Product Introduction
These HDMI Cat-X Expanders provides complete solution whether splitting, switching, and extending is requi red with user-friendly installation and operation. Users can switch HDMI sources from up to four different devices such as DVD players, satellite receivers, digital recording devices, digital set­top boxes, advanced gaming consoles and many other high definition display sources (HDMI/DVI output required). They give full flexibility to suit most HDMI applications. It can be paired with the “HDMI-RJ45 receiver” (HDMI-HR) for short-range within 15m extension; or with the “Mini HDMI Cat-X Receiver” (ET-HC0101-R) for max distance extension of 30m at 1080p high quality multimedia experience.

Local Source Installation
• STEP 1: For first time installation, please turn off all devices.
• STEP 2: Connect local HDMI display to 4x8/4x16 HDMI Cat-X Expander using HDMI cable. This step is optional, however It is recommended for first time installation to verify functionality of device before long distance installation via Cat-X cable.
• STEP 3: Power on 4x8/4x16 HDMI Cat-X Expander by connecting power cord to power socket. Front panel “POWER” and “LOCAL LINK” LED lit to identify successful power and local display connection.
NOTE: To avoid undesired damage, please only use power cord supplied with the package. Please make sure power source is
properly grounded to prevent interference and broadcasting quality.
• STEP 4: Connect up to 4 HDMI sources to 4x8/4x16 HDMI Cat-X Expander “HDMI IN” port.
NOTE: In case dynamic dots or unclear image is present, please
refer to “Product Operation” to adjust built-in electronic equalizer.

Remote Display Installation
OVERVIEW: Each HDMI Cat-X Expander is equipped with one local HDMI output and 8 (or
16) remote RJ-45 output. HDMI Cat-X receivers are required for setting up the system at receiver to recover the signal over long distance. Wide range of HDMI Cat-X receivers/expanders can be selected to meet most scenarios and the installation method may be different. Combination of different receivers can be installed with the same system. To install with different products and choose the ideal solution for your application, please
refer to following sections.

A. Installation with Mini HDMI Receiver
Installation with Mini HDMI Cat-X Receiver is recommended for simple point to point HDMI long distance extension up to 30 meters at 1080p resolution
Requirement for each display­ 1 x Mini HDMI Receiver + power adaptor (5V) 1 x Cat-X cable (max. 30m@1080p) 1 x HDMI cable (or HDMI cable attached with HDMI display)
• STEP 1: Complete local source installation procedure, please refer to page 7.
• STEP 2: Connect 4x8/4x16 HDMI Cat-X Expander “RJ-45 HDMI OUT” to Mini • HDMI Cat-X Extender Receiver “Cat-X IN” using Cat-X cable.
• STEP 3: Connect Mini HDMI Cat-X Extender Receiver “HDMI OUT” to HDMI display using HDMI cable.
• STEP 4: Connect power adaptor to Mini HDMI Cat-X Extender Receiver
• STEP 5: Power on all devices
• STEP 6: Adjust equalizer control knob on Mini HDMI Cat-X Extender Receiver to fine tune picture quality.
NOTE: To set automatic adjustment mode, please turn equalizer control knob to left, “LINK IN” orange and green LED will lit constantly. If some dynamic dots or unclear image is present on monitors, equalizer knob can be adjusted manually by turn the knob slowly to the right, and “LINK IN” orange LED will turn off.
NOTE: For optimum result, please use Cat-5e or Cat-6 FTP cable with minimal delay skew property.

B. Installation with HDMI-RJ45 Receiver
Installation with Receiver is recommended for simple point to point HDMI short distance extension up to 15 meters at 1080p resolution
Requirement for each display­ 1 x HDMI-RJ45 (HDMI-HR) 1 x Cat-X cable (max. 15m@1080p)
• STEP 1: Complete local source installation procedure, please refer to page 7.
• STEP 2: Connect 4x8/4x16 HDMI Cat-X Expander “RJ-45 HDMI OUT” to HDMI­ RJ45 using Cat-X cable.
• STEP 3: Connect HDMI-RJ45 to HDMI display “HDMI INPUT” directly.
• STEP 4: Power on all devices
NOTE: For optimum result, please use Cat-5e or Cat-6 FTP cable with minimal delay skew property.

C. Cascading with 4/8-Port HDMI Cat-X Expander
Installation with 4/8-Port HDMI Cat-X Expander is ideal for advanced HDMI expanding applications. Recommended extension between two devices is 25 meters for 1080p resolution. 4/8-Port HDMI Cat-X Expanders can then connect up to 8 additional HDMI displays (HDMI Cat-X receiver required for each display). For additional information regarding to this model, please refer to 4/8-Port HDMI Cat-X Expander User Manual.
Requirement for cascading the system­ 1 x 4x8/4x16 HDMI Cat-X Expander (EP-HC0408/EP-HC0416) and power cord. 1 x 4/8-Port HDMI Cat-X Expander (HDMI-E104C or HDMI-E108C) and power adaptor. 1 x HDMI-RJ45 Receiver (HDMI-HR) 1 x Cat-X cable (max. 25m@1080p)
• STEP 1: Complete local source installation, please refer to page 7.
• STEP 2: Connect 4x8/4x16 HDMI Cat-X Expander “LINK OUT” to HDMI-RJ45 Receiver using Cat-X cable.
• STEP 3: Connect HDMI-RJ45 Receiver to 4/8-Port HDMI Cat-X Expander “HDMI IN”.
• STEP 4: Connect local and remote displays via Cat-X cable and HDMI Cat-X Receivers according to 4/8-Port HDMI Cat-X Expander User Manual.
• STEP 5: Power on all devices.

D. Cascading with 4x8/4x16 HDMI Cat-X Expander
Cascading two devices is ideal for advanced HDMI expanding applications especially when more than 4 different sources is required. Recommen ded extension between two Expanders is 25 meters for 1080p resolution. Connection to receiving HDMI displays please refer to section A and B.
Requirement for cascading the system­ 2 x 4x8/4x16 HDMI Cat-X Expander (EP-HC0408/EP-HC0416) and power cord. 1 x HDMI-RJ45 Receiver (HDMI-HR) 1 x Cat-X cable (max. 25m@1080p)
• STEP 1: Complete local source installation, please refer to page 7.
• STEP 2: Connect Expander “LINK OUT” to HDMI-RJ45 Receiver using Cat-X cable.
• STEP 3: Connect HDMI-RJ45 Receiver to secondary Expander “HDMI IN”.
• STEP 4: Connect local and remote displays according to section A and B
• STEP 5: Power on all devices.

Product Operation
SWITCHING­When an input source is selected, ALL output channels are switched simultaneously. Attaching displays cannot choose different source.
Automatic Switch: device automatically switches to the last active source added to the HDMI Expander. When displaying source is unplugged, device automatically switches to next available channel.
Manual Switch: simply press the manual switch button on front panel to choose channel.
Remote Control: press number button on remote control to select corresponding channel.
Auto Scan Function: activate via remote control “SCAN” button. Can be set at 20, 40, 60, 80 seconds interval. Press “STOP” or manual switch button to stop scanning.

DISPLAY TUNING­In case dynamic dots or unclear image is present, the built-in electronics equalizer can be adjusted to fine tune picture quality. Please press and hold any “SWITCH BUTTON” on front panel over 2 seconds to select to the next level adjustment. Total of 8 levels can be tuned. When electronic equalizer is modified, “ON LINE” yellow LED blinks. Press and hold “SWITCH BUTTON” will automatically stores the setting.
RESET DEVICE­Device settings can be restored to original factory setting by the following steps:
1. Power on device
2. Press and hold manual button “1”
3. Unplug power supply
4. Power on device
5. Release manual button “1”

Equalizer is a built in electronic device used to fine tune picture
How does equalizer (EQ) work?
quality. Please turn knob anticlockwise for automatic mode. If you find monitor is not displaying properly, please turn EQ knob clockwise slowly until picture is displaying correctly. If problem persist please check your cable.
What is the minimum requirement of Cat-X cable
What kind of Cat-X cable is recommended?
I want extension above specification, is that possible?
I am using HDMI-HR to receive HDMI signal, but there no image on monitor.
There is no image on monitor, what could be the problem?
Minimum cable requirement is Category 5 enhanced cable for HDMI Expander Family product. Please ensure all cables are terminated with RJ-45 plug according to EIA/TIA568B definition.
We recommend using Category 5e or 6 FTP cable for best display quality at maximum extension. For better result please use cable with minimum delay skew property.
Yes. To extend HDMI signal above specification published please use high quality HDMI cable (24 gauge) and recommended Cat-X cable. If further extension is required, please set HDMI source at 480p resolution.
HDMI-HR is only intended for short distance extension. The maximum extension is at 15m for 1080p resolution. If your application has exceeded this distance please use Mini HDMI Cat-X Extender Receiver.
Before installation, it is recommended to connect source to display directly to verify connecting device functionality. Secondly check all cable is properly installed.

It is still not working.
The battery is full, why the remote control is not working?
There are some bright dots in the picture, how to make adjustments to improve picture quality?
A 20m HDMI cable is used for connecting display TV, however no picture is shown. What could be the problem?
If problem persist please try the following steps to read monitor data into HDMI Cat-X Expander:
1. connect display monitor to HDMI IN port with HDMI cable
2. power on all devices
3. at front panel, you will see orange LED lids constantly and green LED lids for one second.
Please operate device without any obstruction between device and remote control.
4x8/4x16 HDMI Cat-X Expander has built-in equalizer to fine tune picture quality. This can be done by press and hold any manual switch button for 2 seconds until yellow LED blinks. Please repeat this procedure until problem solved.
For long distance connection, a higher quality cable is recommended. For optimum result, please use 24 gauge HDMI cable.
