dust emissions
Environmentally friendly
Highly effective for foaming dust control binders
Description and Use
PowerTreat FD9068 is a highly concentrated foam
dust control agent formulated to produce resilient,
low surface tension foam for the control of fugitive
dust throughout the plant’s material handling system. The most cost-effective performance generally
occurs in waters containing total hardness under
1500 ppm (mg/L).
PowerTreat FD9068 is mixed with regulated volumes of water and air, and then passed through a
foaming chamber to produce high expansion foam.
The foam bubbles collapse upon impact with dust
particulate, encapsulating particles in a blanket of
moisture. This increases the bulk density of the dust
particles and leads to agglomeration which inhibits
the particles from becoming airborne.
Typical Applications
In certain material handling operations, these emissions can represent a substantial loss of valuable
inventory.
PowerTreat FD9068 offers a cost effective foam
technology by providing a highly concentrated
product. This product minimizes moisture addition
while providing some residual effect over a few
transfer points. Use of PowerTreat FD9068 can
maintain heating value by applying less than 10%
of the moisture added by conventional wet spray
systems.
PowerTreat FD9068 should be applied directly to a
dusting material at the impact point. Typical application points include downstream of the unloading
area, belt transfers, and at crushers or breakers
where new dust is generated.
Treatment and Feeding Requirements
Proper treatment levels for PowerTreat FD9068 depend on many factors such as severity of the problem, environmental influences, and operating characteristics of the system. This product should be
used in accordance with the control parameters
that GE establishes for the application.
Use of GE’s fully automated foam equipment ensures consistent production of high quality foam.
While optimum results are obtained with GE foam
delivery equipment, PowerTreat FD9068 will still
provide outstanding performance when used in
other foam feed systems.
Fugitive dust is generated during material handling
operations such as unloading, stackout, reclaim
and crushing operations. These dust emissions, not
only present health and safety hazards, but could
also lead to air permit non-compliance.
For contact with neat undiluted product, recommended materials of construction include stainless
steel and PVC. For dilute aqueous solutions, use of
galvanized iron or brass yields acceptable results.
