Additional safety rules for the battery pack
The battery pack for this tool has been shipped in a low
charge condition. You should charge the battery pack fully before use.
To ensure the longest battery life and best battery
performance, always charge the battery when the air temperature is between 18–24°C. Do not charge the battery pack when the temperature is below 4°C, or above 40°C. This is important. Failure to observe this safety rule could cause serious damage to the battery pack.
Do not incinerate the battery pack even if it is seriously
damaged or can no longer hold a charge. The battery pack can explode in a fire.
A small leakage of liquid from the battery pack may occur
under extreme usage or temperature conditions. This does not necessarily indicate a failure of the battery pack. However, if the outer seal is broken and this leakage comes into contact with your skin:
- Wash the affected area quickly with soap and water.
Neutralise the liquid with a mild acid such as lemon
-
juice or vinegar
If the leakage gets in your eyes:
- Flush your eyes with clean water for a minimum of 10 minutes and seek immediate medical attention. Inform the medical staff that the liquid is a 25Ð35% solution of potassium hydroxide.
Never attempt to open the battery pack for any reason.
If the plastic housing of the battery pack breaks open or cracks, immediately discontinue its use and do not recharge it.
Do not store or carry a spare battery pack in a pocket
or toolbox or any other place where it may come into contact with metal objects. The battery pack may be short circuited causing damage to the battery pack, burns or a fire. If storing the battery pack, cover the terminals with a heavy insulation tape to ensure short circuit cannot occur. Batteries, when stored for a long period of time, will discharge.
Only charge the battery with the charger system supplied.
This battery pack contains nickel-cadmium batteries.
Consult your local waste authority for information regarding available recycling and/or disposal options of a damaged or worn-out battery pack.
Do not leave a battery pack on charge for more than 8
hours. It will damage the battery cells.
Discharging your battery
Discharge your battery pack by operating your screwgun, then remove the battery pack and cover the battery pack terminals with heavy duty adhesive tape to prevent a short circuit and energy discharge. Do not attempt to open or remove any of the components of the battery pack.

To obtain the best life for the battery
Never allow the drill to come to a complete standstill before recharging. The battery should be placed on charge whenever the battery is noticeably running down or the drill no longer performs a task it previously performed.
Avoid conducting short charges. Make sure that the battery is fully charged every time by allowing the charger to complete its full charging cycle.
Avoid allowing lose items like screws or nails etc to be stored with battery packs as these or similar items can short battery packs and cause a fire or explosion.
Always unplug the charger when not in use and store in a dry secure place.
Avoid charging or storing your battery in temperatures below 0°C and above 40°C.
WARNING. Never leave a battery on charge once it starts
to warm up. Never leave the battery pack on charge for more than 3 hours after the green LED lights.
If you wish to charge a second battery pack, pull out the plug from the mains supply and keep it disconnected for at least 15 minutes before attempting to charge the second battery.
WARNING. Never store the battery out of the tool as the
contacts are exposed and could be shorted by a metal object and cause a fire or explosion!
CAUTION. Never use the tool while charging is in progress.
To obtain the best life for the battery, do not let the tool come to a complete standstill before recharging. Do not conduct short charges.
Make sure that the battery is fully charged each time.
Switching on and off
Attach the battery pack (8). To switch on, squeeze the trigger
switch (7). This trigger switch is an electronic variable speed control which enables the user to vary the speed continuously. The speed varies according to how far the trigger switch is depressed, the further it is depressed the faster the motor will rotate and the lighter it is depressed, the slower it will rotate. The switch also acts as a brake as the motor will stop as soon as the trigger switch is fully released.
CAUTION. Always maintain tight control of the tool when
switching on and off and remember that the motor will continue to turn for a short while after switching off.
Forward/reverse control
The forward/reverse control (6) allows you to change the direction of the tool. It must not be used while the variable speed trigger is depressed.
To select forward rotation, depress the control (6) toward the left side of the tool. To select reverse depress the control (6) toward the right side of the tool.
Driving uses the forward mode. The reverse mode is intended for the removal of screws
and other fasteners. The centre position of the control (6) locks the tool in the
off position.
10

Adjusting the driving depth of screws
The depth to which a screw is driven into the wall or other surface can be accurately set to suit the type of screw and the material being fastened. It’s possible to drive screws so that they are raised, flush or countersunk into the material.
The driving depth is adjusted with the adjustment collar (3). Turn the adjustment collar (3) to approximately the correct
setting. (Take care not to over tighten the adjustment collar so that
the graduated markings on the nose cone are completely covered).
Drive a test screw into a piece of scrap material. To increase the depth of the head of the screw below the surface of the material, turn the adjustment collar (3) clockwise so that the end of the bit extends further from the end of the nose cone.
To decrease the depth of the screw, turn the adjustment collar (3) anti-clockwise so that the end of the bit is closer to the end of the nose cone.
WARNING. Do not over tighten the adjustment collar (keep
within the graduated markings on the nose cone) as it can cause the nose cone to jam.
If the adjustment collar (3) is overtightened and jams, pull on the nose cone (1) and turn the collar (3) to re-engage the thread.
Operation
Install the bit tip in the bit holder. Adjust the driving depth with
the adjustment collar (3). Check that the tool is set for
forward or reverse rotation as desired.
When driving, place the screw on the bit, operate the trigger switch and apply pressure to the tool.
Drive the screw until the nose cone contacts the work surface at which time the clutch will disengage and the driving action will stop.
When removing screws and other fasteners, make sure that the adjustment collar (3) is all the way towards the nose piece and that the forward/reverse switch (6) is positioned on the left-hand side of the tool (as viewed from the rear).

Hints for use
When driving screws close to the ends of hardwoood or
treated timber boards it may be necessary to pre-drill pilot holes to prevent spitting.
Use the proper screws for the task on hand. Drywall
screws are not suitable for decking applications.
Make sure that screws are long enough to ensure a
secure fastening.
Use the low speed gear when driving into decking and
the like, and the high speed gear when driving into drywalls.
Once the screw has started to drive into the material, do
not stop until it is fully seated. Keep full pressure of the bit on the screw head to prevent slippage and possible damage to the screw head or bit.
Before driving deck screws check that there is not gap
between the board and the support.
Do not drive through knots in the wood unless absolutely
necessary. If there is no choice, pre-drill a pilot hole to the same diameter as that of the screw shank.
Maintenance
WARNING. Ensure that the
tool is switched off and the battery is removed before changing accessories or carrying out other adjustment or maintenance procedures.
Keep the tool’s air vents unclogged and clean at all times.
Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter has entered the grills near the motor and around the trigger switch. Use a soft brush to remove any accumulated dust. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes whilst cleaning.
Re-lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals. If the body of the tool needs cleaning, wipe it with a soft
damp cloth. A mild detergent can be used but nothing like alcohol, petrol or other cleaning agent.
