FEATURES
The otoscope (veterinary) is suitable to directly examine the external acoustic duct and the tympanic membrane. The otoscope is provided with a bayonet locking system. The model is equipped with a 2,5V lamp and are supplied by two 1,5V alkaline batteries type “C”. The otoscopes are provided with a rheostat to adjust the intensity of light, a removable glass allowing a 2X magnication and an output for air insufation to check the mobility of the tympanic membrane. The otoscopes are delivered with autoclavable specula with different sizes. The product or its components cannot be used for purposes different from the one specied in the present manual.
The ophthalmoscope is designed for examination of the eye.Precision ground lenses provide 24 dioptre settings, from +ve: 0, 1 to 6 then 8, 10, 12, 15, 20 and 40 to -ve: 0, 1 to 6 then 8, 10, 15, 20 and 25. The May wheel containing the lenses can be rotated in either clockwise or anti clockwise direction
PRESCRIPTIONS
The product shall be used exclusively with alkaline batteries type “C” correctly installed. It shall not be dipped into water! When cleaning, make sure that the lamp socket or the battery com­partment is not soaked with water. Do not use the equipment in case it is damaged. Apply to your retailer. Avoid precarious repairs. Repairs shall be carried out with original spare parts only, which shall be installed according to the intended use.
Since the product is made of corrosion-proof materials suitable for the enviromental conditions fore­seen for its normal use, does not require special care, however it is necessary to store it in a closed place making sure that is protected from dust and dirt to assure its hygenic conditions. Moreover, it is recommended to store the product in a place which can be reached easily by the personnel in case of necessity.
INSTALLATION
Before using it, it is necessary to insert the batteries into the apposite compartment. Proceed as follows:
- Open the battery compartment. To do this clockwise turn the apposite ring nut located on the handle.
- Once opened, insert the batteries paying attention to the direction of poles (see picture).
- To close the battery compartment, clockwise screw down the ring nut and check that the batteries are in contact with poles.
In case the otoscope / opthalmoscope head unit separates from the handle, proceed as follows: For versions with bayonet cap, it is necessary to hold the otoscope handle and head group,counter-clock­wise turn this last one until a click is heard, at this point it is possible to take the head off.To insert the head, make the bayonet cap grooves match, push the head towards the bottom and clockwise rotate it
The operation necessary to remove and replace the speculum is very simple: Counterclockwise rotate the speculum and draw it out of its seat. To reposition the speculum, insert it into the head group, make the groove match with the small pivot and clockwise rotate.

In case of Otoscopes with bayonet locking system, proceed as follows: It is necessary to hold the Otoscope handle and head in each hand and turn the head counter-clock­wise until a click is heard. At this point it is possible to take the head off. To re-attach the head, match the bayonet grooves on both the head and handle, push the head down and turn the head clock wise.

OPERATION
First of all it is necessary to choose the size and the type of speculum suitable to the acoustic duct to examine The examiner shall turn on the light by means of the black knurled ring nut located on the handle upper side. The model is equipped with a rheostat. Thus pressing the white pushbutton and slowly clockwise rotating the ring nut it is possible to increase the intensity of light. Counter-clockwise rotate the ring nut to turn down the light until it is off. After the use, make sure that the light is off.
MAINTENANCE
Periodically check the battery conditions, making sure that no sign of corrosion or oxidation is present, in case of necessity replace them with new alkaline ones. Carefully handle the batteries as the liquids they contain can irritate skin and eyes.
Before being used, thoroughly check the product. The same operation shall be carried out after clean­ing.
- Check that the connection between the head and the handle is perfect and that the rheostat correctly
works.
- If the light is intermittent or in case it does not turn on, check the bulb, the batteries and the electric
contacts. In case the bulb stops working, it is possible to replace it with original spare parts (see picture).. To replace the bulb, it is necessary to take the speculum out, counter-clockwise turn the bulb and screw the new one down (see picture). It is advisable to use only original bulbs.
Before removing the bulb, make sure that the instrument has been off for some minutes; other-
wise you run the risk of being burnt.
- Check that the glass is clean; on the contrary it shall be removed. pull it towards you. After cleaning, reintroduce the glass into its seat (see picture).
- It is advisable to always have new bulbs and batteries at disposal for the maximum light.

The product has been conceived to last forever; it is resistant to most part of chemicals except for methyl ethyl ketones (M.E.K.), diluents and nail polish removers. All internal parts are brass and chrome plated preventing rusting. If the lamp is exposed to humidity remove the batteries, thoroughly dry to avoid short-circuits.

Disposal: The product must not be disposed of along with other domestic waste. The users must dispose of this equipment by bringing it to a specic recycling point for electric and elec­tronic equipment. For further information on recycling points contact the local authorities, the local recycling center or the shop where the product was purchased. If the equipment is not disposed of correctly, nes or penalties may be applied in accordance with the national legisla­tion and regulations.
GIMA WARRANTY CONDITIONS
Congratulations for purchasing a GIMA product. This product meets high qualitative standards both as regards the material and the production. The warranty is valid for 12 months from the date of supply of GIMA. During the period of validity of the warranty, GIMA will repair and/or replace free of charge all the defect­ed parts due to production reasons. Labor costs and personnel traveling expenses and packaging not included. All components subject to wear are not included in the warranty. The repair or replacement performed during the warranty period shall not extend the warranty. The warranty is void in the following cases: repairs performed by unauthorized personnel or with non-orig­inal spare parts, defects caused by negligence or incorrect use. GIMA cannot be held responsible for malfunctioning on electronic devices or software due to outside agents such as: voltage changes, electro-magnetic elds, radio interferences, etc. The warranty is void if the above regulations are not observed and if the serial code (if available) has been removed, cancelled or changed. The defected products must be returned only to the dealer the product was purchased from. Products sent to GIMA will be rejected.
