These instructions explain how to install the bat­tery operated Acre Counter. The Acre Counter is used to calculate and display the field acres and total acres accumulated on the implement it is mounted on and calibrated for.
These instructions apply to:

Assembly Instructions
Refer to Figure 1
1. Select a ground drivenshaft with easy ac­cess. Install the two halves of the magnet ac­tuator around the shaftand slide theactuator together.Positionthe magnet actuator next to the bearing mount.
Note: Take care when sliding the actuator togeth­er so not to break one of the tabs.
2. Remove the two nuts and lock washersfrom the carriage bolts which hold the bearing to the mount.
3. Place the bracketwhich holds the pickup sen­sor over the bolts and replace the nuts and lock washers. Tighten nuts.
4. Attach the pickupsensor to the sensor brack­et. Secure the ground wire to one of the mounting screws. Slide the sensor so it is no more than 1/8" from the magnet actuator. Do not allow the sensor to touch the magnet ac­tuator. Tighten screwsto hold in place.

5. Mount the acre counter console to the drill frame. Select a location close to the pickup sensor which allows easy access for reading or adjustments. Pick a location which allows the console to be mounted in a vertical posi­tion.
6. Hold the console in place and mark where to drill the holes forthe mounting screws.
7. Drill 11/64" holes where marked and secure the acre counter console in place with two 3/4" x 10-16 self taping screws.
8. Connect the cable from sensor pickupto the acre counter console. Windup and tie out of the way any extra cable.

Operating Instructions
The battery operated acre counter operates in one of two modes.In sleep mode, the display is blank, and the counter is accumulatingacres. Sleep mode will be entered if a button is not pressed for 20 seconds. In entry mode, the dis­play is on, and the operator can enter values. To getinto entrymode,pressthe FUNC button.If you continue to press the FUNC button,the acre counter will cycle throughthe functions that itcan perform.The icons abovethe digitsindicatewhich function is selected. The available functions are:
• Field Acres
• Total Acres
• Pulses per Mile
• Width
• Password

Field Acres

Press the FUNC button until the "FIELD" icon ap­pears in the display.The digits indicate the acres coveredsince the fieldacre counter wascleared.
To clear the fieldacre count, depress the UP and DOWN buttons for2 seconds.
Field acres will count in tenths of an acre up to
9999.9 acres.
Total Acres
Refer to Figure 4
Press the FUNCbuttonuntil the "TOTAL" icon ap­pears in the display.The digits indicate the acres covered since the total acre counter was cleared.
To clear the total acre count, press and hold the UP and DOWN buttons for 2 seconds.If a pass­word has been entered you will not be able to clear the total acre count.
Total acres will count from 1 to 99999 acres.

Pulses per Mile
Press the FUNC buttonuntil the "PULSES" icon appears in the display. The number in the display indicates how many timesthe shaft rotatesfor ev­ery mile driven.
There are 2 methods to enter the pulses per mile:

a. Ifyouknowthenumber,selectit using the
UP and DOWN buttons. When youpress the FUNC button, the Landtracker will ac­ceptthenumberinthedisplayasthenew pulses per mile.

b. If you do not know the pulses per mile,
press and hold the UP and DOWN but­tons until "0000" appears in the display. The "COUNT" icon will appear.The acre counter is now counting shaft rotations. Enter the cab and drive one mile. Press the FUNC button to wake up the acre counter. The "PULSES" and "COUNT" icons will re-appear. The number dis­played is the pulses per mile. Press the FUNC button to accept the setting. The "COUNT"iconwilldisappear.Ifyoucould not drivea mile,you can calculate the pulses per mile using a formula.

Note: If a password is set, you will not be able to adjust the pulses per mile.
Width
Refer to Figure 7
PresstheFUNCbuttonuntilthe"WIDTH"icon ap­pears in the display. The number displayed is the width of your implement in feet.
To adjustthe width, pressthe UP andDOWN but­tons.If a password has been entered,youwill not be able to adjust the width.
The width can be adjusted from 0 to 99.9 feet, in tenths of a foot.

Password
The password function allows you to protect the total acre count, pulses per mile and width set­tings with a password. This stops anyonefrom accidentally changing those settings.When the acrecounteris shipped, the passwordis disabled. Youcanmodify thepulsesper mileandimplement width at any time.
Press the FUNC buttonuntil the "PASS" icon ap­pears. The digits will display the word "Ent" or "dIS"
If the display shows "dIS"

The password is disabled. The total acre count, pulses per mile,width and password settings can be adjusted using the up and down buttons. The password can also be changed using the up and down buttons.

You must enter your password using the UP and DOWN buttons. When yourpassword is displayed, press the FUNC button to test the password. If the password is correct, you will be able to change the acre counter settings. The password will be viewable until the acre counterpowersdown. Whentheacrecounter is powered up again, you willhave to re-enter the password to change settings.
If the password is not correct, you will not be able to change the acre counter settings. When the "PASS" function is selected again, "Ent" will appear in the display.
Changing the password

Select a new password using the UP and DOWN buttons. Press the FUNC button until the word "SEt" appears in the display. Re­lease the FUNC button.The numberin the displayis your newpasscode.Make sure you write it down!To disable the password,try set­ting it to 0000. Press and hold the FUNC but­tonuntiltheword"dIS"appearsin the display.
If the passwordis forgotten, it can be disabled by removingthebatteries. The passwordis intended for rental units. It is recommended that a seal be affixed to the rear plate of the acre counter to de­termine if the settings have been tampered with.

Battery Replacement
The battery operatedacre counter uses 3AA bat­teries.Thebatteriesshould last between5and10 years.The acre counter will last much longer than that.Eventuallyyou will havetoreplace the batter­ies. The acre counter will display "LObA" when the batteries require replacement. Remove the acre counter from the implement and undo the 4 screwson the back of the case. This willseparate the housing from the rear plate. Replace the bat­teries with 3 high quality AA alkaline batteries.
Note: This unit is dust andsplash resistant,under nocircumstanceshouldthisunitbesubmergedin any conductive, corrosiveor flammable liquid.
