GIANT HELMETS OWNERS MANUAL

LIMITED IMPACT
PROTECTION
When worn correctly, helmets
can reduce or prevent many
injuries. However, impact forces,
even in low-speed accidents, can
cause injury or death. Energyabsorbing materials used in
safety helmets are designed to
crush on impact. Sometimes,
the force can crush the material
completely. When this happens,
some of the blow is transferred
to the head. If this force is great
enough it can result in serious
injury or death. Because the
variables in every accident are
different, it is impossible to
predict how or when this might
occur.
HELMETS CAN’T PREVENT
ALL HEAD INJURIES
Some head injuries are not
caused by direct impact, but are
the result of severe back-andforth shaking. Safety helmets
are not designed to prevent this
type of injury.
HELMETS CAN’T PROTECT
WHAT THEY DON’T COVER
Safety helmets do not protect
the neck or any areas of the
head that they don’t cover. Make
sure the helmet fits snugly. The
straps should be adjusted and
tightly fastened to hold the
helmet firmly in place.
FOR MAXIMUM
PROTECTION, YOU SHOULD
ALWAYS:
1. Wear a helmet whenever and
wherever you ride.
2. Wear a helmet of the proper
size – designed for the sport
you are participating in.
3. Ride safely, observing all
traffic regulations
4. Wear the helmet low in the
front to protect your forehead.
5. Tighten the chin strap and
fasten all buckles securely.
6. Check the adjustments every
time you wear your helmet.
7. Inspect your helmet and its
straps regularly for signs of
wear or damage. Replace
your helmet immediately if it
shows any visible signs of
wear or damage.
8. Replace your helmet after an
accident, even if there is no
visible damage.
9. Only use mild soap and water
when cleaning your helmet.
10.Store your helmet in a cool,
dry place
FOR MAXIMUM PROTECTION,
YOU SHOULD NEVER:
1. Wear your helmet with the
buckle unfastened.
2. Wear anything under your
helmet.
3. Wear this helmet while riding
a motorcycle or other motor
vehicle.
4. Take unnecessary risks just
because you’re wearing a
helmet.
FITTING THE HELMET TO
YOUR HEAD
STEP 1: WEAR IT IN THE
PROPER POSITION
Always wear a helmet low in the
front to protect your forehead.
See figure 1 below for the proper
way to fit a helmet.
IMPORTANT: All fitting
adjustments MUST be made with
the helmet in the proper position.
Failure to do so will result in a
poor fit and might cause the
