Thank you for buying our external combo SATA+USB 2.0 enclosure for 3.5" SATA devices! This manual will help you install it properly.

Personal computer equipped with USB port running
Windows 98/ME/2000/XP or Macintosh
No driver is required with the exception of Windows 98

Install 3.5” SATA HDD into EE3-USATA-1
Using the supplied screwdriver, remove two screws at the
back of the case and remove t he back cover
Insert two supplied plastic sides into the corresponding
holes of the HDD.
Plug the 7 pin SATA cable and 15 pin SATA power cable in
the HDD
Carefully slide HDD with the back cover inside the
aluminium case
Fix the screws again

Attention:
If you plan to use the ATA HDD, please, set the jumper between pins 1, 2 (see chart 1 below), if you wish to use SATA HDD, please, set the jumper between the pins 2 and 3 (see chart 2 below). If the jumper is not properly set, you will not be able to access the hard disk. (delete above description)

Driver installation under Windows 98SE
Start Windows 98SE system
Turn on the power switch at the back of the enclosure
System will automatically f ind USB device and start "A dd
new hardware" wizard. Click "Next".
Choose "Search for available driver", then "Next"
Insert the CD with drivers into your computer, select the
file "GM203 3789" and click "Next"
System will finish the setup automatically: then an
icon
will appear in the system tray
Driver installation under Windows ME/2000/XP
Under Windows ME/2000/XP, the system will f ind and setup the "USB Mass Storage Device" automatically.

Driver installation under Mac OS
If your operating system is Mac OS 8.6 or above the driver will be installed automatically. If you are running an older version of OS you will have to first download and setup "U SB MASS STORAGE SUPPORT 1.3.5" from the SOFTWARE SUPPORT website:

Warning:
Before you disconnect the EE3-USATA-1 from your
system, you should always perform the following procedure:
Click the icon
with your mouse right button
Choose "Safely remove hardware" from the popup menu
After your confirmati on the m essage "Storage device can
now be safely removed from the system" will appear. Only now you can disconnect the EE3-USATA-1 from the computer!
Hot plug
Serial AT A standard supports “hot plug” feature. It means that the hard disk can be connected to or disconnected from your system without any interruption to your work or restart of your computer being necessary.

Remove Serial ATA hard disk
Please, follow the steps below to remove the Serial ATA hard disk from your computer:
Double click on “My Computer”
Click with your right mouse button over the SATA hard disk you
would like to remove and choose “Properties” from the popup menu. On the “Hardware” tab select the SATA hard disk again and click the “Properties” button. In the window which would appear choose “Stop using the device”. After that all the logical drives belonging to this SAT A hard disk will disappear from your system
Now you can disconnect the enclosure from the PC.
Add a Serial ATA Hard Disk
Please, follow the steps below to add a new Serial AT A hard disk to your system:
Connect the enclosure to your PC using the provided SAT A cable

Double click on "My Computer"
Click with your right mouse button over any hard disk on your
system and choose “Properties” from the popup menu. On the “Hardware” tab select the SATA hard disk you plan to use and click the “Properties” button. In the window which would appear choose “Start using the device”. After that you will be able to use the new Serial ATA hard disk
