GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING. Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions

may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mainsoperated (corded) power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool.

1. WORK AREA SAFETY a. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark

areas invite accidents.

b. Do not operate power tools in explosive

atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which

may ignite the dust or fumes.

c. Keep children and bystanders away while operating

a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2. ELECTRICAL SAFETY a. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify

the plug in any way. Do not use any adaptor plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs

and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.

b. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded

surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric

shock if your body is earthed or grounded.

c. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions.

Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

d. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for

carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the

risk of electric shock.

e. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an

extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord

suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.

f. If operating a power tool in a damp location is

unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of

electric shock.

3. PERSONAL SAFETY a. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use

common sense when operating a power tool.

Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under

the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment

of inattention while operating power tools may result in

serious personal injury.

b. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection.

Safety equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for

appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.

c. Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the

off position before plugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.

d. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before

turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left

attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result

in personal injury.

e. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance

at all times. This enables better control of the power tool

in unexpected situations.

f. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or

jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from

moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be

caught in moving parts.

g. If devices are provided for the connection of dust

extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices

can reduce dust related hazards.

4. POWER TOOL USE AND CARE a. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool

for your application. The correct power tool will do the job

better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.

b. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn

it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled

with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

c. Disconnect the plug from the power source before

making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures

reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

d. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and

do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power

tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

e. Always unplug your power tool when leaving

unattended. Such preventative safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally by untrained users.

f. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or

binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tools operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired

before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

g. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly

maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

h. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.,

in accordance with these instructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for

operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.

5. SERVICE a. Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair

person using only identical replacement parts.

This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Additional safety rules for reciprocating saws

• Always remove the plug from the mains socket before

making any adjustments or maintenance, including

changing the blade.

• When operating the saw, use safety equipment including

safety goggles or shield, ear protection, dust mask and protective clothing including safety gloves.

• Ensure that the lighting is adequate.

• Keep the area free of tripping hazards.

• Do not let anyone under the age of 18 years operate this

saw.

• Always stand to one side when operating the saw.

• Never use a cracked or distorted saw blade. Only use

sharp blades.

• When cutting round wood, use clamps that prevent the

work piece from turning on both sides of the blade.

• Never use your hands to remove sawdust, chips or waste

close by the blade.

• Use only blades as recommended.

• Rags, cloths, cord and string and the like should never be

left around the work area.

• Avoid cutting nails. Inspect the work piece and remove all nails and other foreign objects before beginning sawing.

• Support the work properly.

• Never reach over the blade to remove waste or off cuts.

• Do not attempt to free a jammed blade before first

switching off the machine.

• Do not slow or stop a blade with a piece of wood. Let the

blade come to rest naturally.

• If you are interrupted when operating the saw, complete

the process and switch off before looking up.

• Periodically check that all nuts, bolts and other fixings are

properly tightened.

• Always hold the saw on parts that are insulated. If you

accidentally cut into hidden wiring or the saw’s own cable, the metal parts of the saw will become “live”.

• Never saw near combustible liquids or gases.

The tool must be used only for its prescribed purpose.

Any use other than those mentioned in this Manual will

be considered a case of misuse. The user and not the

manufacturer shall be liable for any damage or injury

resulting from such cases of misuse. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any changes made

to the tool nor for any damage resulting from such changes. Even when the tool is used as prescribed it is not possible

to eliminate all residual risk factors. The following hazards may arise in connection with the tool’s construction and design:

• Contact with the blade.

• Kickback of work piece and parts of work piece.

• Blade fracture.

• Catapulting of blade pieces.

• Damage to hearing if effective earmuffs are not worn.

• Harmful emissions of sawdust when the machine is used in closed rooms. Always use supplementary dust

extraction where possible.

• Do not use blades that are deformed or cracked.

• Fully unwind cable drum extensions to avoid potential

overheating.

• When an extension cable is required, you must ensure

that it has the right ampere rating for your power tool and is in safe electrical condition.

• After long working periods external metal parts and

accessories could be hot.

• Do not force the saw; let the tool do the work at a

reasonable speed. Overloading will occur if too much pressure is applied and the motor slows resulting in inefficient cutting and possible damage to the motor.

• Always remove the plug from the mains socket before making any adjustments or maintenance, including

changing the blade.

WARNINGS. Before connecting a tool to a power source

(mains switch power point receptacle, outlet, etc.) be sure that the voltage supply is the same as that specified on the

nameplate of the tool. A power source with a voltage greater

than that specified for the tool can result in serious injury to

the user, as well as damage to the tool. If in doubt, do not plug in the tool. Using a power source

with a voltage less than the nameplate rating is harmful to the motor.

The GMC RC1200 Reciprocating Saw is supplied in a storage case with the following accessories:

Unpacking

Due to modern mass production techniques, it is unlikely that your GMC Power Tool is faulty or that a part is missing. If you find anything wrong, do not operate the tool until the parts have been replaced or the fault has been rectified. Failure to do so could result in serious

personal injury.

Know your product

Before using the Reciprocating Saw, familiarise yourself with all the operating features and safety requirements.

Use the tool only for the applications intended. All other

applications are expressly ruled out.

Setting up

Installing a saw blade CAUTION. Always ensure that the saw is switched off

and unplugged from the mains supply before installing or removing a blade. Wear work gloves when replacing a blade.

1. Loosen the blade clamp (4) by depressing the clamp

lever (12). This will allow the saw blade to be inserted.

2. Whilst holding the blade clamp open, line up and insert the new saw blade.

3. Let go of the blade clamp lever (12) to lock the saw blade in position.

4. Pull on the blade to ensure it is securely fastened.

WARNING. Make sure that the blade is securely fastened before starting the saw.

Failure to do so may result in

serious injury.

Switching on and off

1. Connect the plug to the mains supply.

2. To start the saw, press the lock-off button (3) and squeeze the trigger switch (1).

3. There is no need to keep the lock-off button (3) depressed once the saw has started. However, if the trigger switch (1) is released, the lock-off button will re-engage as a safety precaution to prevent accidental operation.

4. In order to restart the saw, the both the lock-off button (3) and the trigger switch (1) must be pressed again.

Varying the speed

Vary the speed to suit the blade and the material being cut with the use of the speed control

knob (9).

Using the pendulum control

1. With the pendulum control (2) set at , the blade moves backwards and forwards only. This is called “straight cutting”. Use straight cutting when sawing hard materials such as metal.

2. With the pendulum control (2) set at position , the blade swings up and down as well as moving backwards and forwards. This “pendulum action cutting” is very efficient when cutting softer materials.

Note. Pendulum action cutting can leave a rough finish. Use a file or rasp to clean up the cut edge if necessary.

WARNING. Use the straight cutting mode when you wish to make curved or clean cuts, even when working with soft materials.

Changing the position of the shoe CAUTION. Always ensure that the saw is switched off

and unplugged from the power supply.

1. Loosen the two shoe adjustment screws (10) with hex

key (11) and position the shoe to shield the length of saw blade as required.

2. Re-tighten the shoe adjustment screws. Take care not to overtighten the screws or you will strip the thread.

3. Position the angle of the shoe as required by pivoting it on its axis.

4. Where possible, rest the shoe on the material being cut. Change the angle of the shoe to suit the shape of the material.

CAUTION. Do not operate the reciprocating saw if the

adjustable shoe is damaged or not installed.

Rotating the rear handle CAUTION. Always ensure that the saw is switched off and

unplugged from the power supply.

1. The rear handle (7) can be rotated in a circle to eight set

positions of operation, spaced 45° apart.

2. The rear handle must be “locked” into one of the eight preset positions. It must not be used at any position in between these eight preset positions as it might rotate during use and create a hazard.

3. To rotate the handle (7) press

on the handle rotation release

switch (8) and move the

handle to one of the present positions. It can be turned three positions to the left and four positions to the right.

General cutting

1. Hold the saw firmly in front and clearly away from you.

2. Make sure that the blade is clear of any obstruction and that the power cord or any extension cord is out of the path of the blade.

3. Ensure that the material to be cut is held firmly. Small workpieces should be held in a vice or clamped to the workbench.

4. Mark out the cutting line.

5. Squeeze the trigger.

6. Select the speed with control (9).

7. Place the shoe on the

workpiece and begin sawing.

Note. Use only enough pressure to keep the saw cutting. Do not

force the cutting; allow the blade

and the saw to do the work. WARNING. Use of excessive

pressure that causes bending or twisting of the blade may cause the blade to break.

Plunge cutting

1. Mark the line of the cut.

2. Choose a point inside the area to be cut out and place the tip of the blade over that point.

3. Rest the front edge of the shoe on the workpiece and hold the saw firmly in position.

4. Press the lock-off button and squeeze the trigger to start the cutting action.

WARNING. Make sure that the blade does not touch the workpiece until the blade has reached maximum speed since this could cause loss of control

and serious injury. Cut slowly until

the blade has fully penetrated the thickness of the workpiece

Metal cutting

Metals such as sheet steel, pipe, steel rods, aluminium, brass and copper can be cut with your saw.

Be careful not to bend or twist the

blade and do not force the cutting action.

We recommend that you use cutting oil to lubricate the cut when sawing soft metals and steel. It keeps the blade cooler and prolongs blade life.

CAUTION. Clamp the work firmly and cut close to the clamping point to minimise vibration. When cutting conduit pipe or angle iron, clamp the work in a vice if possible and cut close to the vice. To cut thin sheet metal, sandwich the sheet between hardboard or plywood and clamp the layers to prevent vibration and the tearing of the metal.

Maintenance

WARNING. Always ensure that the tool is switched off and

the plug is removed from the power point before making any

adjustments or maintenance procedures.

Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They may vibrate loose over time.

Cleaning

1. Keep the tool’s air vents unclogged and clean at all times.

2. Remove dust and dirt regularly. Cleaning is best done with a rag.

3. Re-lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals.

4. Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts.

CAUTION. Do not use cleaning agents to clean the plastic

parts of the tool. A mild detergent on a damp cloth is

recommended. Water must never come into contact with the tool.

Power cord maintenance

If the supply cord needs replacing, the task must be carried out by the manufacturer, the manufacturer’s agent, or an authorised service centre in order to avoid a safety hazard.

Algemene veiligheidsregels

WAARSCHUWING. Lees alle instructies door. Het niet

opvolgen van alle instructies die hieronder vermeld staan,

kan resulteren in een elektrische schok, brand en/of

ernstig letsel. De term “elektrisch gereedschap” in alle hieronder vermelde waarschuwingen heeft betrekking op uw op de stroom aangesloten (met een snoer) elektrische gereedschap of uw met een accu (snoerloos) bediende elektrische gereedschap.

Bewaar deze instructies

1. WERKGEBIED

a. Houd het werkgebied schoon en zorg voor een goede

verlichting. Rommelige en donkere ruimtes leiden vaak

tot ongelukken.

b. Werk niet met elektrisch gereedschap in explosieve

omgevingen, zoals bijvoorbeeld in de aanwezigheid

van ontvlambare vloeistoffen, gassen of stof. Elektrisch gereedschap brengt vonken teweeg die stof of dampen kunnen doen ontbranden.

c. Houd kinderen en omstanders uit de buurt wanneer u

elektrisch gereedschap bedient. Door afleiding kunt u

de controle over het gereedschap verliezen.

2. VEILIGHEID MET BETREKKING TOT ELEKTRICITEIT

a. De stekkers van het elektrische gereedschap

moeten passen bij het stopcontact. U mag op geen

enkele manier de stekker aanpassen. Gebruik geen

adapterstekkers bij geaard elektrisch gereedschap. Het gebruikmaken van ongewijzigde stekkers en bijpassende

stopcontacten vermindert het risico op een elektrische schok.

b. Vermijd lichamelijk contact met geaarde

oppervlakken zoals pijpen, radiatoren, fornuizen en koelkasten. Het risico op een elektrische schok neemt

toe als uw lichaam geaard wordt.

c. Laat elektrisch gereedschap niet nat worden.

Wanneer elektrisch gereedschap nat wordt, neemt het risico op een elektrische schok toe.

d. Beschadig het snoer niet. Gebruik het snoer nooit

om te dragen, te trekken of om de stekker uit het

stopcontact te trekken. Houd het snoer verwijderd van

hitte, olie, scherpe randen of bewegende delen. Door beschadigde of in de knoop geraakte snoeren neemt het risico op een elektrische schok toe.

e. Wanneer u elektrisch gereedschap buiten gebruikt,

maak dan gebruik van een verlengsnoer dat geschikt is voor gebruik buitenshuis. Het gebruik van een snoer

dat geschikt is voor gebruik buitenshuis vermindert het risico op een elektrische schok.

3. PERSOONLIJKE VEILIGHEID a. Blijf alert, houd uw aandacht gericht op wat u aan

het doen bent en gebruik uw gezonde verstand wanneer u elektrisch gereedschap bedient. Gebruik

het elektrisch gereedschap niet wanneer u vermoeid bent

of onder invloed van drugs, alcohol of medicijnen. Eén moment van onoplettendheid tijdens het bedienen van elektrisch gereedschap kan leiden tot ernstig persoonlijk

letsel.

b. Maak gebruik van veiligheidsmateriaal. Draag altijd

oogbescherming. Veiligheidsmateriaal dat onder

de juiste omstandigheden gebruikt wordt, zoals een

stofmasker, niet-slippend veiligheidsschoeisel, een helm

of oorbescherming, vermindert persoonlijk letsel.

c. Zorg ervoor dat het apparaat niet per ongeluk wordt

gestart. Kijk of de schakelaar in de uit-stand staat

voordat u de stekker in het stopcontact steekt. Het dragen van elektrisch gereedschap met uw vinger op de schakelaar of het aansluiten op de stroom van elektrisch gereedschap met de schakelaar ingeschakeld kan tot ongelukken leiden.

d. Verwijder alle stel- of moersleutels voordat u het

elektrische gereedschap inschakelt. Een moer- of

stelsleutel die zich op een draaiend onderdeel van het elektrische gereedschap bevindt, kan leiden tot

persoonlijk letsel.

e. Reik niet te ver. Blijf altijd stevig en in balans staan. Zo

houdt u meer controle over het elektrische gereedschap in onverwachte situaties.

f. Draag geschikte kleding. Draag geen loshangende

kleding of sieraden. Houd uw haar, kleding en

handschoenen weg van bewegende delen. Loshangende

kleding, sieraden of lang haar kunnen in bewegende delen terechtkomen.

g. Als er onderdelen voor stofafvoer- en

stofverzameling worden meegeleverd, sluit deze dan aan en gebruik deze op de juiste wijze. Het gebruik

van deze onderdelen kan het risico op stofgerelateerde ongelukken verminderen.

4. GEBRUIK EN VERZORGING VAN ELEKTRISCH GEREEDSCHAP

a. Forceer elektrisch gereedschap niet. Gebruik

elektrisch gereedschap dat geschikt is voor het werk dat u wilt uitvoeren. Geschikt elektrisch gereedschap werkt beter en veiliger op een passende snelheid.

b. Gebruik het elektrische gereedschap niet als de

schakelaar het apparaat niet in- en uitschakelt. Elk

elektrisch gereedschap dat niet bediend kan worden met

de schakelaar is gevaarlijk en moet gerepareerd worden.

c. Haal de stekker uit het stopcontact voordat u

instellingen aanpast, accessoires verandert of het elektrische gereedschap opbergt. Dergelijke

voorzorgsmaatregelen verminderen het risico op het per ongeluk starten van het elektrische gereedschap.

d. Berg elektrisch gereedschap dat niet in gebruik is

op buiten bereik van kinderen en laat mensen die niet bekend zijn met het elektrische gereedschap of met deze instructies het elektrische gereedschap niet bedienen. Elektrisch gereedschap is gevaarlijk in de

handen van onervaren gebruikers.

e. Haal altijd de stekker van het elektrisch gereedschap

uit het stopcontact indien u dit onbeheerd achterlaat.

Dergelijke preventieve veiligheidsmaatregelen

verminderen het risico op het per ongeluk starten van het elektrische gereedschap door ongeoefende gebruikers.

f. Onderhoud uw elektrisch gereedschap. Controleer op

foutieve uitlijning of het vastslaan van bewegende delen, gebroken onderdelen en elke andere afwijking die de werking van het elektrische gereedschap zou kunnen beïnvloeden. Indien het elektrische

gereedschap beschadigd is, moet u het laten repareren

voordat u het weer gebruikt. Veel ongelukken worden veroorzaakt door slecht onderhouden elektrisch gereedschap.

g. Houd snijwerktuigen scherp en schoon. Goed

onderhouden scherp snijdende snijwerktuigen slaan minder snel vast en zijn gemakkelijker te bedienen.

h. Gebruik het elektrische gereedschap, de accessoires

en onderdelen, etc. volgens deze instructies en zoals is bedoeld voor elk specifiek type elektrisch gereedschap, en houd daarbij rekening met de werkomstandigheden en het uit te voeren werk. Gebruik van elektrisch gereedschap voor

werkzaamheden die verschillen van die waarvoor het

apparaat bestemd is, kan leiden tot een gevaarlijke

situatie.

5. ONDERHOUD a. Laat uw elektrische gereedschap onderhouden

door een gekwalificeerde vakman en gebruik alleen identieke vervangende onderdelen. Zo bent u er zeker

van dat de veiligheid van het elektrische gereedschap

gewaarborgd blijft.

Aanvullende veiligheidsregels voor reciprozagen

• Haal altijd de stekker uit het stopcontact voordat u

instellingen aanpast of onderhoud pleegt, inclusief het vervangen van zaagblad.

• Wanneer u de zaag gebruikt, dient u veiligheidsmateriaal

te gebruiken, inclusief een veiligheidsbril of -schild, gehoorbescherming, een stofmasker en beschermende kleding inclusief veiligheidshandschoenen.

• Zorg voor voldoende verlichting.

• Houd uw werkgebied vrij van zaken waar u over

kunt struikelen.

• Personen jonger dan 18 jaar mogen deze zaag niet bedienen.

• Ga altijd aan één kant van de zaag staan wanneer u deze bedient.

• Gebruik nooit een gebarsten of vervormd zaagblad.

Gebruik alleen scherpe zaagbladen.

• Wanneer u rond hout zaagt, gebruik dan klemmen aan

beide kanten van het zaagblad om te voorkomen dat het werkstuk gaat draaien.

• Verwijder zaagstof, spaanders of afval vlakbij het

zaagblad nooit met uw handen.

• Gebruik alleen aanbevolen zaagbladen.

• Lappen, kleden, snoeren, koorden en dergelijke mogen

nooit in het werkgebied rondslingeren.

• Zaag niet door spijkers. Inspecteer het werkstuk en verwijder alle spijkers en andere vreemde objecten

voordat u begint te zagen.

• Ondersteun het werk goed.

• Reik nooit over het zaagblad heen om afval of afgezaagde stukken te verwijderen.

• Probeer een zaagblad dat vastzit niet los te maken

voordat u de machine hebt uitgeschakeld.

• Laat een zaagblad niet langzamer gaan of stoppen door middel van een stuk hout. Laat het zaagblad uit zichzelf

tot stilstand komen.

• Als u gestoord wordt tijdens het zagen, maak uw werk dan af en schakel de zaag uit voordat u op- of omkijkt.

• Controleer regelmatig of alle moeren, bouten en andere

onderdelen nog goed vastzitten.

• Houd de zaag altijd vast aan onderdelen die geïsoleerd zijn. Als u per ongeluk in verborgen bedrading zaagt of in

het eigen snoer van de zaag, komen de metalen delen van de zaag onder stroom te staan.

• Zaag nooit in de buurt van brandbare vloeistoffen of gassen.

Het gereedschap mag alleen gebruikt worden voor het voorgeschreven doel. Elk ander doel dan vermeld staat in deze handleiding wordt beschouwd als misbruik. De

gebruiker en niet de fabrikant is vervolgens aansprakelijk

voor eventuele schade of eventueel letsel ten gevolge van

dergelijke gevallen van misbruik. De fabrikant is niet verantwoordelijk voor eventuele

wijzigingen die gedaan worden aan het gereedschap, noch voor eventuele schade die het resultaat is van dergelijke wijzigingen.

Zelfs wanneer het gereedschap gebruikt wordt zoals

is voorgeschreven, is het niet mogelijk alle resterende

risicofactoren te elimineren. De volgende gevaren kunnen zich voordoen met betrekking tot de constructie en het ontwerp van het gereedschap:

• Contact met het zaagblad.

• Terugslag van het werkstuk of delen van het werkstuk.

• Breken van het mes.

• Wegschieten van delen van het zaagblad.

• Gehoorschade indien er geen goed werkende

gehoorbeschermers worden gedragen.

• Schadelijke emissie van houtstof wanneer de machine in een gesloten ruimte wordt gebruikt. Maak waar mogelijk altijd gebruik van een stofafvoermechanisme.

• Gebruik geen zaagbladen die vervormd of gescheurd zijn.

• Rol verlengsnoeren op een kabelhaspel volledig uit om mogelijke oververhitting te voorkomen.

• Indien u een verlengsnoer nodig hebt, dient u ervoor te zorgen dat het de juiste ampère heeft voor uw elektrische

gereedschap en in goede staat is.

• Na langdurig gebruik kunnen accessoires en metalen delen aan de buitenkant heet zijn.

• Forceer de zaag niet; laat het gereedschap het werk doen op een redelijke snelheid. Er ontstaat overbelasting

als u teveel druk uitoefent en de motor draait langzamer

wat resulteert in minder efficiënt zagen en mogelijke

schade aan de motor.

• Haal altijd de stekker uit het stopcontact voordat u

instellingen aanpast of onderhoud pleegt, inclusief het vervangen van het zaagblad.

WAARSCHUWINGEN. Voordat u gereedschap met de stroom verbindt (stopcontact, verlengsnoer, etc.), dient u

ervoor te zorgen dat het voltage gelijk is aan wat op het gegevensplaatje van het gereedschap wordt vermeld.

Indien het voltage van de stroombron hoger is dan op het gereedschap vermeld staat, kan dit leiden tot ernstig letsel voor de gebruiker en schade aan het gereedschap.

Verbind het gereedschap niet met de stroom indien u

twijfelt. Indien u een stroombron gebruikt met een voltage dat lager is dan op het gegevensplaatje staat vermeld, is dit schadelijk voor de motor.

De GMC RC1200 reciprozaag wordt met de volgende accessoires geleverd in een opbergkoffer:

• 1 x sloopzaagblad

• Draagtas

Uitpakken

Vanwege de moderne massaproductietechnieken is het

niet waarschijnlijk dat uw GMC-gereedschap gebreken vertoont of dat er een onderdeel ontbreekt. Als u ziet dat

er iets niet in orde is, gebruik het gereedschap dan niet

totdat de onderdelen vervangen zijn of het defect is

hersteld. Indien u dit niet doet, kan dit leiden tot ernstig

persoonlijk letsel.

Voordat u de reciprozaag gaat gebruiken, dient u alle kenmerken en veiligheidseisen goed in u op te nemen.

Gebruik het gereedschap alleen voor het doel waarvoor het

bestemd is. Alle andere doelen zijn expliciet uitgesloten.

Instellen

Een zaagblad monteren LET OP. Zorg er altijd voor dat de zaag is uitgeschakeld en

van de stroom is gehaald voordat u een zaagblad monteert

of verwijdert. Draag werkhandschoenen wanneer u een

zaagblad vervangt.

1. Maak de zaagbladklem (4) los door op de klemhendel

(12) te drukken. Zo kan het zaagblad erin gestoken worden.

2. Terwijl u de zaagbladklem open houdt, steekt u het

nieuwe zaagblad erin en lijnt u dit blad uit.

3. Laat de hendel van de

zaagbladklem (12) los om het zaagblad op zijn plaats te

vergrendelen.

4. Trek aan het blad om te

controleren of het goed vastzit.

WAARSCHUWING. Controleer of het zaagblad goed vastzit voordat u de zaag start.

Indien u dit niet doet, kan dit ernstig letsel tot gevolg hebben.

Aan- en uitschakelen

1. Steek de stekker in het stopcontact.

2. Om de zaag te starten, drukt u op de vergrendelknop

(3) en knijpt u in de

trekkerschakelaar (1).

3. U hoeft de vergrendelknop (3) niet ingedrukt te houden

als de zaag gestart is. Als de

trekkerschakelaar (1) echter wordt losgelaten, vergrendelt de vergrendelknop weer om te voorkomen dat de zaag per ongeluk gestart wordt.

4. Om de zaag opnieuw te starten, moeten zowel de vergrendelknop (3) als de trekkerschakelaar (1) opnieuw ingedrukt worden.

De snelheid variëren

Pas de snelheid aan bij het

zaagblad en het materiaal dat u zaagt met de knop voor de

snelheidsbediening (9).

De pendelbediening gebruiken

1. Met de pendelbediening (2) op stand , beweegt het zaagblad alleen naar voren en naar achteren. Dit wordt “recht zagen” genoemd. Gebruik “recht zagen” als u harde materialen zoals metaal zaagt.

2. Met de pendelbediening (2) op stand , beweegt het zaagblad op en neer en naar voren en naar achteren. Dit “pendelzagen” is heel handig voor het zagen van zachtere materialen.

Opmerking. Met pendelzagen

kunt u een ruwe afwerking krijgen. Gebruik een vijl of rasp om de rand indien nodig bij te werken.

WAARSCHUWING. Gebruik de stand “recht zagen” als u gebogen of gladde zaagsnedes wilt maken, ook als u met zachte materialen werkt..

De positie van de schoen veranderen LET OP. Zorg er altijd voor dat de zaag is uitgeschakeld en

dat de stekker uit het stopcontact is gehaald.

1. Maak de twee schoenstelschroeven (10) los met de zeskantige sleutel (11) en plaats de schoen zo dat de lengte van het zaagblad naar wens bedekt wordt.

2. Zet de schoenstelschroeven weer vast. Zet de schroeven niet te strak vast, omdat dan de schroefdraad doldraait.

3. Stel de hoek van de schoen naar wens in, door deze om

zijn as te draaien.

4. Laat indien mogelijk de schoen

rusten op het materiaal dat

wordt gezaagd. Wijzig de hoek

van de schoen om hem te

laten passen bij de vorm van

het materiaal.

LET OP. Werk niet met de reciprozaag als de verstelbare schoen beschadigd is of niet gemonteerd.

De achterhandgreep draaien LET OP. Zorg er altijd voor dat de zaag is uitgeschakeld

en dat de stekker uit het stopcontact is gehaald.

1. De achterhandgreep (7) kan rondgedraaid worden naar

acht vaste bedieningsstanden, met een tussenruimte van 45°.

2. De achterhandgreep moet “vergrendeld” worden in één

van de acht vaste standen. Zet hem niet op een stand

tussen deze acht vaste standen in, omdat hij dan kan gaan draaien tijdens het gebruik, wat gevaarlijk is.

3. Om de handgreep (7) te

draaien, drukt u op de

schakelaar voor het vrijgeven van de handgreeprotatie (8)

en beweegt u de handgreep

naar één van de vaste

standen. De handgreep kan drie standen naar links en vier standen naar rechts gedraaid worden.

Zagen algemeen

1. Houd de zaag stevig vast, voor u maar niet vlakbij u.

2. Zorg ervoor dat het zaagblad niet geblokkeerd wordt en dat het snoer of het eventuele verlengsnoer niet in de buurt van het zaagblad kan komen.

3. Controleer of het te zagen materiaal stevig vast zit. Kleine werkstukken moeten worden vastgeklemd in een klem of aan de werkbank.

4. Markeer de zaaglijn.

5. Knijp in de trekker.

6. Selecteer de snelheid met de bedieningsknop (9).

7. Plaats de schoen op het

werkstuk en begin te zagen.

Opmerking. Gebruik net voldoende druk om het zaagblad aan het zagen te houden. Forceer

de zaag niet; laat het zaagblad en

de zaag het werk doen. WAARSCHUWING. Teveel

druk kan ertoe leiden dat het zaagblad buigt of verdraait waardoor het kan breken.

Gaten zagen

1. Markeer de zaaglijn.

2. Kies een punt binnen het gebied dat moet worden uitgezaagd en plaats de punt van het zaagblad boven dat punt.

3. Laat de voorrand van de

schoen op het werkstuk rusten en houd de zaag stevig op

zijn plaats.

4. Druk op de vergrendelknop

en knijp in de trekker om het

zagen te starten.

WAARSCHUWING. Zorg ervoor dat het zaagblad het werkstuk niet aanraakt voordat het zaagblad de maximale snelheid bereikt heeft, omdat dit zou kunnen leiden tot controleverlies en ernstig letsel. Zaag langzaam tot het zaagblad volledig door de dikte van het werkstuk heen is.

Metaal zagen

Met deze zaag kan metaal

zoals plaatstaal, pijpen, stalen

stangen, aluminium, messing en koper gezaagd worden. Wees voorzichtig en buig of verdraai het zaagblad niet en forceer het zagen niet.

Wij raden u aan zaagolie te

gebruiken om de zaagsnede te smeren als u zacht metaal en staal zaagt.

Dit houdt het zaagblad koel en verlengt de levensduur van het zaagblad.

LET OP. Klem het werk stevig vast en zaag vlak langs het klempunt om de vibratie te minimaliseren. Wanneer

u pijpwerk of hoekijzer zaagt, klem het werk dan indien mogelijk in een klem en zaag vlak langs de klem. Om dun

plaatmetaal te zagen, plaatst u de plaat tussen hardboard of triplex. Vervolgens plaatst u de lagen in een klem om vibratie en het scheuren van het metaal te voorkomen.

Onderhoud

WAARSCHUWING. . Zorg er altijd voor dat het

gereedschap is uitgeschakeld en dat de stekker uit het stopcontact is gehaald voordat u

instellings- of onderhoudprocedures uitvoert. Controleer regelmatig of alle bevestigingsschroeven nog

goed vast zitten. Door vibratie kunnen ze na enige tijd los

gaan zitten.

Reinigen

1. Houd de ventilatieopeningen van het gereedschap altijd

schoon en open.

2. Verwijder regelmatig stof en vuil. U kunt het apparaat het beste met een doek reinigen.

3. Smeer alle bewegende delen regelmatig.

4. Gebruik nooit bijtende middelen om plastic onderdelen te reinigen.

LET OP. Gebruik geen reinigingsmiddelen om de plastic onderdelen van het gereedschap te reinigen. Een mild reinigingsmiddel op een vochtige doek wordt aanbevolen. Het gereedschap mag nooit in contact komen met water.

Onderhoud elektriciteitssnoer

Als het snoer vervangen moet worden, moet dit worden

gedaan door de fabrikant, de tussenpersoon van de fabrikant of een bevoegd servicecentrum, zodat er geen veiligheidsrisico ontstaat.
