Congratulations on the purchase of your new Littmann Classic II Pediatric Stethoscope or Littmann Classic II Infant Stethoscope.
These two-sided models with traditional bell/diaphragm chestpieces are designed, sized and acoustically precise for children and infants. The solid stainless steel chestpiece features a one-inch traditional bell (pediatric) or a 3/4 bell (infant) combined with a patented floating diaphragm.
Other features include a comfortably angled, anatomically correct headset, excellent acoustic seal and comfortable fit with patented 3M™ Littmann® Snap Tight soft-sealing eartips, and single-lumen tubing in attractive colors for use with children and infants.

Instructions for Use
Chestpiece
On Littmann stethoscopes with traditional combination chestpieces, you select either the diaphragm or open bell side by holding the chestpiece stem in one hand and rotating the chestpiece with the other hand until a click is felt.
Low frequencies: Use light contact on the bell side to hear low­frequency sounds.
High frequencies: Turn the chest piece over, index to the opposite side and use firm pressure to hear high-frequency sounds.

Removing the Diaphragm and Cleaning the Chestpiece
To reduce spring tension in the headset, hold each eartube at the bend near the eartip and gradually pull apart until fully extended.
To increase spring tension, grasp the headset with one hand where the eartubes enter the plastic tubing and squeeze until the plastic tubing on one eartube touches the other. Repeat as necessary.

the rim off the edge of the chestpiece. Remove the diaphragm from the rim and clean parts in soapy water or wipe with alcohol. Wipe

chestpiece surfaces with alcohol or soapy water. Dry all parts and surfaces thoroughly before reassembly.
Replacement of the Diaphragm
Place diaphragm on chestpiece surface. Totally engage diaphragm and chestpiece edge in groove of rim at one point, and hold in place with thumb.
While maintaining rim engagement at one point, roll rim over the entire outer edge. Make sure diaphragm is completely contained in groove of the rim.
General Use and Maintenance
• Avoid extreme heat, cold, solvents, and oils.
• The entire stethoscope can be wiped clean with
alcohol or soapy water.
• Eartips can be removed from the eartubes for
thorough cleaning.
NOTE: Do not immerse your stethoscope in any liquid or subject it to steam sterilization. If disinfection is required, the stethoscope may be wiped with a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution.

Your Littmann stethoscope comes with the finest service and warranty policy in the industry. The Littmann Classic II Infant or Pediatric Stethoscopes are warranted
against any defects in material and workmanship for a period of three (3) years. If a material or manufacturing defect is discovered during the warranty period, repairs will be made without charge upon the return of the instrument to 3M, except in cases of obvious abuse or accidental damage.
