Product description
The Gateway is the core module of the ZigBoat™ PRO system with built-in 3G SIM card slot and battery back-up. This
allows the connected sensors to send push notifications and SMS text messages when an event occurs. (SIM Card is not
included).
Precautions
Keep the IMEI and Serial number codes in a safe place. These two codes are in the blister packaging.
Getting started
1. Before you read this appendix, please read the ZigBoat™ owner’s manual.
IMPORTANT: If your Cellular provider uses Pin Codes with their SIM cards, they must be deactivated before use.
NOTE: Make sure the gateway is turned off, before inserting the Micro USB SIM Card in the slot.
2. Insert the Micro SIM Card into the SIM slot located on the underside of the Gateway.

NOTE: If you wish to receive SMS notifications on a NON-US phone number, please verify with your carrier if
this option is possible.

NOTE: You can add a maximum of 5 phone numbers to receive SMS text messages.
3. To enable SMS notifications for sensor, press the “Enable” button under each sensor. To disable the SMS
notifications, click on the “Disable” button. (fig. 4)
3. Turn on the Gateway and wait a few minutes.
NOTE: Make sure the Gateway is turned on and configurated correctly, for more details see the Gateway owner’s
manual.
SMS notifications
1. Open the ZigBoat™ App and select the Gateway in the “ZB Gateways” menu. Wait a few seconds, then select
the menu button on the top right (fig. 1) and then select the “SMS” tab (fig. 2).
1. To receive the SMS notifications, type the phone number of your mobile device with the country code (001 or
+1 for international numbers or 1 for US numbers). You can also add the name for the phone number (optional)
and choose the SMS language (available languages: English, Italian, French, German and Spanish) (fig. 3).
2. To remove a phone number, click on the “X” next to the number.

How to setup internet connections
If the Micro SIM Card is enabled for text and data connection service, you can use the ZigBoat™ gateway to connect
to the internet and receive push notifications through the ZigBoat™ App. The Gateway will also send SMS text
messages to the phone numbers that were added in the app.
1. In the “SMS” tab, type the correct APN (fig. 5)
NOTE: The APN depends both on carrier and data plan. Check for the correct APN with the cellular provider of
the SIM Card
2. Click on “Set APN” and wait a few seconds. (fig. 5)

If needed, enter the username and password.

Mobile carrier compatibility
The ZigBoat™ PRO is compatible with the AT&T and T-Mobile networks.
Frequency bands:
3G bands: 850MHz, 1900MHz
Battery Back-up
The built-in battery back-up allows the ZigBoat™ PRO to work in case of power failure.
NOTE: The ZigBoat™ PRO works up to approximately 4 hours without direct power supplied (if the internal battery is
charged). The amount of time is dependent on several conditions and can vary, such as:
• environmental conditions
• battery charge status
Settings
The battery back-up is enabled by default. To check the battery status, select the Menu button, on the top right corner
(Fig. 6), then select the Settings tab (fig. 7) and then select the Battery Back-up tab (fig. 8).

This menu will let you know if the battery is charging, the power source (External power source or internal battery),
and the internal battery voltage.
If the ZigBoat™ PRO is powered by external power, you can reboot the gateway by selecting the reboot button (fig. 9).
If the ZigBoat™ PRO is powered by the internal battery, the Reboot button is replaced by the “Power off” button (fig.
10).

IMPORTANT: Selecting the “Power off” button will turn off the ZigBoat™ PRO. To turn the ZigBoat™ PRO back on, you
must unplug the power cable and then plug it back into the ZigBoat™ PRO. In case of power failure, you must wait for
power to return to the boat.
