GreenGuard® Fanfold Underlayment Installation Guide
Verify that substrate is at, dry, and free of foreign material that will damage the GreenGuard® Fanfold
Underlayment. Beginning of installation means installer accepts the existing conditions.

Install GreenGuard® Fanfold Underlayments directly over old siding using galvanized or aluminum roong nails, with nails spaced about 2 feet apart. If the existing siding is damaged,
remove it and install GreenGuard® Fanfold Underlayment directly to the substrate.
Install the new siding material over GreenGuard® Fanfold Underlayment in accordance with the
siding manufacturer’s installation instructions.
Care should be taken when installing GreenGuard® Fanfold Underlayment under siding
materials. These products must be adequately fastened so that the entire board lays
completely at against the existing siding material or sheathing. Avoid overdriving fasteners,
since this will crush the insulation, resulting in a wavy appearance of the nished exterior
wall. Additional R-value (a system R-value) can be obtained when using GreenGuard Reective
Siding Underlayments (EPS and XPS) by either installing them with the reective surface next
to lapped siding having uniform air spaces at each lap or by installing 1/2 inch thick wood
furring strips spaced 2 feet apart and attaching the underlayment with the reective surface
next to the furring strips to create a reective air space.

Warning: Foam plastic insulation will ignite if exposed to re of sufcient heat and intensity. Protect foam insulation from
exposure to open ame or other ignition sources during shipment, storage, and installation.
Storage and Handling: When stored outdoors, all materials should be protected from exposure to direct sunlight using an
opaque light-colored tarp or the original packaging. Material that has been unwrapped should be carefully rewrapped.
