Directions for Use
Intended use
The SpO2 adapter cables are intended to be used for connecting reusable or disposable SpO2 probes to
compatible monitoring equipment. These accessories are indicated for use by qualified medical personnel
only.
Instructions
1. Connect the adapter cable to the compatible monitor or module.
2. Connect SpO2 probe to the adapter cable.
Cleaning Procedure
To keep your cable free of dust and dirt, clean it with a lint free cloth moistened with either warm water
(40℃ maximum) and soap, a diluted non-caustic detergent or one of the approved cleaning agents listed
below. Never immerse or soak the cables and connectors in liquid. Do not allow the cleaning agent to remain
on the cable – remove it immediately by wiping with a cloth dampened with water.
If you see signs of deterioration or damage, replace the cable. Do not use it for further patient monitoring.
Recommended Cleaning Agents
Mild soap and water solution
U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) green soap
Sodium hypochlorite solution (1:10 dilution of household bleach in water)
Phenolic germicidal detergent solutions (1% aqueous solutions)
Isopropyl alcohol (70%)
Disinfecting Procedure
We recommend that you disinfect the cable only when necessary as determined by your hospital’s policy, to
avoid long-term damage to the cable. Disinfect your cable with a lint free cloth moistened with one of the
approved disinfecting agents listed below. Never immerse or soak the cables and connectors in liquid. Do not
allow the disinfectant to remain on the cable – remove it immediately by wiping with a cloth dampened with
water.
We also recommend that you clean the cable first as described under “Cleaning Procedure”.
Recommended Disinfecting Substances
Alcohol based: Ethanol 70%, Isopropanol 70%, Microzid liquid.
Aldehyde based: Cidex®
Caution
Do not immerse connector ends or cables in liquid.
The compatibility of Solaris products with chemical agents other than those listed is unknown.
The effectiveness of any cleaning or disinfecting procedure is subject to the proper preparation of each
agent per its manufacturer’s instructions.
Grossly contaminated products which may contact patient during use should be discarded.
