This manual ensures safe and efficient use of the “thermio™ eco ECOsave” multi-tariff timer with boost
function (referred to as “device” in the following). This manual is a component of the device and must
remain accessible at all times for everyone who uses the device.
Everyone who uses the device must have read and understood this manual before commencing any
work. The basic prerequisite for working safely is compliance with all safety instructions and usage
instructions specified in this manual. Furthermore, the local accident prevention regulations and the
general safety regulations in the area in which the device is operated apply.
Illustrations in this manual are intended to provide a general understanding and may differ from the
actual design.

The “thermio™ eco ECOsave” multi-tariff timer switches the connected loads on or off in defined steps;
the smallest possible switching time is 15 minutes. This makes it possible to individually adjust heating
periods to times with lower cost electricity tariffs, for example; the standard local electricity tariffs are
set by default. The BOOST rotary switch and button can be used to switch on the device for a defined
period, independently of the set switching program. Four BOOST periods can be set: 15 min, 30 min,
60 min or 120 min.

Intended use
The “thermio™ eco ECOsave” multi-tariff timer is used exclusively for switching immersion heaters
(individual, twin or dual immersion heaters) with a resistance load of up to 3 kW. The connected devices
must comply with the limits specified in the technical data.
The intended use also includes compliance with all information specified in this manual.
Any use other than the intended use is considered incorrect use. The legal warranty is voided by any
interference with, or modifications to, the device.

Damage to the timer due to incorrect installation position!
If an unsuitable installation position is selected, the timer may be damaged.

− Only use the timer in dry rooms and do not install close to devices with
inductive discharge (motors, transformers etc.).

The user is the person who uses and operates the device in compliance with proper use, without any

Installation
Electric connection and installation
The device can be mounted on the wall or in a flush-mounted socket.
If mounted on the wall, the connection wires either come directly out of the wall or they are routed to
the device on top of the wall.
In general, the following instructions apply to both installation types. Where
there are difference, the corresponding installation type is specified before
the instructions.

1. Undo the safety screw (Fig. 2/5) on the housing base using a flat-head screwdriver.
2. Remove the housing base.

4. Drill holes at the points you marked.
5. Insert suitable wall-plugs for the screws into the holes.

thread through the connection wires.

The strain relief clamps (Fig. 2/2) have to be broken out for on-wall
mounting, otherwise the device does not fit smoothly against the wall.
10. On-wall connection wires: Fasten the connection wires with the broken out strain relief clamps to
the screw plug for the strain relief clamps (Fig. 2/6).

Installation
11. Fasten the housing base to the wall-plugs with the screws or into the flush-mounted socket.
Connecting

13. Insert the earth connection wire into the earth contact (Fig. 2/4).
To ensure wiring is correct, consult the operating manual for the heating
system in use.

Make sure that the maximum load between the terminals is 3 kW. After
completing the wiring, measure the resistance as follows:
− 3 and 4 > 17 W
− 3 and 5 > 17 W
Insert the connection wire for the device into the corresponding terminals (Fig. 6/7) in accordance
with the wiring diagram (Fig. 6).

Tightening torques
To avoid damage and faulty contacts, tighten the terminals using a

Failure to close the housing can result in a short circuit between contacts or

− Make sure that the red stripe (Fig. 7/2) on the edge of the housing is no
longer visible.

visible.
17. Tighten the safety screw (Fig. 7/1) on the housing base using a flat-head screwdriver.
The device is now fully installed.

Turn the dial (Fig. 8/2) clockwise until the indicator marker (Fig. 8/1) matches the current time.
In 12 hour display: 8 = 8.00 a.m. and 14 = 2.00 p.m.
The timer does not distinguish between summer and winter time. As a
result, you have to set the summer and winter time manually by
adjusting the current time Ä Chapter "Setting the time" on page 24.

Setting the on/off time
In the factory setting, the times from 3:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. are set to make use of off-peak electricity.
You can adjust or supplement this setting.

Each tappet represents 15 minutes of switching time.
If the tappets are pushed inwards, the connected load is switched off
during that time; if the tappets are pushed outwards, the connected load
is switched on during that time.
Push the tappets inwards (Fig. 9/1) or outwards (Fig. 9/2), according to your desired switching
times.
The set switching times are only executed if the device is switched on (on/off switch set to

ON).
Setting a BOOST period

1. Turn the rotary switch (Fig. 1/3) to the desired BOOST period (15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes).
2. Press the rotary switch to activate the BOOST period.
BOOST LED lights up until the BOOST period is over.

BOOST LED goes out.

2. Insert the flat-head screwdriver (Fig. 10/2) into the opening on the underside of the housing, as far
as it will go.
3. Pry off the housing (Fig. 10).
4. Remove the housing base.
