IV. Operating
Basic operations of the gMFC® are fairly straightforward. By default, the footcontroller is set to bank 0. The bottom row of buttons (1 – 5) are the patch jump buttons. They can be programmed to jump to any patch from 1 to 99. The top row of buttons (6 – 0) are the effects on/off buttons. They are factory set in the following manner:
Button Number Control
The buttons on the right (A & B) are multifunction command buttons. In standard mode, the A button sends a patch down command, and the B button sends a patch up command. When you hold either button, the gMFC® enters into two different modes. Holding the A button enters into Patch-Jump mode. Holding the B button enters into Bank Select/Utility mode.
Patch-Jump mode:
Patch-Jump mode is activated by holding the A button down for approximately 1
second. The display will go blank. This indicates that the gMFC® is ready to receive a program. To enter a patch to jump to, simply press the numbered buttons to enter the desired patch number. For example to jump to patch 64, do the following:
1. Hold the A button until the display blanks.
2. Press the 6 button on the gMFC®. The display shows 6 indicating which button was pressed.
3. Press the 4 button on the gMFC®.
4. The display will now show “64” and a patch change command has been send to the midi device.

Solo toggle for the Digitech 2120 Artist VGS
**note: Due to program flow, if you press the A or B key as the first key after the display blanks, a value of 10x or 11x is entered into the device. Where x would be the next button pressed. This allows you to enter values up to 119 into the device. The Digitect ® device this was designed for can only accept user programs up to 100, so I did not fully implement patch jumps past 99. eg. Hold A, press A again, then press 5. The gMFC® send a patch change of 105 to the MIDI device.
Bank Select mode:
Bank Select mode is used to set which bank the gMFC® will select patch jump
information from. Bank Select mode is activated by holding the B button down for approximately 1 second. When activated, the display will show the current bank that is selected. The default at power-on is zero. Press any of the number buttons to switch to the bank that corresponds to that button. For example, to switch to patch bank 8, the steps are:
1. Press and hold B for 1 second. The display will show the current bank.
2. Press 8.
3. The gMFC® has switched to bank 8 and will display the current patch in use.
Utility mode:
Patch-Jump programming:
Once Bank Select mode is activated, the B button can be pressed again to
program which patch the patch-jump buttons will select. To program one of the patch- jump butotns (1 – 5) the execute the following procedure.
1. Select the patch which you wish to set the button to jump to using any method you choose.
2. Press and hold the B button to enter Bank Select mode. The current bank is displayed.
3. Press the B button again. You are now ready to set the button that will jump to the patch you have currently selected.
4. Choose any of the Patch-Jump buttons (1 – 5). Press that button.
5. The gMFC® goes back to normal mode, and will now jump to the patch you just programmed when that button is pressed again.
Tuner mode toggle:

following:
1. Press and hold the B button for one second.
2. Press the B button two more times.
