MODEL GS10
GEMMASTA 10” POWER FEED SAW
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Place the GS10 saw on a firm stable bench or frame.
Fit the 10” blade onto the shaft, put on the flange and nut, and tighten the
nut securely. To access the blade shaft you will need to have the sliding vice
table fully forward (See Operating Instructions below on how to do this).
Slide the blade guide back until the blade is in the U section. Adjust the white
pads until they are just touching the blade. The pads should sit approximately
3-5mm behind the cutting edge of the blade.See FIG.5.
Fill the sump with your coolant until between the lines on the coolant level
indicator.See FIG.4.
Plug the three pin plug into an appropriate outlet, protected by a RCD circuit
breaker.
Your GS10 saw is now ready to use.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Unscrew the locking thumbscrew on the half nuts and release the catch to
allow the half nuts to spring apart (See FIG.3). Move the sliding vice table
towards the front of the machine.
Hold the material to be sliced securely in the vice, using the wing-nuts on the
top of the vice, then adjust the Levelling Screw (See FIG.1), until the top vice
plate is level. Tighten the wing-nuts again to ensure the material is securelt
held in the vice. The rock should not be higher than 3 ½”. If the rock is an
irregular shape, either grind some flats onto it so that the vice can grip
securely, or pack with wooden wedges. If the rock is not held securely it can
move during the cut and damage the blade.
Loosen the Back Wing-Nut and the Front Locking Knob (called the Front
Screw Lever in FIG.1) and wind the crossfeed handle (Slab Thickness Screw
Handle) to set the thickness of the slab. Tighten the Front Locking Knob and
then the Back Wing-Nut to lock the vice in place. Move the sliding vice table
towards the blade until the rock is almost touching the blade.
Lock the half nuts and lower the lid. Turn on the GS10 and allow the power
feed to push the stone into the blade until the cut is finished and specimen in
the vice has passed the cutting edge of the blade. The slab will fall onto the
left hand side of the sliding table. Turn off the GS10. The GS10 Lead Screw
has a safety relief so that if vice will only feed to a certain point and then
stop. This ensures that the Lead Screw, or the Gearbox, does not get
damaged.
