Altogehter, the construction elements applied in the German Physiks „Power
Cord“ result in a sonic performance with increased dimensionality and depth
of soundstage, improved high frequency definition and overall a more
relaxed presentation of music with a noticable gain of fine details.
The noticable reduction of overall harshness in sound, which will occur, is mostly accomplished by reducing the degree of high frequency components reaching the components through the AC-
line. Those normally interfere with sensitive parts in the electronic
circuits and result in audible distortions, which our ear is particularly
sensitve for. Therfore we experience a distorted signal to be louder than a
natural (clean) soundsignal. And, our ear is more sensitive for distortions in
the mid and upper frequency ranges.
Hooking up the German Physiks Power Cord you may - for a moment - sense a
subjective loss of higher frequencies in the musical signal, but in reality it is the
reduction of distortions you are realizing. The longer you listen, you will
appreciate the gained pureness and tranquillity of sound obtained with this power cable and, even when using it with power amplifiers, there will be no
reduction of dynamic performance at all.
Finally the outer looks of this cable comply with what is expected from a
high quality product. The impressive diameter of 19 mm is due to its internal
architecture, but still leaves a surprisingly good flexibility. Plugs are thoroughly fitted and allow also bending of the cable near the plugs.
Particulary at the outlet end of the cable made to measure heatshrinkable
tubings are used for that purpose to secure save handling overall.

THE GERMAN PHYSIKS POWER CORD
T HE PION N 3 ZF
Introducing the „Power Cord“ German Physiks presents
the result of extensive research and development in order to build a power cable for uncompromising use
with audiophile components. Basic physics have been
the groundwork for the design. Extensive listening tests with
various prototypes were neccessary in order to prove the
theoretical considerations we started with. Listening also was
the final tool to select materials and reach the final architecture.
Any specific cable has to meet a number of well defined requirements
according to its particular application. For instance a digital cable
will have other characteristics as one for analog signal transmission.
Interconnects will be different from speaker cables, and when
building a power cable one will have to go a completely different
way in terms of design and materials.
Asking for these special power cord qualities first to mention is
the ability to carry high current loads, since also components
with considerable power consumption have to be operated. In the German Physiks Power Cord a total cross-sectional area
of more than 3 square-millimeters for each single conductor
will secure an unhampered dynamic performance of any power
amplifier in the market, when driven with this cable.
Further details of attention are the frequency dependend transfer characteristics. While, for example, a digital connector is expected to transmit a wide range of frequencies up to several Megahertz without losses, in contrast to that a power cord actually has to transmit only low frequencies, precisely a 50- or 60-Hertz signal. Ideally its resistance should rise towards higher frequencies.
These specific transfer characteristics are attained in the German Physiks Power Cord by the chosen cable geometry in addition to absorbing elements inserted into the construction. The filter-like effect works in both directions of the cable. Thus unwanted frequencies superimposed on the AC power supply signal are reduced and kept away from the audio gear, and spectral noise originated inside a single component will be reduced on its way to the other parts of the audio system along the power lines - an issue of mayor interest particularly when operating digital equipment.
Beyond the filter effect another main goal developing the German Physiks „Power Cord“ was not to allow current induced conductor movements within the cable, which are said to create additional, cable specific high frequency noise. The array of the conductors and isolation result in an extremely high dampening of these movements. This distinctive feature not only is of value when using the cable alone, but also - and that makes it superior to designs not optimized in that respect - when using it in combination with an effective AC power conditioner. Since the German Physiks „Power Cord“ does not act as new source of high frequency noise, the power line signal, after it has passed the conditioner, remains clean !
