GB USER INSTRUCTION
BEFORE USING THE PPE, THE USER MUST:
- Make sure it is suitable for intended use (by thoroughly reading these notes)
and make sure the ocular/lens/screen component is devoid of scratches and/
or cracks or defects that could negatively affect resistance to knocks and/or
correct viewing. If necessary, replace the damaged ocular.
- In case the PPE is supplied disassembled, the user must assemble the component parts according to any instructions under separate cover or contained
within the pack to ensure the performance standards indicated by the markings
are achieved. If this PPE is intended to be used with another device, the latter
and the combination of the two are expressed in separate notes.
- Position any removable and/or repositionable ocular in the envisaged operating conguration so that the protection exists referred to by the markings.
- Adapt any adjustment systems. The PPE must not accidentally move during
use.
- Wear the PPE before exposure to the risk conditions which it is meant
to safeguard against and use it only for the use for which it is intended as
indicated by the markings.
The PPE must not be exchanged between several users but are specically
designed for personal protection.
In case, during use, the PPE is damaged as a result of an impact, burning and/
or exposure to corrosion, this item of ppe will have to be replaced.
Store potentially contaminated ppe in a special container different from the
supply pack and keep these separate from integral devices until disposal or
disinfection. Clean the PPE every time they have been used before
returning them to the pack and check the integrity of the component
parts. The PPE can be cleaned with water and dried with a soft non-abrasive
cloth; lenses with anti-fogging treatment must only be cleaned using a soft
cloth. For disinfection with specic products, contact Univet s.r.l.
Keep non-contaminated PPE in their original pack at a temperature between
5°c and 40°c in a dry place where there are no organic vapours or abrasive
dusts in suspension. To prevent any drop in product performance, do not
expose to heat sources or UV radiation. [Keep this note with the ppe and
the original pack]
Compliance with the requirements of dir. 89/686/EEC has been checked with
reference to the applicable clauses of EN 166 standard. The identication code
of the PPE is shown on the PPE packs.
The performances of this PPE are expressed by the markings afxed to the
product and if necessary repeated inside the packs – the elds of use and
interpretation of the certied performances can be deduced from the tables
shown herein below.
Assemble the components and/or the accessories supplied using any operator’s manual provided with the single models. Any changes made to the
PPE, not made by the manufacturer, and any component maintenance and/
or replacement operation not performed in conformity with the attached notes,
shall result in the invalidation of the performances and product type approval.
Any spare parts can be obtained from Univet s.r.l. The replacement of product
structural components, unless illustrated in the packs or on separate notes,
shall be made by Univet s.r.l. which reserves the right to decide as regards
complete replacement and/or the repair of the article. Articles affected by wear,
use not in compliance with specications or tampered with shall be excluded
from maintenance and/or replacement.
IMPORTANT: Intended use and performances in terms of protection can also
be deduced from the “Guides for selection and use” in EN169, EN170, EN171
standards, as well as in the appendix “Use of sun lters” of the EN172 standard. Any lter performance is described in the markings by the scale number
as combination of the code number and the shade number joined by a dash:
for welding lters only the shade number exists.

C = after the code number, this indicates oculars with higher colour identication performance (EN170 standard)
T = indicates the PPE has been tested for protection against high-speed particles at extreme temperatures -5°C and +55°C (FT or BT or AT)
If the device does not bear the letter T, it must only be used against high-speed
particles at ambient temperature. (Re: EN166)

The expiry date of the PPE depends on the context of use. If the instructions
for use, maintenance, cleaning and storage of the PPE are followed, the article
can also be used for more than six months from when the pack is rst opened.
Proceed in any case to replace the PPE every 3 years and even earlier if
evident signs of degradation appear.

MARKING OF PPE IN WHICH THE FRAME AND THE OCULAR ARE A SINGLE UNIT: complete ocular marking “-“ of separation, EN166 reference and

whether these are F, B, A or FT, BT or AT, the eye-protector is classied in
the lower eld of use.
MARKINGS - SPECIFICATIONS: oculars classied in optical class 3 are not
suitable or made for prolonged use. Conformity with the symbol “8“ for face
shields implies oculars with minimum thickness of 1.4 mm and a scale number
of 2-1.2 or 3-1.2 – For conformity with symbol 9, frame and eyepiece must be
marked 9 along with one of the symbols F, B or A. The eye protectors against
high-speed particles worn above the ophthalmic eyewear can transmit impacts
and therefore generate hazards for the wearer. Filters showing the symbol

SPECIFICATIONS REFERRING TO EN175 STANDARD: This standard
applies to PPE for eye and face protection during welding and related
procedures. The conforming PPE is designed to include protection lters with
or without protection/reinforced oculars, certied in agreement with EN166,
EN169 or EN379 standards.
