Do not disassemble the instrument or attempt to perform any internal servicing as this will void your warranty. No user serviceable parts included.

USING YOUR DISTANCE MEASURER
POWER SUPPLY
The General LM30 is supplied with two AAA alkaline batteries
To replace batteries remove the battery door at the back
of the device. Place batteries according to polarity and replace battery door.
For infrequent use please take out the battery to avoid corrosion to the body of the device.
OPERATION
To turn the unit on press the power on / read button.
To turn the unit off press and hold the clear / back / power off
button for two seconds.
The unit will shut o automatically after 5 minutes without use.
Unit setting
Press the menu button 8 times to enter unit settings.
Press the power on / read button to cycle through the optional
units: m, ft, in, ft & in.
Press the clear / back / power off button to exit unit settings.

Measurement reference point
Press and hold the menu button to enter setup mode.
The measurement taken from top of unit and measurement
taken from top of unit icon will flash alternately. Release the menu button to select.
After powering off the unit will default back to measurement taken from bottom.
View history
Press the menu button to view history.
When the history icon appears press the power on / read
button. The previous 20 measurement will be displayed on the screen.
Press the clear / back / power off button to exit history.
MEASUREMENT
Single Measurement
Hold the unit and point towards the measurement target. Press the power on / read button. The laser will be emitted.
Re-press the power on / read button to take the measurement. Results will be shown on the display screen.
The laser will turn off automatically after 20 seconds of inactivity.
Continuous Measurement
Press and hold the power on / read button for 3 seconds. The laser will be emitted with result shown on the display screen.
Move the unit until the required distance is displayed.
Press the clear / back / power off button to exit continuous
measurement mode.
Area Measurement
Press the menu button four times to enter area measurement mode. A rectangle will appear on the display screen with one edge flashing.
Press the power on / read button to take the first measurement (length).
Press the power on / read button to take the second measurement (width).
The area will be calculated automatically with results shown on the display screen.
Press the clear / back / power off button to clear data. Press and hold the clear / back / power off button to exit area mode.

Volume Measurement
Press the menu button five times to enter volume measurement mode. A cube will appear on the display screen with one edge flashing.
Press the power on / read button to take the first measurement (length).
Press the power on / read button to take the second measurement (width).
Press the power on / read button to take the third measurement (height).
The volume will be calculated automatically with results shown on the display screen.
Press the clear / back / power off button to clear data. Press and hold the clear / back / power off button to exit volume mode.
Single Pythagorean measurement
The single pythagorean mode calculates indirect measurements when an obstacle prevents direct measurement. To achieve accurate results the distances must be at a right angle.
Press the menu button six times to enter single pythagorean measurement mode. A triangle will appear on the display screen with one edge flashing.
Press the power on / read button to take the first measurement from point A (A-B).
Press the power on / read button to take the second measurement (A-C). This measurement must be taken from the same point as A-B.
The distance will be calculated automatically (B-C) with results shown on the display screen.
Press the clear / back / power off button to clear data. Press and hold the clear / back / power off button to exit single pythagorean mode.

Adding measurements
Press the menu button two times to enter addition mode. A plus icon will appear on the display screen.
Press the power on / read button to take the first measurement.
Press the power on / read button to take the second
measurement. The values will be added automatically with results shown on the display screen.
Press the clear / back / power off button to exit addition mode.
Subtracting measurements
Press the menu button three times to enter subtraction mode. A minus icon will appear on the display screen.
Press the power on / read button to take the first measurement.
Press the power on / read button to take the second
measurement. The values will be subtracted automatically with results shown on the display screen.
Press the clear / back / power off button to exit subtraction mode.
Double Pythagorean measurement
The double pythagorean mode calculates indirect measurements when the length is higher and lower than the measurement position. To achieve accurate results the distances must be at a
right angle.
Press the menu button seven times to enter double pythagorean measurement mode. A double triangle will appear on the display screen with one edge flashing.
Press the power on / read button to take the first measurement from point A (A-B).
Press the power on / read button to take the second measurement (A-D). This measurement must be taken from the same point as A-B.
Press the power on / read button to take the third measurement (A-C). This measurement must be taken from the same point as A-B and A-D.
The distance will be calculated automatically (B-C) with results shown on the display screen.
Press the clear / back / power off button to clear data. Press and hold the clear / back / power off button to exit single pythagorean mode.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
TROUBLE SHOOTING
Inaccurate measurement results may occur in harsh environments
such as strong sunlight, excessive temperature fluctuations, weak
reflective surfaces or low battery.
Whenever possible, store the instrument in a cool, dry place.
Do not store in high temperatures or strong humidity for long periods of time.
Remove the batteries before storing the device for long periods of time without use.
To remove dust clean the instrument with a damp, soft cloth.
WARRANTY
The General LM30 comes with a 3 year manufacturers warranty.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded
under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Measurements must be taken within 0.5 - 30m.
ERR03 The target provides poor reection of the laser beam.
Change the target or cover with a piece of white paper.

Replace the batteries.
