DusTreat* DC9123
Residual Foaming Agent
Provides residual control of fugitive emissions
while minimizing moisture addition
Produces quality foam with most plant waters Maintains control of emissions through multiple
transfer points and active storage piles
Effective on western subbituminous coals and
mineral ores
Environmentally safe
Description and Use
DusTreat* DC9123 is a concentrated dust control foam and binding agent formulated to control fugitive dust throughout the plant material handling system. In addition, it controls dust on active storage piles and during reclaim operations.
DusTreat DC9123 is mixed with regulated volumes of water and air, then passed through a foaming chemical chamber to produce Ultrafoam. The Ultrafoam bubbles collapse upon impact with dust particulate, encapsulating each particle in a blanket of moisture. The binding agent polymerizes on the surface to entrap the coal fines in a microscopic, plastic film. This provides long term dust control even after the moisture dries out.
Use of this product for dust control is covered by U.S. Patent 5,194,174 and other foreign patents.
Typical Application
Fugitive dust is typically generated during unloading, stackout, reclaim, and crushing operations. These dust emissions can be a safety hazard, an environmental nuisance, and can increase maintenance of material handling equipment. In addition,
fugitive dust emissions can represent a substantial loss of valuable fuel.
DusTreat DC9123 offers the best available technology by providing a foamable binder. It minimizes moisture addition while providing residual effects, and this eliminates the need to apply treatment at all locations. DusTreat DC9123 is a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the multi-application approach typical in most water spray systems. Use of DusTreat DC9123 can reduce the heating value loss associated with moisture addition to coal by applying up to 90% less moisture than most wet suppression systems.
Treatment and Feeding Requirements
DusTreat DC9123 should be applied directly to a dusting material at the impact point. Typical application points include downstream of the unloading area, belt transfers, and at crushers and breakers where new dust is generated.
DusTreat DC9123 should be fed directly from a closed (vented) shipping container to minimize atmospheric contact. For consistent optimum performance, use a chemical pump designed to handle high viscosity materials. The suction piping should be enlarged to a 1 inch (25.4 mm) minimum. Recommended materials of construction include stainless steels and most plastics for contact with the neat (undiluted) product. Carbon steel is not compatible with this product.
Use of GE‘s fully automated Acufeed* equipment ensures consistent production of high quality foam. While optimum results are obtained with Acufeed equipment, DusTreat foaming agents provide outstanding performance when used in other foam feed systems.
