6. Pull back on the microscope arm (10) to adjust viewing
angle.
7. Remove the handheld microscope (2) for
portable use. Sufcient lighting is required to view image with Handheld Microscope (not recommended for indoor use). Always start at 50X magnication before zooming in or turning to higher magnication.
8. Slide the GeoSafari® Tuff Cam adapter (1) onto the microscope to take photos with the Tuff Cam (sold separaely). Always start at 50X magnication before zooming in or turning to higher magnication. Follow the instructions from the previous page to focus. View through the display screen instead of the eyepiece. Photo capture will provide best results with reective LED illumination at 50 to 100X without zoom.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Open the battery compartment door at the bottom of the microscope base (9) by lifting it up while pushing the compartment door latch in the direction shown in the diagram below.
2. Install 3 fresh AA batteries with their plus (+) and minus (-) poles correctly positioned.
3. Replace the battery compartment door and the microscope is ready for use. Be sure to remove the batteries before storing the microscope for any length of time.
USING THE MICROSCOPE
1. Place the specimen slide on the specimen stage (8) and secure with the specimen slide clips (6).
2. Turn the turret (4) to the desired magnication. (Start with 50X and increase the magnication when needed.)
3. Illumination: a) Turn the LED ON/OFF switch (14) to the left to
turn on the transmissive LED to illuminate transparent specimens.
b) Turn the LED ON/OFF switch to the middle to turn off all LEDs.
c) Turn the LED ON/OFF switch to the right to
turn on the reective LED (12) to illuminate non-transparent specimens.
4. Turn the focusing dial (11) clockwise to raise the specimen stage (8) to the highest position toward the objective lens (5). Take care to ensure that the specimen slide does not touch the objective lens. View through the eyepiece
and lower the specimen stage gradually by turning the focusing dial counterclockwise until the image is sharp and clear. You may need to move the specimen slide to locate the desired area of examination.
5. The zoom dial (3) may be used to zoom in on the image.
