The Facts About Indoor Air Quality
The EPA has concluded that most of our exposure to toxic chemicals, harmful
biologicals and allergens occurs not in the outdoor environments, as we might
assume, but in the indoor environment, where we spend over 90% of our time. In
a way, this is good news. We have more power over the environment in our homes
and businesses than we do on the outdoor environment.
It is well established that indoor air pollution can be the result of occupational
exposures, hobby, recreational or cleaning chemicals, renovations, mold in damp
areas, stored papers, books, and clothing, out-gassing, dust collection and microorganism growth in carpets and furnishings, and from poor building ventilation or
contamination. The control of these pollutants is extremely important because of the
long-term detrimental effect they can have on human health. Common symptoms
resulting from poor indoor air quality include: headaches, fatigue, eye irritations,
asthma attacks, breathing problems, dizziness, memory loss, depression, skin irrita-
tions, sinus infections, colds, u and viruses. Even with no noticeable symptoms,
however, exposure to even low levels of contaminants can increase
sensitivity to the substance and potentially lead to long-term health problems.

Facts About the
MicrobeSwatter
The MicrobeSwatter® utilizes the

HOW DOES THE MICROBESWATTER® WORK?
The MicrobeSwatter® utilizes the contaminant ghting
technology of ultraviolet light to dramatically reduce
airborne contaminants circulating through your heating
and air conditioning system. The MicrobeSwatter®,
however, is 2 to 3 times more powerful than many
commonly used ultraviolet light products. This enhanced

results in signicantly improved indoor air quality.
Your HVAC service company has installed the
MicrobeSwatter® unit in the air duct of your home or
business. The MicrobeSwatter® utilizes a Dual-Radiant™
germicidal ultraviolet lamp that produces a total of 105
microwatts of contaminant killing power (measured at
1 mtr). As air circulates through your air duct system and
passes the MicrobeSwatter® unit, the powerful ultraviolet
light will destroy airborne bacteria, mold,
fungi, and viruses.

REPLACING THE ULTRAVIOLET LAMPS
Lamp Replacement should be performed
by a service technician
WARNING
Electrical Shock –The unit is to be wired into 24 VAC
electrical power.
Ultraviolet Light is Harmful – Never look at a lit
ultraviolet lamp without UV protective glasses and skin
coverings. Unplug the lamp before servicing.
Ultraviolet Lamp May Cause Injury – Ultraviolet
lamps are made of glass and therefore somewhat
fragile. Safety glasses and gloves should be worn
when handling a UV lamp. In addition, UV lamps can
be very hot and cause skin burns. Allow lamp to cool
before handling.
Steps to replace ultraviolet lamps:
36 watt, Dual-Radiant™ Lamp
provides over 2-3 times the killing
power of the typical, ultraviolet systems.
Electronic Power Supply provides constant
wattage to the UV lamps. Blue LED light
indicates if UV lamp is lit.
1. READ THE WARNINGS ABOVE.
2. Make sure power is off to the HVAC system and the UV
lamp is off before opening any service panels.
3. Remove the rubberized cap covering the center part of the
lamp assembly inserted into the air duct.
4. Pull out the UV lamp assembly (the lamp assembly is held
in place with strong magnets), and insert new UV lamp
assembly.
5. Reattach the rubberized cap making sure the lamp socket is
pushed onto the metal pins tightly.
6. Restore power to the HVAC system.
ULTRAVIOLET LAMP LIFE
Like all light bulbs, UV lamps have a life span. Unlike regular
light bulbs, however, UV lamps loose their effectiveness over
time. Typically, after 9000 hours of use (approximately 1 yr.), the
lamps do not produce enough ultraviolet germicidal irradiation
to be effective and need to be replaced. However, even after
this time, the lamps usually do not burn out, but stay lit. It
should also be noted that some ultraviolet lamps burn out
prematurely and do not last the full 9000 guaranteed hours. The
MicrobeSwatter
if the UV lamp lit. If the LED is not lit, the UV lamp is not
operational and needs to be replaced.
