For more than 30 years Goodmans have been pre-eminent in the world of High Fidelity in the Loudspeaker field, and were the first manufacturers to make a true High Fidelity Loudspeaker System so small—AND so good— that it hit every High Fidelity headline. This was the MAXIM and this tiny enclosure, small in size, but big in sound, has the distinction of being the most copied Loudspeaker System in the world.

In 1966 Goodmans introduced the FIRST British all-silicon transistor stereophonic Amplifier—the MAXAMP 30, which has been acclaimed by Hi-Fi enthusiasts, both in this country and overseas. MAXAMP 30, although a complete stereophonic amplifier with integrated pre-amplifier, measures only 101/2 x 51/2 x 71/4 —the same as the MAXIM.

NOW —in 1967—another major step has been achieved by the introduction of the Goodmans High Fidelity AM/FM Stereophonic Tuner—the STEREOMAX—designed to complement the MAXAMP 30, both in performance and styling. MAXAMP 30 and STEREOMAX matched in size and acoustic excellence, are fitting partners in to-day's compact and sophisticated High Fidelity Sound Systems. Both units are available in Teak or Walnut-finish polished wood housings—instantly ready for unobtrusive and easy book-case installation. If flush panel, or cabinet mounting is preferred, the wooden casings are easily removable.

STEREOMAX is a Stereophonic transistorised High Fidelity TUNER, using silicon transistors throughout. It receives both AM and FM programmes with incomparable reliability, stability and accuracy.

STYLING .... In the same elegant fashion as the MAXAMP and housed in polished wood cabinet—Teak or Walnut-finish to order—easily removable for flush panel mounting, if preferred. Control panel in "Danish Silver". Technically superb, yet simple to operate.

  • A Local/distance pushbutton. This is to avoid overloading when in close proximity to local or powerful station.
  • B Separate tuning of AM and FM enables switching to the other waveband without disturbing the selected station.
  • C Tuning meter for AM and FM for precision tuning of selected signal.
  • D A.F.C. (pushbutton). Automatic frequency control holds station firmly in tune—eliminating distortion due to mis-tuning, particularly on a stereophonic transmission.
  • E Muting of interstation noise (pushbutton). This removes annoying interstation noise when tuning.
  • G Stereophonic Decoder (optional). Only some FM broadcasts are in stereo. The decoder separates the Left and Right signals of a stereophonic transmission. A small lamp lights up when a stereophonic programme is received.

H Aerial. In 'difficult' reception areas an external aerial of the loft or roof type may be used.

K Regulated power supply (built-in). This aids the rock-like stability of the Stereomax.
