BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Read these instructions before installing or operating this product.
Note: This installation should be made by a qualified service person and should conform to
local codes.
This manual provides installation and operation information. To use this document, you must have the following minimum qualifications:
A basic knowledge of CCTV systems and components
A basic knowledge of electrical wiring and low-voltage electrical
hookups

1 ATTACHING THE HOUSING AND CABLES
Smoke detector camera units are shipped with one down-viewing camera to the unit. All cameras (in units and upgrade kits) are shipped already focused.
1) Use the adapter or the housing as a template and mark the positions
of the mounting holes on the mounting surface. See
Figure 1.
2) Within the outline of the adapter or between the mounting holes of
the housing, cut a hole to accommodate the power and video cables. See
Figure 1.

3) Follow your local building codes for drilling the mounting holes and
cutting the cable-entry hole.
4) If using the adapter, use the four surface-mount screws and anchors
to attach the adapter to the mounting surface. See
Figure 3.
5) If you are adding cameras to your unit, follow the instructions in
section Appendix A: Upgrading or Adding Cam eras.
6) If you need to verify or change the focus or field of view of your unit’s
camera(s), refer to section
2 Adjusting the Camera.
7) Locate an approved power source within reach of the unit’s power
transformer.

8) Pull the facility video cable through the cable-entry hole in the
mounting surface.
9) Attach the provided BNC connector to the facility video cable.

10) Connect the video cable.
11) Insert the provided power
transformer into an approved power source.

12) Attach the unit to the mounting surface. Be sure to rotate the housing
so that the camera(s) face the desired field of view. See
Figure 3.

2 ADJUSTING THE CAMERA
1) If you need to change a
camera’s focus, turn the lens.
Note: There is no set screw.

APPENDIX A: UPGRADING OR ADDING CAMERAS
To upgrade or add cameras to an existing unit, perform the following:
1) If the housing is already installed, detach it from the adapter or the
mounting surface. Reverse the steps shown in
Figure 3.
2) If you are adding a camera to your existing unit, perform the
following. Otherwise, proceed to step 3.
a) Carefully remove a section of black card cover from the screen
the camera will be mounted behind.
b) Locate an approved power source within reach of the camera’s
power transformer.
c) Pull another facility video cable through the cable-entry hole in
the mounting surface.
d) Attach the provided BNC connector to the facility video cable.
3) To verify or change the camera’s focus or field of view, go to section
2 Adjusting the Camera.

4) Attach the additional
camera or replace an existing camera as shown in Figure 6.

5) Connect the video cable.
Note: The unit can be ordered with
multiple cameras. Each camera has its own video and power cables.
6) Insert the provided power
transformer into an approved power source.
Note: Value and Premier models
use a 12 VDC power transformer, while Ultra models use a 12 VDC/24 VAC power transformer.

7) To attach (or reattach) the housing to the adapter or the mounting
surface, go to step 12 in section
1 Attaching the Housing and
Cables. See
Figure 3.
