Parts Description
Before using for the first time
Wipe the cooking plates with a damp cloth.
Preparation
1. Centre the drip tray under the front of the grill, to catch run-off fat and oils.
2. Open the grill, wipe the grill plates with a little cooking oil or
butter, and then close it.
3. Don’t use low fat spread – it may burn on to the non-stick
surfaces.
Preheat
1. Put the plug into the power socket.
2. The light will come on, then cycle on and off as the thermostat operates to maintain the temperature. When the light goes off, the grill is ready for use.
Fill the grill
1. When the light goes off, use an oven glove to open the grill.
2. Lay the food on the bottom grill plate with a spatula or tongs.
Contact grilling
3. Simply bring the handle forward, to close the grill on the food. The hinge is articulated to cope with thick or oddly shaped foods.
4. The grill plates should be roughly parallel, to avoid uneven cooking.
5. Contact grilling tends to be faster, as both grill plates are in contact with the food.
Grill and Melt
1. Use the handle to lift the lid straight up, to bring the hinges to the top of their travel.
2. As you close the lid, pull it gently forward, to leave a gap between the grill plates.
3. Grilling with this method takes a bit longer, as the upper grill plate doesn’t touch the food, but it means that you can grill things with toppings, like cheese on toast, or pizza slices, without flattening them.
Which ever method of cooking you are using always make sure that your food it properly cooked before serving. Cook meat, poultry, and derivatives (mince, burgers, etc.) till the juices run clear. Cook fish till the flesh is opaque throughout.
Remove the food
1. Check that the food is properly cooked. If you’re in any doubt, cook it a bit more.
2. Use the oven glove to open the grill.
3. Use wooden or plastic tools to remove the food.
After Cooking
Switch grill off and pull out the plug. Put on the oven glove, empty the drip tray into a heatproof bowl, give it a wipe with kitchen paper, and replace it under the
front of the grill.
Care and maintenance
1. Unplug the grill and let it cool before cleaning and storing away.
2. Wipe all surfaces with a damp cloth or sponge. Use a paper towel with a dab of cooking oil to remove stubborn stains.
3. Wash the drip tray in warm soapy water, or in the top rack of the dishwasher.
4. Take extra care with the non-stick cooking surfaces.
5. Don’t put the grill in water or any other liquid.
6. Don’t use harsh or abrasive cleaners, solvents, scourers, wire wool, or soap pads.
