IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS.

• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• Do not attempt to put utensils or foreign objects into the infrared heating and broiling element or the heating element protective cage.

GROUNDED PLUG
As a safety feature, this product is equipped with a grounded plug, which will only t into a three-prong outlet. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. Improper connection of the grounding conductor may result in the risk of electric shock. Consult a qualied electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded.
TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW
Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of re or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel.
ELECTRICAL CORD
1. A short power cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
2. Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
3. If a long detachable power cord or extension cord is used:
a) The marked electrical rating of the cord set or
extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and
b) If the appliance is of the grounded type,
the extension cord should be a grounding 3-wire cord,
c) The cord should be arranged so that it will
not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.
d) Outdoor extension cords should be used
with outdoor use products and are surface marked with the suffix letter “W” and with a tag stating, “SUITABLE FOR USE WITH OUTDOOR APPLIANCES”.
e) The extension cord should be kept dry and
off the ground.
f) Store product indoors when not in use – out
of reach of children.
g) Do not clean this product with a water spray
or the like.
Note: If the power cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel; in Latin America, by an authorized service center.

How to Use
This product is for household use only.
GETTING STARTED
• Remove all packing material, any stickers, and the plastic band around the power plug.
• Remove and save literature.
• Please visit www.prodprotect.com/applica to register your warranty.
• Before first use, wash cooking plates and drip tray according to instructions in the CARE AND CLEANING section of this manual.
ATTACHING THE GRILL PLATES Caution: Attach grill plates when the appliance is cool.
• Insert tabs (on the bottom of the grill plates) into the
appliance. Push plates downward until tabs snap into place. Make sure plates are securely fastened before preheating the grill. Lower plate: (C).Upper plate: (D).
USING THE TILT FLAP Caution: Adjust the tilt flap when the appliance is cool.
1. For sloped cooking of foods like burgers or chicken: Flip the tilt flap out away from the grill. (E)
2. For horizontal cooking of foods like paninis: Flip the tilt flap to store underneath the grill. (F)

CONTACT GRILLING

1. Securely fasten both grill plates into place and close
grill cover.
2. Unwind cord and plug into standard electrical outlet.
3. Press the ON/OFF switch on the back right leg of the
grill to the ON position as shown (G).
4. The red Power On indicator light on the top cover of
the grill will illuminate.
5. Turn the temperature control dial on the cover of the
grill to the desired setting.

6. When the desired temperature is reached, the green
preheat indicator light will illuminate.
Note: Aerosol cooking spray should not be used on the plate surfaces. The chemicals that allow the spray to come out of the can build up on the surface of the grill plates and reduce their efficiency.
7. Using a pot holder, carefully open the preheated grill
and place foods to be cooked on lower grill plate.
8. Close the lid and allow food to cook for desired time.
9. When finished cooking, turn off and unplug the appliance.
Caution: To avoid sparks at outlet while disconnecting plug, make sure power is off before disconnecting plug from outlet.
10. Using pot holder or oven mitts, carefully open lid and remove food.
Note: Always use heatproof plastic, nylon or wood utensils to avoid scratching the surface of grill plates. Never use metal skewers, tongs, forks or knives.
11. Allow the drip tray to cool before removing it from under the grill. Wash and dry
the drip tray after each use.
BROILING
1. To broil, open the grill and remove the upper grill plate

using the push-button plate release on the right side of the unit. This will expose the infrared heating and broiling element. (H)
2. Ensure that the lower cooking plate is installed.
3. Close the grill cover. When the upper grill plate is
removed, the hinge will engage for broil mode and lock the top housing above the lower grill plate.
4. Unwind cord and plug into standard electrical outlet.
5. Press the ON/OFF switch on the back right leg of the
grill to the ON position as shown (G).
6. The blue indicator light on the top cover of the grill will illuminate for broil mode.

7. For Hi Broil, push the broil control button on the top

housing of the grill until it is depressed. For Lo Broil and top melts, push the broil control button so it is in the elevated position. (I)
8. Allow the lower grill plate to preheat for approximately 5-8 minutes.
Note: If broiling is to be done directly after contact grilling, no preheat time is necessary. Using oven mitts, carefully remove upper grill plate and place it on a heat resistant surface.
Note: Aerosol cooking spray should not be used on the nonstick surface. The chemicals that allow the spray to come out of the can build up on the surface of the grill plates and reduce their efficiency.
9. Using a pot holder, carefully open the preheated grill and place foods to be cooked on lower grill plate.
10. Ensure that food does not contact the heating element protective cage.
Note: Place food directly on cooking plates while using the grill. Do not use foil, parchment, or tray liners on the cooking plates.
11. Close the lid and allow food to cook for desired time.
12. When finished cooking, turn off and unplug the appliance.

WAFFLE PLATES Important: Make sure the unit is in the horizontal
position using the tilt flap in the back (bottom) of the grill. (F) (J)
• Attach both waffle plates and set the temperature to 400°F.
• Plug in your grill. Press the ON/OFF switch on the back right leg of the grill to the ON position as shown (G). The red power indicator light will illuminate.
• Once the green preheat indicator light illuminates, pour in the waffle batter. Close the lid.
• Cook 7-9 minutes or until waffles are golden brown.
GRIDDLE PLATE Important: Make sure the unit is in the horizontal position using the tilt flap in the
back (bottom) of the grill. (F) (J)
• Attach griddle plate to bottom of grill.
• Attach the upper grill plate to top of grill, or if desired, remove the upper grill plate to broil while using the griddle plate.

CARE AND CLEANING
Caution: To avoid accidental electric shock and burns, unplug from outlet before cleaning and allow your grill to cool completely.
This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel.
1. Empty the drip tray. Wash in the dishwasher top rack or hand wash with warm, soapy water. Wipe dry.
2. To remove the plates, press the push-button plate release on the right side of the plates and remove from the grill. The plates can be washed in the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water; always dry plates thoroughly before reattaching.
3. Wipe outside of unit with a warm, damp sponge. Dry with soft, dry cloth.
4. DO NOT use steel wool, scouring pads or abrasive cleaners on any part of the grill, including the upper housing reflector.
5. DO NOT immerse the grill in water or any other liquid.
6. Make sure to hold the lid open by hand while cleaning to prevent accidental closing and injury.
7. Any servicing requiring disassembly other than the above cleaning must be performed by qualified service personnel.
8. After the grill has been cleaned, stand the grill vertically on its back end for space­saving vertical storage.

CONTACT GRILLING COOKING GUIDE
The following chart is meant to be used as a guideline only. Cooking time will depend on the thickness of the food. To be sure your food is cooked, USDA recommends using a meat thermometer to test for doneness. Insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the meat until temperature stabilizes.

OPEN- FACE REUBEN SANDWICH
Prep Time: 5 min., Cook Time: 10 min. Servings: 2
Ingredients
2 slices rye bread 1 Tbsp. butter, softened 2 Tbsp. 1000 Island dressing ¼ cup sauerkraut, drained ¼ lb. thinly sliced corned beef 2 slices Swiss cheese
Directions
Butter one side of each bread slice. Place bread slices butter side down onto unheated grill plate.
Top bread slices with dressing, sauerkraut and corned beef. Turn broiler ON and broil on HIGH 4-5 min. or until meat is warm.
Add cheese slices; turn broiler to LOW and broil 2-3 min. or until cheese is melted.
RIB-EYE STEAKS WITH COFFEE RUB
Prep Time: 5 min. plus standing time, Cook Time: 10 min. Servings: 2
Ingredients
2 Tbsp. fine ground coffee 2 Tbsp. sugar 1 Tbsp. garlic powder 2 tsp. chili powder
Directions
Mix sugar, coffee, garlic powder and chili powder in small bowl. Brush both sides of steaks with olive oil; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Rub
steaks with coffee mixture; let stand at room temperature 30 min. to allow flavors to blend.
Attach lower grill plate and preheat broiler on HIGH 5 min. Broil steaks 10-12 min. or to desired doneness. Let stand 3 to 4 min. before serving.

SEARED FRESH TUNA SALAD WITH LEMON THYME VINAIGRETTE
Prep Time: 5 min. plus refrigeration, Cook Time: 5 min. Servings: 2
Ingredients
Salad: ½ Tbsp. lemon juice 1 tsp. honey Dijon mustard 1 tsp. fresh thyme
1 Tbsp. olive oil Salt and pepper 2 cups mixed baby greens
2 (4 oz.) fresh tuna steaks 2 Tbsp. olive oil 2 Tbsp. soy sauce 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
Directions
Mix salad dressing ingredients in small bowl. Toss with baby greens. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Marinate tuna steaks in olive oil, soy sauce and brown sugar in refrigerator 30 min. Attach upper and lower grill plates and preheat grill to 425°F. Place tuna on grill and sear
1 to 2 minutes to medium rare. Remove tuna; let stand 1 to 2 min. Slice tuna into strips. Arrange salad greens on plates. Top with sliced tuna.
SPICED GLAZED SALMON
Prep Time: 5 min., Cook Time: 10 min. Servings: 2
Ingredients
1 tsp. paprika 1 tsp. brown sugar ½ tsp. hot chili powder
2 (5 oz.) salmon fillets ½ Tbsp. canola oil 1 Tbsp. maple syrup
½ tsp. ground cumin
Directions
Mix brown sugar and spices in a small bowl. Brush tops of salmon fillets with oil. Rub spice mixture onto the surface of the salmon.
Attach lower grill plate and preheat broiler on HIGH 5 min. Place salmon on bottom grill plate and broil 5 to 6 min.
Drizzle maple syrup onto the salmon; broil 1 to 2 min. or until desired doneness.

BACON AND CHEESE NACHOS
Prep Time: 5 min., Cook Time: 6 min. Servings: 4
Ingredients
4 cups tortilla chips (about 4 oz.) 1 cup cheese sauce 1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese blend 2 bacon slices, cooked and crumbled 2 Tbsp. thinly sliced green onions 2 Tbsp. diced tomatoes 1 Tbsp. sliced black olives 6-8 pickled jalapeno pepper slices
Directions
Layer half the tortilla chips into the bottom of the griddle plate. Top with half the cheese sauce, shredded cheese and bacon. Repeat for second layer.
Attach filled griddle plate to bottom of grill. Broil on HIGH 6 to 8 min. or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Top with onions, tomatoes, olives and pepper slices.
CINNAMON ROLL “WAFFLES”
Prep Time: 5 minutes, Cook Time: 3 minutes Servings: 8
Ingredients
1 can refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
Directions
Attach upper and lower waffle plates to grill. Preheat grill to 400°F. Place 2 cinnamon rolls on each half of lower waffle plates. Close lid and bake 3
min. or until “waffles” are baked and golden brown. Repeat with remaining 4 cinnamon rolls. Spread cinnamon roll waffles with icing. Serve warm.

GRILLED CHICKEN AND RED ONION FLATBREAD PIZZA
Prep Time: 10 min., Cook Time: 25 min. Servings: 2
Ingredients
1 (5 oz.) marinated chicken breast 1 red onion, sliced 1/2 inch thick 2 (6-inch) round flatbreads ¼ cup sweet barbecue sauce ½ cup shredded Pepper Jack cheese
Directions
Attach upper and lower grill plates; preheat grill to 400°F. Grill chicken 10-12 min. or until done (170°F). Remove from grill and cut into ½
inch pieces. Add onions to grill; grill 5-7 min. Remove from grill and separate into rings. To assemble pizza, divide and spread barbecue sauce between the 2 flatbreads.
Top each flatbread with chicken, onions and cheese. Remove upper grill plate and preheat broiler on HIGH 5 min. Place pizzas on grill
plate and broil 4-5 min. or until pizzas are hot and cheese is melted.
