INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR - BHEAD
Thank you for purchasing a quality Outdoor Bulkhead from Greenbrook. Please read these
instructions fully prior to initial use.
Every effort has been made to ensure that the guidance information on this sheet will enable
the installation of the bulkhead to be carried out safely and correctly.
IF IN DOUBT, INSTALLATION SHOULD BE
MADE BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN
IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT
WIRING REGULATIONS.
Safety
1. Ensure disconnection from the mains electricity supply during installation, maintenance
and lamp replacement.
Description
2. The luminaire is Class 1 construction and must be earthed. The index of protection is
IP64.
Installation Procedure
3. Separate the diffuser from the body and remove lampholder or gear tray and proceed as
follows.
Knockout Removal
4. Place the body on firm surface, remove rear knockouts from inside of body using a
suitable punch, striking sharply on the knockout near the periphery but away from the
securing tags.
NOTE:
To maintain IP rating and weatherproof, fitting a suitable gasket (rubber) should be used
when mounting on a BESA conduit box - fitted by M4 screws through holes provided on rear
of fitting.
Mounting Using Side Entries
5. Remove required knockout M20. The body can then be fixed to normal surfaces using
No.8 wood screws, where we advise a sealing compound be used around the screw
heads to reduce the possibility of water ingress. A sealed termination should be made
using M20 conduit, pyro or cable gland, assembled with locknuts/rings. The fibre washer
provided is intended to be placed on outside of body.
Supply Cable Terminations
6. Connect earth cable (green/yellow) to terminal marked (1). Heat resisting sleeving is
provided (tungsten only) to sleeve incoming cables live (red or brown) Neutral (black or
blue).

Replace Lampholders/Gear Tray
7. Assemble and fit lamps as required. Fit standard GLS either BC dependant on lampholder
or PL9W in fluorescent units.
NOTE: Installing tungsten fittings horizontally (wall mounting) then a 60 watt lamp only
should be used.
