Z Beam Upright Position

Bottom Frame Assembly
Assemble 2 End Frames
NOTE: To assemble the 6-shelf unit, use P1 upright posts. To
assemble the 5-shelf unit, use P5 upright posts.
1. Insert the rivets of the short Z beam (P3) into the bottom keyhole
slots of an upright post (P1 for the 6-shelf unit; P5 for the 5-shelf
unit).

■ When assembling all long and short Z beams, press the beam
rivets to the bottom of the keyhole slots.
■ Check that the beam rivets are fully seated in the slots.
■ If necessary, a rubber mallet may be used to seat the beam rivets
in the slots.
■ To avoid damage or bending of the beam, gently tap the beam
with the rubber mallet.

2. Insert the rivets on the other end of the short Z beam (P3) into the
bottom keyhole slots of the second upright post (P1 or P5).
3. Press the beam rivets to the bottom of the keyhole slots making

■ Maximum weight limit is 500 lbs (226 kg) for each shelf.

7. With the assembled bottom frame turned over, insert the post
caps (P7) into each upright post (P1 or P5).
2. Insert the rivets on the other end of the long Z beam (P2) into the
bottom keyhole slots of the second upright post (P1 or P5).
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to attach the second long Z beam to the
other upright post.
4. Press the beam rivets to the bottom of the keyhole slots making
sure they are fully seated in the slots to lock the pieces together.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 to join the long Z beams to the second
end frame.
6. Turn the bottom frame assembly upside down.
8. Set assembled frame in original position with the shelf frame on
the bottom.
Top Frame Assembly
Assemble 2 End Frames
The top frame assembly is similar to the bottom frame assembly
except that the short Z beams are joined to the top of the upright
posts.
1. Insert the rivets of the short Z beam (P3) into the top keyhole
slots of an upright post (P1 or P5).

3. Press the beam rivets to the bottom of the keyhole slots making

Assemble Top End Frames to Bottom Frame Assembly
1. Insert the post inserts (P6) into the top of the 4 bottom frame
assembly uprights.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 to attach the second top end frame to
the bottom end frame assembly.
2. Slide each top end frame over the bottom frame assembly post
inserts (P6).
3. Attach a short Z beam (P3) to the top and bottom frame joint.
NOTE: Check that the top and bottom rivets of the short Z beam
straddle the top and bottom frame joint.
5. Attach 2 long Z beams (P2) to the top and bottom frame joints on
each side.
NOTE: Check that the top and bottom rivets of the long Z beam
straddle the top and bottom frame joints.

1. Insert the top rivets of the long Z beam (P2) into the top keyhole
slots of the upright post (P1 or P5).

sure they are fully seated in the slots to lock the pieces together.
NOTE: The Z beams are adjustable in 1¹⁄₂" (3.8 cm) increments
allowing multiple shelf location configurations.
Complete Assembly
1. Place a laminated shelf deck (P4) inside the Z beams (P2 and
P3).
2. Insert the post caps (P7) into the top of each upright post (P1 or
P5).
2. Determine the vertical location of the remaining shelves.
NOTE: It is recommended to equally space the shelves from top
to bottom of the shelving unit.
3. Attach the remaining long Z beams (P2) and short Z beams (P3)
at the desired locations on the upright posts (P1 or P5).
4. Check that all Z beams are assembled in the upright position.
3. Move the shelving unit to its final location.

3. Insert the rivets of one long Z beam (P2) into the top keyhole slot
of upright post (P1) on each side of the bottom frame assembly.

Add-On Unit Assembly
5. Check that all Z beams are assembled in the upright position as
shown in.
Assemble Shelf Frame
1. Insert the rivets of one short Z beam (P3) into the keyhole slots at
each end at the desired location for the shelf.
2. Press the beam rivets to the bottom of the keyhole slots making
sure they are fully seated in the slots to lock the pieces together.
3. Insert the rivets of one long Z beam (P2) into the keyhole slots on
each side aligning with short Z beam locations to complete the
shelf frame.
4. Press the beam rivets to the bottom of the keyhole slots making
sure they are fully seated in the slots to lock the pieces together.
6-Shelf Unit
1. To begin assembly of the 6-shelf unit, complete the steps in
“Bottom Frame Assembly” and “Complete Frame Assembly”
sections of “Assembly Instructions—Shelf” section.
2. Then go to “Join Frames” in this section to complete assembly of
the 6-shelf unit.
5-Shelf Unit
NOTE: P1 or P5 upright posts may be used to assemble the
workbench add-on unit.
1. Insert the rivets of the short Z beam (P3) into the top keyhole
slots of 2 upright posts (P1 or P5).
2. Insert the rivets of another short Z beam into the 7
keyhole slots from the bottom of the upright posts.
3. Press the beam rivets to the bottom of the keyhole slots making
sure they are fully seated in the slots to lock the pieces together.

slots on each side of the add-on unit assembly.
6. Insert the rivets of another long Z beam (P2) into the seventh and
eighth keyhole slots from the bottom of the upright posts (P1 or
P5) aligning with short Z beams to complete the shelf frame.
NOTE: Upright post (P1) aligned with upright post (P5) is shown.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the front upright posts.
Complete Workbench Assembly
1. Place a laminated shelf deck (P4) on top of the Z beams (P2 and
P3).
NOTE: 5-shelf unit shown. Follow the instructions for the 6-shelf unit
also.
7. Press the beam rivets to the bottom of the keyhole slots making
sure they are fully seated in the slots to lock the pieces together.
8. Turn the add-on unit over and insert the post caps (P7) into the
exposed end of each upright post.
9. Place add-on unit in the upright position.
Join Frames
1. Align the center upright posts.
2. Align the indents on the post clip (P8) with 2 keyhole slots on the
back center upright posts. Slide post clip (P8) onto upright posts
securing the 2 center upright posts together.
2. Insert the post caps (P7) into the top of the upright posts.
NOTE: Periodically inspect the unit to ensure that all Z beams are
seated properly and firmly connected to the upright posts.
