INSTRUCTION FOR USE

PRODUCT NAME: TYPE 6 STEAM EMULATING INDICATOR (IS2601)
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: PMS Steritest Type 6 Steam Emulating Indicator Strips are designed for use

in pre-vacuum steam sterilizers as cycle verification indicator operating at 134 °C – 3.5 min. or 121 °C – 15
min. operation condition.
After exposure to steam sterilization, the chemical indicator will provide an accurate visual confirmation by
color changing, indicating that the presence or absence of specific time and temperature parameters during a
steam sterilization cycle.
PMS Steritest Type-6 Emulating Steam indicators are classified as Type-6 according to EN ISO 11140-1
Standard.
During exposure to steam sterilization at 134 °C or 121 °C, the indicator color will change from Blue to Lilac.

INSTRUCTION FOR USE

 Place PMS Steritest Chemical Indicator Strip in each pack, peel pouch or tray to be steam sterilized.

The strip should be placed at a location in the package that is considered to be most difficult area for
steam to reach.

 Process the package as usual in a steam sterilizer..
 At the completion of the sterilization cycle, verify that the indicator has changed color and turned to

Lilac.

 If the color change is not visible or non-uniform, the sterilization conditions may be inadequate and

the items must be reprocessed with new/unprocessed indicator strips.

 Products stored at recommended conditions have a shelf life of three (3) years from the date of

manufacture.

 Manufacture, expiry date and Lot number are printed on the product box.
 Do not re-use the used Chemical Indicator Strips.

STORAGE CONDITIONS

 Store at maximum 35 °C and maximum 70 %RH humidity.

 Chemical Indicator Strips must be kept away from direct heat, sun light and excess moisture.
