IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
❑Read all instructions. ❑Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. ❑To protect against electrical shock do not immerse cord, plugs or appliance in
water or other liquid.
❑Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near
children.
❑Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before
putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
❑Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the
appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment. Or, call the appropriate toll-free number on the cover of this manual.
❑The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance
manufacturer may cause injuries.
❑Do not use outdoors. ❑Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces. ❑Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven. ❑Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or
other hot liquids.
❑To disconnect, turn any control to OFF, then remove plug from wall outlet. ❑Do not use this appliance for other than intended use. ❑The appliance is only to be operated in the closed position.
POLARIZED PLUG (120V Models Only)
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent
removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel.
ELECTRICAL CORD
a) A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be
provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
b) Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and
may be used if care is exercised in their use.
c) If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,
1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance,
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord, and
3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
Note: If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel. In Latin America, by an authorized service center.

How to use:
This product is for household use only.
GETTING STARTED
• Remove all packing material and any stickers from the product.
• Remove and save literature.
• Please go to www.prodprotect.com/applica to register your warranty.

• Wash removable parts and/or accessories as instructed in CARE AND CLEANING.
• Make sure appliance is OFF.
• Wipe inside of Grill & Roast™ and heating plates with a damp cloth to remove all dust.
• Select a location on your countertop where unit is to be used, allowing enough space from back of appliance and wall to allow heat to flow without damage to

cabinets and walls.
• Place drip tray under front section of bottom heating plate of Grill & Roast™ (C).
• Before first use, if desired, lightly oil bottom heating plate.
Note: Aerosol cooking spray should not be used on nonstick surface. Chemicals that allow spray to come out of can build up on surface of heating plates and reduce their efficiency.
COOKING
1. Make sure size of meat or poultry to be roasted fits into Grill & Roast™ before preheating.
2. Plug Grill & Roast™ into a standard electrical outlet.
3. Press power ON/OFF button

above the digital display; “5” will appear in digital display and will alternate with “PH” (preheat). Timer will count down for 5 minutes while preheating occurs.
Caution: Do not preheat or cook with lid in an open position.
4. When preheating is complete, there will be an audible signal and “ON” will appear on the digital display.
Note: If desired cooking time is not entered, there will be a periodic audible signal that Grill & Roast™ is ON and ready to cook.
5. Using pot holders, carefully open lid and – using tongs with nylon heat­resistant tips – insert food to be cooked.
Note: Use only heatproof nylon or wooden utensils when placing or removing food from Grill & Roast™ to avoid scratching nonstick surface. Do not use metal

tipped tongs, forks or knives; these can damage the nonstick surface.
6. Close lid. Set timer by pressing timer up (+) button until desired time appears on digital display. Timer can be set to a maximum of 199 minutes (D).
Note: Use suggested cooking times found in COOKING CHART on page 7.
7. Timer can be adjusted at any time during cooking by pressing “+” or “-” buttons.
8. Allow food to cook for desired time.
USING THE BAKE PAN Note: Use bake pan for foods containing liquids and for baked goods.

1. Fill baking pan about half full and insert into Grill & Roast™ (E).
Caution: Do not overfill bake pan. Always fill half full.
2. Follow steps 2 – 13 in COOKING.
3. Bake according to package directions. Test for doneness. If necessary, reset timer for additional time and check periodically to avoid overcooking.
Caution: Do not leave appliance unattended during use.
9. During cooking, digital display will show countdown from initial set time. At end of cooking time, there will be an audible signal. Display will alternately flash “00” and “ON” as a reminder that the power is on. Power ON indicator will remain on until power ON/OFF button

is pressed.
10. There will be an audible signal every 5 minutes until Grill & Roast™ is turned off.
11. At end of preset time, food should be cooked. Check for doneness by using a meat thermometer (see COOKING CHART on page 7). If necessary, reset timer for additional time and check periodically to avoid overcooking.
12. Using a potholder, carefully raise lid to allow steam to escape at the sides before fully opening.
13. When cooking is complete, press power ON/OFF button

14. Using tongs with nylon heat-resistant tips or wooden spoons, carefully remove food from Grill & Roast™.
15. Allow drip tray to cool before removing from under roaster. Wash and dry drip tray after each use.
16. Thoroughly clean interior of roaster after each use, following directions in CARE AND CLEANING.
4. When finished baking, use pot holders to remove pan to wire rack. Note: Do not place bake pan directly on counter or table top. Use a trivet or
heat-resistant table cover.

BAKE PAN TIPS
• Packaged Brownie mix: bake for 25 minutes or until tests done.
• Packaged Cornbread mix: bake 20 minutes or until tests done.
• Great for baking a frittata or strata: follow recipe indications.
• Chicken or fish in cream sauce: bake for 25 minutes or until tests done.
• Beef with vegetables in gravy: brown onions in bake pan by cooking in 1 tsp. oil or butter for 5 minutes. Add beef, vegetables and sauce and cook until meat and vegetables are tender.

SUGGESTED COOKING CHART
The following are meant to be used as guidelines only. Cooking time will depend upon thickness and cut being used. Use a cooking thermometer to test for doneness. If food needs longer cooking, check periodically to avoid overcooking.
Please note: To be sure your food is fully cooked the USDA recommends the following guidelines. Using a meat thermometer, test for doneness by inserting the meat thermometer into the center of the food being cooked and make sure the thermometer is not touching the bone or heating plates.

GRILL & ROAST™ TIPS
• To prevent heat loss and for even cooking, do not open lid frequently.
• Do not overfill your roaster.
• When first cooking a particular food, check for doneness several minutes before suggested time; if necessary, adjust the timer.
• Watch carefully to avoid overcooking.
• For added flavor, add dry seasonings before grilling or marinate foods before cooking.
