Stereo microphone for CD-quality recording on iPod
Thank you for purchasing iTalk Pro, the easiest way to record your thoughts (or anything else) onto your iPod. Here’s how to get started:
1. Attach iTalk Pro to your iPod via the dock connector. The ring around iTalk Pro’s big round button will light up and start flashing. On the iPod display, you will see the Voice Memo screen.
2. To start a recording, press the iTalk button. The ring around the button will flash, then stay lit while recording is in progress.
3. To end a recording, press the button again. The ring will flash while the file is being saved.
Select Stereo or Mono recording mode from the iPod’s voice memo menu. With iTalk Pro attached, go to [Main iPod Menu]->[Extras] >[Voice Memos]. Using the “Quality” option you can set iTalk Pro to record in Stereo [High] or Mono [Low].
To adjust the recording level, hold the iTalk Pro button for 3 seconds and release. You will see a menu on the iPod’s screen. Press and release the button until the option you want is selected. To confirm your selection, hold the button for 3 seconds and release. Your recording level will be set.
You can use external microphones with iTalk Pro. Just plug your mic into the 3.5mm jack on the bottom of iTalk Pro. Note that some microphones require their own, separate power source (sometimes referred to as “phantom power”). To use such a mic with iTalk Pro, simply plug it into iTalk Pro through an appropriate pre-amp.
To find your recordings on your iPod, go to the “Extras” menu, and look under “Voice Memos.” When you sync with iTunes, iTunes will ask you if you want to copy the new voice memos to your iTunes Library. If you answer Yes, your recordings will be removed from the iPod (freeing up space) and will be copied to your iTunes Library as WAV files.
