FEATURES

GIMA tourniquets are used as mechanical barrier for the compression of blood vessels to take blood
samples or as mechanical barrier above wounds to stop bleeding.
The product or its components cannot be used for purposes different from the one specified in the
present manual.

PRESCRIPTIONS

The product shall be used by qualified medical personnel only, in out-patients’ department. It is not
conceived for the employment in operation room.
Since the product is made of corrosion-proof materials suitable for the enviromental conditions foreseen
for its normal use, does not require special care, however it is necessary to store it in a closed place
making sure that is protected from dust and dirt to assure its hygenic conditions. Moreover, it is
recommended to store the product in a place which can be reached easily by the personnel in case of
necessity.

FUNCTIONING

Position the tourniquet and tighten it, putting the male on the female fastener in order to block it.
Loosen softly before removing.

Don’t leave it on for more than 20 minutes. Apply only on arm and thigh.

MAINTENANCE

GIMA tourniquets can be stored following normal conservation techniques. The product can be washed
using water and neutral soap at 60°C. GIMA tourniquets can be burnt or disposed of in controlled
dumps without risks for the environment.
