ACCESSORIES
Do not place this video unit on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table. The video
unit may fall, causing serious injury to a
child or adult, and serious damage to
the unit. Use only with a cart, stand,
tripod, bracket or table recom-
mended by the manufacturer or
sold with the video unit. Any mount-
ing of the unit should follow the manufacturer’s instructions and
should use a mounting accessory
recommended by the manufacturer.
An appliance and cart combination should be moved with care. Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the appliance and cart combination to overturn.
PORTABLE CART WARNING (Symbol provided by RETAC)
VENTILATION
Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation to ensure reliable operation of the video unit and to protect it from overheating. These openings must not be blocked or covered. Never place your DVD+VCR on a bed, sofa, rug or other similar surface, on or near a radiator or heat register. This video unit should not be placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or rack unless proper ventilation is provided or the manufacturer’ s instructions have been adhered to.
POWER SOURCES
This video unit should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home consult your appliance dealer or local power company . For video units intended to be operated from battery power, or other sources, refer to the operating instructions.
GROUNDING OR POLARIZATION
This video unit may be equipped with either a polarized 2-wire AC line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other) or a 3wire grounding plug having a third (grounding) pin.
The 2-wire polarized plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet try reversing the plug. If the plug still fails to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.
POWER-CORD PROTECTION
Power-supply cords should be r outed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords of plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the unit.
OUTDOOR ANTENNA GROUNDING
If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the video unit, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded to provide some protection against voltage surges and builtup static charges. Section 810 of the National
Safety
iii
Page 6
Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1984, provides information with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode. See figure below.
LIGHTNING
For added protection of this video unit during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the video unit due to lightning and power line surges.
POWER LINES
An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.
spillage occur, unplug unit and have it checked by a technician before use.

a When the power supply cord or plug is
damaged.
b If any liquid has been spilled onto or ob-
jects have fallen into the video unit.
c If the video unit has been exposed to rain
or water.
d If the video unit does not operate normally
by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions. Improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the video unit to its normal operation.
e If the video unit has been dropped or the
cabinet has been damaged.
f When the video unit exhibits a distinct
change in performance—this indicates a need for service.
REPLACEMENT PARTS

This Chapter provides customer support information, as well as a list of frequently
asked questions, technical specifications, and the product warranty.
The chart below will help you solve common challenges with your DVD+VCR. If you don’t find the answers you need here, you can contact our Customer Service Department as follows:
Phone: 1-800-SENSORY Office hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. MST E-Mail: “dvdhelp@sensoryscience.com” Web: “www.govideo.com” or

SYMPTOM SOLUTION(S)
Cannot access Setup menu. • Stop the DVD player. You cannot access the
Setup menu while a disc is playing.
No sound from speakers. • Connect the DVD+VCR to a Dolby Digital-ready
amplifier. You cannot connect speakers directly to the analog audio outputs because the unit does not have a built-in amplifier.
TV only shows Go-Video screen. • Connect the Composite and S-Video outputs to
separate inputs on your television. If your television has one set of inputs for both S-Video and Composite, then the S-Video will override the Composite input.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Cannot play other regional DVDs. • The DVD-VCR will play Region 1 encoded discs
only. Cannot record on DVD deck. • The DVD deck does not allow recording. Can I connect to surround sound system? • Yes, you can connect the DVD+VCR to an
audio/video receiver or amplifier using the
coaxial or optical digital outputs or analog
outputs. What types of discs can I play? • DVD Video, CD Digital Audio and CD Video. Picture has black bars. • Make sure your TV Aspect Ratio is set properly
to 4:3 or 16:9; see page 45.
• Aspect ratios vary from disc to disc. The specific DVD may not offer a 4:3 full-screen version.
Auto Setup did not find all channels. • If a cable box/satellite receiver is connected,
the DVD+VCR will only find the cable box output channel. Use the alternative cable box hookup on page 36.
No audio when playing VHS tapes. • You may be watching video from the S-Video or
Component video output. Use the RF or Line connection to play VHS tapes; see page 2.
No picture. • Press TV/VCR until the VCR indicator lights on
the front panel display.
• Set Channel Switch to channel 4.

Poor picture quality on VCR. • Set Channel Switch to channel 4.
• Adjust tracking with AUTO and TRK –/+ keys.
• Clean video heads with nonabrasive head cleaning tape.
Remote not working. • Remove all obstacles and point directly at
DVD+VCR.
• Make sure batteries are fresh and properly installed.
• Press DVD or VCR key. Note: If you press DVD key by accident, remote will only operate the DVD player. The same is true of the VCR key.
On-screen display shows “Error.” • Turn power off, then turn power on again.
• Inspect tape/disc slots for foreign objects.
VCR doesn’t work. • Unplug DVD+VCR for 10 seconds, then plug it
in again.
• If still doesn’t work, unplug DVD+VCR overnight (at least 6 hours), then plug it in again. Note: If the clock is still set, you haven’t unplugged it long enough.
• If still doesn’t work, DVD+VCR must be serviced by an authorized service center.
Cannot record from cable box. • Set DVD+VCR to cable box output channel 2, 3
or 4, then select desired channel on cable box.
Cannot Timer Record. • Set clock to correct time. Tape ejects during copy or record. • Place piece of tape over record safety tab
opening.
VCR automatically plays and rewinds. • To turn Auto Play/Rewind off; see page 43. Tape counters not moving on VCR deck. • To display tape counters, the VCR deck requires
control track, which is only present on prerecorded tapes.
No menu or On-Screen Displays. • Tape may be blank (“snow” appears on screen).
If so, menus and On-Screen Display cannot be shown. Stop tape or record on tape to enable
