume down.

Press to turn Journi on and off.

Troubleshooting

Technical Support

No Sound from Journi

Check Journi’s battery charge (pg. 2).

Check that iPod is powered on
and seated completely on the dock
connector (pg. 3).

Check that a song is playing on your iPod.

Check Journi’s volume level (pg. 2).

If using a player other than an iPod,
ensure an iPod is NOT seated in Journi’s
dock. When Journi detects that an iPod
is present, the Auxiliary Audio Input is
switched off.

Remote control doesn’t control remotely

Check that the remote control battery
is fresh.

Check that your iPod is powered on.

Reset Journi by gently pressing the reset
switch (the small hole below the Power
Switch) with a straightened paperclip.
This will reset Journi.

Gebruik

Aan/uit-schakelaar

Eenmaal drukken om te activeren.
Journi wordt geactiveerd met de
laatste volume-instelling.

iPod-dockconnector

Om uw iPod af te spelen via
de luidsprekers van de Journi,
schuift u de iPod op de opstaande
dockconnector.

Volumeregeling

Eenmaal indrukken om het volume in
stappen te verhogen of te verlagen.
Ingedrukt houden om het volume
sneller aan te passen.

Verstevigde wikkelvoet
Beschermt de Journi wanneer u het
apparaat niet gebruikt. Voor de installatie
vouwt u de wikkelvoet achter het apparaat
en schuift u het lipje in de overeenkomende sleuf.

Speciale kenmerken

Diepteaanpassingswiel

Verplaatst het regelpaneel
naar de ideale positie voor
uw iPod. Draai het wiel naar
links of rechts om het
paneel naar voor of achter
te verplaatsen. Eenmaal
instellen, en dan vergeten.

Poortklep
Verwijderen om
toegang te krijgen
tot de voedingspoort
en de audiohulpingang
van de Journi.

De Journi opladen of inschakelen

Sluit de mannelijke dockconnectorkabel
(bijgeleverd) aan om op te laden.
De USB-stekker kan worden
aangesloten op de bijgeleverde
Griffin PowerBlock™ voor
wisselstroomgebruik of op elke
aangedreven USB-poort van uw computer.

Meter batterijlading

Druk eenmaal. De groene
LED's zullen oplichten om
de batterijlading te tonen.

Hulpingang audio
Gebruik een 3,5 mm (1/8")
stereo audiokabel om MP3-,
cd- en andere audiospelers
aan te sluiten. Deze poort
is uitgeschakeld wanneer
er een iPod in de
dockconnector is geplaatst.

Uw iPod plaatsen & verwijderen

Uw iPod moet stevig in de dockconnector
zitten waarbij de voorzijde is uitgelijnd op
de voorkant van de luidsprekerroosters
van de Journi.

De houder van de Journi is ontworpen
om uw iPod te ondersteunen terwijl u
nummers afspeelt. Dit vergrendelt uw
iPod echter niet op zijn plaats of
verhindert niet dat deze valt wanneer
u de Journi ondersteboven of opzij
draait terwijl de wikkelvoet geopend is.
Om uw iPod en Journi te beschermen,
moet u de wikkelvoet altijd sluiten
voordat u het apparaat verplaatst.

Om het regelkussen in te stellen, draait
u langzaam aan het diepte­aanpassing swiel op de achterkant
van de Journi. Nadat u de diepte voor
uw iPod hebt ingesteld, hoeft u deze
niet meer opnieuw aan te passen tot
u een ander iPod-model gebruikt.

Vastmaken

Losmaken

BELANGRIJK: om uw groot formaat iPod uit
de houder te verwijderen, mag u de iPod NIET
uit het gebied van de houder trekken. Als u dat
toch doet komt er meer spanning op de
dockconnector waardoor de aansluiting van
de Journi en uw iPod schade kunnen oplopen.

Druk in de plaats daarvan uw vingers of twee
duimen licht op de voorkant van de iPod en
schuif deze voorzichtig omhoog. De iPod
wordt losgekoppeld van de dockconnector
en schuift uit de houder.

Voor de iPod nano neemt u de iPod aan
beide zijden vast en duwt u deze voorzichtig
recht omhoog tot de iPod vrij schuift.

Batterij

De Journi is uitgerust met een
ingebouwde, lithium-ionbatterij
met een hoog vermogen die is
voorzien om tot 10 uur met een
volledige lading af te spelen.
Een circuit in de batterij
vermijdt overlading.

Met de Dual Fuel-technologie van
Griffin kunt u op twee manieren opladen:

Opladen via USB

Verwijder eerst uw iPod uit de dock. Sluit
vervolgens de USB-naar-dockconnector­kabel aan op de voedingspoort van de
Journi en een USB-poort met voeding
op uw computer. Zodra de Journi volledig
is opgeladen, stopt u de iPod terug in de
dock. Uw iPod kan vervolgens
synchroniseren met uw computer. De
USB-naar-dockconnector-kabel kan
ook worden gebruikt om de Journi aan
te sluiten op de automatische
voedingsadapters van de PowerJolt of
PowerDuo om de Journi op te laden terwijl
u onderweg bent.

Opladen via wisselstroom

Gebruik de bijgeleverde Griffin PowerBlock
wisselstroomadapter en USB-naar­dockconnectorkabel om de Journi op te
laden door de stekker in een stopcontact
van 100V - 240V te stoppen.

De Journi kan worden gebruikt tijdens
elke oplaadmethode.

WOW®-geluid

Afstandsbediening

De Journi werd ontwikkeld om massief
geluid te leveren in een compact,
gemakkelijk draagbaar pakket. Twee
krachtige aandrijfsystemen en twee
passieve radiators gebruiken de digitale
geluidsvormingstechnologie SRS WOW®
van SRS Labs om de ervaring van een
uitgebreide opnamestudio en diepe, rijke
lage tonen te produceren. Wanneer de
SRS WOW-programmering met uw iPod
wordt gebruikt, wordt het geluid gemaximaliseerd.

Wanneer u een andere digitale muziekspeler
dan de iPod aansluit via de audiohulpingang
van de Journi, wordt uw speler aangepast
naar ongeveer 75% van het topvolume voor
de beste geluidskwaliteit.

Schuif de multifunctionele
afstandsbediening uit de
uitsparing om de Journi op
afstand te bedienen.

De afstandsbediening van de Journi
klikt in de uitsparing op de achterkant
van het apparaat om deze op te bergen.

Eenmaal indrukken om naar het
volgende nummer te springen.
Ingedrukt houden om snel vooruit
te spoelen in een nummer.

Indrukken om het systeemvolume te verhogen.
Eenmaal indrukken om terug te keren

naar het begin van het huidige nummer
of tweemaal om naar het begin van het
vorige nummer te springen. Ingedrukt
houden om snel terug te spoelen
in een nummer.

Eenmaal indrukken om te pauzeren,
opnieuw indrukken om te hervatten.

Indrukken om het systeemvolume te verlagen.

Indrukken om de Journi in en uit te schakelen.

Problemen oplossen

Er komt geen geluid uit de Journi

Controleer de batterijlading van
de Journi (p. 9).

Controleer of de iPod is
ingeschakeld en volledig in de
dockconnector zit (p. 10).

Controleer of er een nummer
wordt afgespeeld op uw iPod.

Controleer het volumeniveau
van de Journi (p. 9).

Als u een andere speler gebruikt
dan een iPod, moet u ervoor zorgen
dat er GEEN iPod in de dock van de
Journi is geplaatst. Wanneer de
Journi een iPod detecteert, wordt
de audiohulpingang uitgeschakeld.

De afstandsbediening werkt niet.

Controleer of de batterij van de
afstandsbediening voldoende
vermogen heeft.

Controleer of uw iPod is ingeschakeld.

Voer een reset uit van de Journi door de
reset-schakelaar (het kleine gaatje onder
de voedingsschakelaar) voorzichtig in te
drukken met een rechtgeplooide paperclip.
Hiermee wordt een reset van de
Journi uitgevoerd.
